Chapter 23

Fares placed his hands over the surface of the walnut while closing his eyes.

After taking a few deep breaths, Fares opened his eyes. It glowed a deep golden color.

He infused energy from both his mind and leg nodes through his heart, then towards his shoulders, and finally exiting through the palm of his hands.

It flowed more smoothly this time, making Fares wonder why. But he didn't dwell on it for long, as when the energy touched the surface of the huge walnut, it started to vibrate violently.

However, after a couple of minutes, nothing happened. Fares expected this to a certain degree as if it was just energy it needed the one at the core of the walnut was many times his own.

Even though it didn't break, it gave him a general idea about its energy flow.

This time Fares put both of his hands on the walnut and infused energy as usual through his right hand, this time he didn't just let the energy leave his body. Instead, he used a direct supply line of energy from his hand to the center of the walnut.

With his left hand, he reversed the energy flow from the center of the core to his hand. Naturally, the energy didn't pass through the shell, but it opened a gap wide enough for the energy from his other palm to enter.

This reverse flow of energy caused the extremely tight atomic structure, of the outer surface of the nut, to break-in sequence. In turn, it caused the structure to crumble under the excess energy, starting from the gap towards Fares' left hand.

Right then, the surface of the walnut cracked in the shape of a spiderweb, and a few minutes later, the whole shell exploded outwards.

A few shards cut superficial wounds across Fares' skin, he flinched but didn't stop till the middle layer also broke releasing the source of energy inside.

It was a fist-sized walnut. However, the energy it was radiating was too insane. It burst outside covering tens of kilometers around the tree.

The squirrels quickly climbed to their respective holes and started absorbing the energy in their way. From Fares' perspective, they were sleeping.

Fares too wasted no time, since it had no place to hide he just sat down in a lotus position and immediately started cultivating.

He was the closest to the energy source, so more energy was coming in his direction.

While he was cultivating, he felt the energy enter his body, seeping through every pore on his skin. This energy wasn't like any other he absorbed so far. It felt like it was cleansing his soul, and relaxing his mind.

Fares felt that this energy was not increasing his cultivation, but was purifying his energy pathways so that energy flow was much smoother.

It also expanded its nodes by almost double their original amount. 'Fascinating, so I can expand my nodes!' Fares thought happily.

Thinking that he just realized that his look on the 4th Dimension was just too narrow. If he could expand his energy, even more, he could enhance his senses to the next degree.

It not only would help him fight, or in his case escape, but also help him manifest more energy and control things, others on the same level can't.

He was too happy that he continued to cultivate trying to absorb as much energy as possible before this phenomenon disappear.

A few hours later, Fares opened his eyes with a glint of golden-brown in it. He looked at Smooka at the side, who also just woke up.

Meeting his gaze, the squirrel ran to him, rubbing his head into Fares' chest as a thank-you. Fares also returned it by rubbing his silky fur and saying, "Thank you for this buddy, it helped me a lot this time."

"Well, they go eat the nut. It's all yours now." He continued pointing at the walnut.

Squeaaaaaaaak~

At this juncture they heard a loud squeak heard behind them, it was the giant alpha squirrel with its family again.

Fares looked at them confused and slightly on edge. He already gave him the best orb he got, but they still want to fight?

However, different from his expectation, the giant squirrel grabbed the walnut and gave it to Fares with a bow.

He was slightly taken aback. Since never in his wildest dream, would he think a beast this powerful would just give him something as valuable as this.

Looking at Smooka, the squirrel nodded at him. As a beast living in the jungle all day and eating pure energy-containing nuts to cultivate, all it ever wanted was to finally try the energy in this one nut.

And it did, so it didn't need to eat the walnut anymore, even if it gave it a little more energy, this feeble friend it made seems to need it even more.

"Well then, I accept your gift." Fares said as he walked towards the nut.

As he grabbed the nut, he could feel the energy deep within it. Looking around to make sure, nobody felt this energy but him…' Why?' He thought.

'I don't think this amount of energy will be consumed anytime soon. Might as well do it in a safe place.' Thinking that he turned to Smooka.

The squirrel looked back at him with Its big round eyes wondering what was he going to do next.

"Hey buddy, do you think you can take me back where we were?" Fares asked.

Smooka nodded and sat on its abdomen signaling for Fares to ride on. And so he did.

Holding on tightly to its silky fur and lowering his head for the initial fall, Fares prepared himself this time.

The squirrel then ran towards the edge of the tree and jumped, falling a few meters before spreading its limbs and using the air currents to pull itself up to the sky.

This time they glided higher, and since Fares wasn't thinking about what was going to happen, he enjoyed the ride more.

When they arrived at their initial destination, Fares said, "Do you want to accompany me to hunt?"

Smooka nodded and drew out its sharp claws, signaling it's ready.

Fares patted its head and drew his sword thinking, 'It's going to be easier now.'

After descending from the tree and returning to the previous hunting ground, solely relying on Fares' memory, they searched for more Raptors.

When they finally met another pack with a few more Raptors this time, and an even larger one as their leader, both Fares and Smooka looked at each other and nodded.

During their search Fares told Smooka about his plan to hunt together. With the squirrel agreeing to some and refusing some, he finally made a perfect plan.

Smooka climbed the tree nearest to them and lied in wait, while Fares grabbed a rock from the ground, infused it with energy, and threw it on one of the Raptor's eyes.

This time however the stone pierced its eyes and smashing its brain into bits.

Fares looked at the scene with wide eyes. The Raptor didn't even have time to scream before it died, just like that.

When its body fell, the other Raptors became alerted and looked at their surroundings.

Fares then smiled mischievously at them and grabbed another rock. His plan was going to change this time.
