What to do? {Part 2}

"Your highness, it is simply impossible," Lord Timothy, passionately slammed his fist on the table as he rose from his seat.

Thus far, this meeting had consisted of several outburst. The first being from the Advisor of Foreign Affairs when he realized that some breech had been made with out his first being brought aware. The next was from The Advisor of Troops, who insisted that the outpost would make it next to impossible for any breech to occur.

Both men were quickly silenced and told to sit back down while Anastasia reeled with thought. There had in fact been a breech with more accounts coming in as the meeting progressed. Furthermore, if The Advisor of Troops was correct, there may be more than one type of breech Karthia was facing. If the borders of her kingdom were as secure as they had presumed them to be, then this would not be an issue.

As Duke Phillip Vern finished his retelling of the events the had unfolded to warrant todays calling of the advisors, Anastasia rose to begin the discussions of how to proceed. She had proposed that a small troop of men go investigate the boarder. However, the young Advisor of the People immediately protested claiming it impossible.

Anastasia was not going to let such a statement go uncontested, "Impossible. A word which means it cannot be done. I know for a fact that we have guarded our territory for decades, neigh centuries in the past. It has indeed been done before, I have histories chronicles and the very witnesses in this room to support me. You are correct in assuming my proposed plan is unconventional, but the unconventional is not always in fact impossible. Now, pray tell, why do you find this impossible,"

"The people cannot go to war." Timothy challenged.

Baron Weston, Advisor of Troops, glared at the young man before him before angrily stating, "The people will not be going to war. The men brave enough to fight for her majesty will, while those under her rule sleep all cozy in their beds."

Marchioness Greshin, who tried to be a mediator between the advisors tried to sooth Timothy's obvious hurt by adding, "But the people will be affected by a war."

Everyone within the room gave way to muttering, save for Duke Vern who simply gave Anastasia a reassuring smile. This gave her just enough strength to begin her next rally within the conversation.

"But a War is the very thing we are trying to prevent!" Anastasia stood capturing the attention of the room. Everyone sat in waiting for the young queen to speak her mind.

"The Prince of Dreterra will be in the capital for part, if not all of the Season. If we can scout out to what degree his soldiers have advantage over us, we can make our plans for or against before he ever leaves, if not before he comes. Furthermore, we will be in the perfect position should his men attack. They would be foolish to attack while their crown prince is standing in the lions den."

"But what if he is coming just to proclaim war?" Lord Timothy questioned stubbornly.

"Then, we are left with two options. Find a way for peace, or fight for our kingdom."

"The People will riot." Lord Timothy muttered under his breath.

"It is your job to see that they don't." Anastasia hissed as his obstinance he was young and had yet to learn that when a queen spoke, he did not have to speak as well.

Turning her attention away from him as to support his awful behavior, she turned to the rest and began giving her orders. "Lord Farley, I need you to prepare The Prince of Dreterra the best rooms available for the season. However, they also need to be in a location of constant watch. Baron Weston, I expect you to position man on watch more now than ever. Should any problem occur with in the castle, we need it take care of without any haste. Further more, I will need you to send your choice of men to inspect the border. Lord Brady, please do a close inspection of our past and current affairs with Dreterra. If anything has slipped under our noses I need to know about it.

Marchioness Greshin, If you will inform those who did not arrive of the decision made today. Furthermore tell the Advisor of Treasury, we need reports concerning our current funds should a war become necessary. We will also need his assistance in pulling the records of financial trade with Dreterra. The Advisor of Harvest is pardoned since he is making sure that the crops are being planted in the eastern kingdom, but he will be needed in the days to come. If he is not already one his way to the castle for the season, I need someone to send for him.

As for the Advisor of War, we will wait until we must before filling that position. Furthermore, we do not want to elicit any negative outcomes from Dreterra before absolute necessary. With that, you are dismissed. However, we will be meeting again soon. I expect everyone to be here, and I expect you to come with open minds and ideas. Am I understood."

Anastasia was met with varying levels of committed "of course your highness." before releasing her advisors. As they left, her aids came rushing in, demanding her attention for the daily things to which she must tend. She tried her best to shrug off the feeling of ill that slowly rose within her, but she was scared. Anastasia could tell a game was afoot, but she knew very little of the players and the game they played.
