Chapter 50

Lucinda's POV

As a sat across from Adam and Aiden they gave each other a knowing look before turning to me.

"Yeah... What about it?"

"Well the thing is... I wanted to ask you guys if maybe you could like not give him such a hard time with the expansion..."

"And why would we do that?"

"Adam please... Matty is one of my closest friends."

"Still... Him expanding here is bad for our business. I get that he means a lot to you darling but we've got families to feed too."

"Aiden?"

"Sorry baby... I gotta agree with my brother on this one... You know... Unless you can find an alternative that benefits us both than I don't see us changing our minds."

"It's okay. I am asking the impossible and I know how hard you guys work."

I sighed. If Aiden agrees with Adam I know it will be extremely impossible to sway their decision. I stood up with discouragement but still hugged them goodbye, took Donny and left Amnesia.

I got in the car with a scowl etched on my face. Disappointed was flowing through my veins when I started the car and I could tell was radiating a very unwelcoming aura because Donny was very tentative about striking up a conversation.

Unfortunate for me the human body requires multiple intakes of sustainance to remain optimally functional so we stopped at Fabiola'z before our drive home.

After getting placed at our table I glared at the menu. All of this stuff here I had already tried before. I was the menu taste tester when the restaurant was still in development a few years ago when I still lived downtown.

"So you're going to give up?"

"What?"

"The number one people pleaser I've ever met is giving up? Since when does your motivation run so low?"

"I don't know... And wasn't you who told me to focus on my self more?!"

"That doesn't mean that in situations where you are always creative you should run low on imagination..."

I bit my lip. No matter how much I racked my brain I just couldn't find any possible solution and it would just leave Matty feeling all frustrated because he never got his expansion.

"Maybe I just need some food in my system."

"You sure it'll help?"

"Currently it's my only option."

A waiter came by and asked for our orders. After a few minutes our food came out and I was happily munching away to the taste of home.

"Wow... This is amazing."

"That's exactly what I told Fabby when she was making this menu."

"How many people can one person know... I swear everywhere I go with you and every new person that we meet together you always seem to know..."

"That is not true..."

He gave me a knowing and I blushed and pushed my hair behind my ear.

"I think the only people you didn't know was the security guard at the pier, Cindy and Sasha and Randy. I mean... You know the owner of this restaurant and this is my first time here!"

"Well the owner of this restaurant just happens to be Adam's wife so I know her by association."

"Mmhmm... Have you come up with anything about how to solve this expansion problem yet?"

My face drops into my palms and I drag them slowly down my face. I sigh and groan at the same time and shove a spoon in my mouth then mumble a 'no'.

"I thought you said food would help..."

"Well inspiration doesn't strike everyone Donny!"

His face twisted in confusion and then turned into a full blown smirk. It's only then that I realized that I have never openly called him 'Donny'. It's always only ever been in my head.

"Donny?"

I blushed but decided to hold firm for once when I'm with him.

"Oh shut up... You call me Butterfly."

He scoffed at my weak response and crossed his arms while leaning back in his chair. Just as he was about to say something he was interrupted but I brunette running towards me squealing excitedly. Her curly locks bounced up and down on her way towards me before I registered who it was and got up to meet them.

"Lucy! Lucy! Lucy! Lucy! It's been so fucking long!"

Fabiola was always known for her bear hugs and she was giving me the biggest one I've ever received right now. I gotta say... For a pregnant woman she can run... And squeeze.

"Oh my God Fabby... You look amazing!"

"Thanks... It's the pregnancy glow. But enough about me... How did you get even more drop dead gorgeous since you were last here. I swear I've got a line of men staring through the glass window over there."

I turned around to look large glass window and surely enough there was a group of men... Well teenagers... Maybe young adults looking through the glass pane.

I waved at them and they all looked away like they'd been caught committing a crime. Me and Fabby chuckled while Donny glares angrily at them.

"Oh... Fabby. Let me introduce you to my friend Donavan. Donavan this is Fabiola my sister from another mister."

"It's nice to meet you."

"Likewise... Now Lucy. I love it when you visit since you rarely do it I know you have a motive so spill..."

I swear this woman knows me better than I know myself. I sighed and filled her in on the whole situation about the expansion. She quietly listened to me until I was finished.

"Well you've got yourself in quite a pickle there. I understand where the boys are coming from so I really hope you find a solution honey. As much as I'd like to stay I gotta run. Love you to bits and remember to visit more often. I mean I'm carrying your nephew for goodness sakes. It was nice meeting you Donavan."

After Fabby left I plopped down in my chair and sighed. It was really nice seeing her again. I glanced at Donny across the table who was glaring at the glass pane behind from me.

I turned around to see that our crowd was still there and I smiled and waved at them again which caused them to look away nervously again.

"Don't smile at them like that..."

I immediately got defensive and crossed my arms.

"Why?"

"Cause it's pretty..."

He answered so automatically that I don't even think he had time to think about his answer. He realized his mistake and looked at me wide eyed.

"I mean that they may persieve it as pretty which might them have the wrong kind of thoughts..."

I smirked from across the table. This is the first time I've ever seen Donny flustered about anything so I decided to drag it out a little more.

"Uh huh... Sure."

"Shouldn't you be focusing on solving your problem?"

I groaned. This again? My brain is already hurting from thinking of alternative solutions.

"I just wish I could find a way for them to meet in the middle..."

Wait a second. And just like lightning inspiration strikes.

"Meet in the middle... The middle!"

"What?"

"I've figured out a solution!"
