FIVE

The next day Jinwoo returned to his house to get ready for the military camp. After this morning he made sure Yujin was okay and went to campus safely with one of his men, Jinwoo decided to return to his residence away from the hustle and bustle of Seoul. He deliberately chose the location of his house on the outskirts of Seoul so that he could live in peace without anyone disturbing his calm.

The first thing he does at home is check on his pet.

In his large house he has five German shepherds which he raises to accompany his boring days. If he was in the mood for a show, he would carry a corpse which he could throw in his shepherd kennel and watch the dogs scramble for fresh, bleeding meat.

"Have they eaten?"

Jinwoo asked one of his men who he gave the task of looking after the dogs when he was away on errands. The officer nodded in agreement while pointing at the remaining meat he had just thrown into the cage.

"Don't feed them later in the afternoon. Looks like there will be fresh meat to give them tomorrow. So let them starve until tomorrow."

Jinwoo gave a sly grin as he imagined his prisoner who would be eaten by his german shepherds tomorrow. The intruder deserves a very heinous punishment because he has dared to sell information to his terrorist group.

Jinwoo then walked into the house to make coffee. His habit since he entered military camp was to drink coffee without sugar because he needed the caffeine to keep his brain fresh while on duty.

After he finished preparing coffee, Jinwoo then heated up the canned food that he kept in the refrigerator. This morning he wasn't going to cook like the previous mornings because he didn't have much time. And this is all because of Yujin's childish attitude which irritated him again in the morning before he returned to his house.

While waiting for the canned food to heated, Jinwoo immediately took a shower and got ready in his room on the second floor. He shouldn't waste his time daydreaming or pondering stupid things about his life because that can make him weak. Family and past are the greatest weaknesses of a human being. And that is what Jinwoo has always implanted in his brain so that he does not become a melancholy man in the middle of the silence of his life.

Jinwoo closed his eyes tightly as cold water slowly rained down on his head and flowed down the firm lines of his face to the rest of his body. A flash of images about the events of the death of his father and mother came back into his head. The sound of screams and yells that kept spinning inside his head made Jinwoo unconsciously frown while enjoying every past bitterness he was trying to keep.

His uncle was the most vile man who had killed his parents. His uncle also sent him to a terrible orphanage, where the owner of the orphanage employs the children for the fun of his life. Two months after he lived in the orphanage he then chose to run away. He could not live there with a life that was not worthy of his age. And luckily he met a very kind person like Kang Hyunjeong who was willing to adopt him from that horrible orphanage when he ran away.

But wounds are still wounds. Nothing could heal the wound, which was already bleeding and gaping. Because of his vile uncle, he grew up to be a cold and cruel person.

When he was ten years old he beat his naughty friend for making fun of him in class. After that he was so satisfied. He enjoyed every pain his friend felt. As time went on he began to realize that he had something inside of him that was driving him crazy. It's crazy to hurt others and make others suffer. Because of that he chose to enter the military camp after he graduated from high school so that he could control his every desire to hurt others. However he didn't want to grow up like his bastard uncle. He wants to live as someone useful so that he can repay Kang Hyunjeong's kindness who has adopted him from an orphanage so that he can become the great man he is today.

Jinwoo closed his eyes for a long time and enjoyed every pain his past gave him. After that he immediately came out of the bathroom to get ready for the headquarters. For him, the past should not dominate his mind for too long because this past can arouse his insane desire to hurt others, which he has endured with a series of ethical codes that his trainers in military camp used to implement.

The coach is the only person who knows his madness and knows the dark secret he is hiding. Unfortunately the coach is now dead. And that made him hate his life, which was always surrounded by people who did not live long. Therefore he did not want other people to get too deep into his life so that they would not have the same fate as his father, mother and his coach. He did not want to drag other people into the whirlpool of misfortune he was carrying because he was sure that the curse was indeed given by God to him.

"Mother, what are you doing?"

Minwoo, who had just come down from his room, immediately greeted his mother who was busy cooking in the kitchen. The middle-aged woman and one of the servants in his house seemed so busy cutting up quite a lot of vegetables and meat on the kitchen counter.

"There will be a banquet today to discuss your wedding plans."

Minwoo frowned cluelessly and began to ask his mother for a more complete explanation.

"My wedding? Why didn't anyone tell me?" Minwoo asked a little emotionally.

Since the first time his life has always been dictated by his father. It seems that he does not have the right to determine his own life. And now his mother and father have planned a wedding that was never discussed with him. How could he not get angry like that?

"Didn't your father tell you? You will be arranged with Yujin, your childhood friend."

"But why suddenly? Mom and dad have never discussed this to me before. Didn't I the one who will live my life in the future, you and father should talk about this to me first." Minwoo growled.

Now he is completely disgusted by his life. Actually it doesn't matter if he is going to be an arranged marriage with Yujin because he and Yujin have always been good friends, so it will definitely be easy to accept Yujin as his future wife. But that's not what he wanted. He just wanted his father and mother to respect him as a child who has the right to speak in this house. Not because he is their biological child, they have the right to dictate the whole things of his life. Even God has never arranged the life of his creatures in such detail.

"I actually wanted to discuss it a long time ago, but you are always difficult to contact. Even to return to Korea you had to be threatened by your father first. So how can I have the opportunity to discuss this plan with you. Besides, I think you already know it from your father. You better prepare yourself now so you don't embarrass our family at dinner tonight."

Mrs. Kang easily said that in front of her youngest son who was already filled with anger. If at this time Minwoo was not aware of his position as a child, maybe he would throw a bunch of curses for his mother.

"Why are you always managing my life? Why don't you guys ever manage Jinwoo's life?"

"Because your brother is more mature than you. Besides, I can't possibly force your brother like you do because your brother are so cold. In fact he chose to live apart from us. Sometimes I also misses your brother. Please tell your brother to come to dinner tonight. Whatever happens he has to come."

Minwoo could see a sad look in his mother's eyes. It is undeniable that his mother also really loves his brother, just like his father. But all this time his mother had always tried to be fair in front of him so that she wouldn't feel jealous of his brother.

"Mom, take it easy, I'll definitely drag Jinwoo home tonight." Minwoo promised before leaving his mother who was still struggling with cooking.

After Minwoo left the kitchen, Mrs. Kang shed tears seeing the state of Minwoo who looked depressed because of her husband. She knew Minwoo never liked the college major he took in Canada. And now his youngest son must become a victim of her husband's selfishness. Because she knew that her husband could not possibly ask Jinwoo to marry Yujin. Jinwoo was too harsh and cold just to take her husband's strict orders. Meanwhile, they had promised Yujin's late mother to marry Yujin to one of their sons so that Yujin would always have a guard when she was no longer breathing.
