Chapter 41 - Upheaval in the Academy IV

The second Gu worm that Fang Yuan refined was Brain Gu. This Gu worm was shaped like a jellyfish, with an umbrella-shaped top and trailing tentacles, it was about as big as Fang Yuan's pinkie finger. But it was the most important Gu that he had refined and also the most painful one to use.

This Gu did not provide Fang Yuan with an extra brain, but it was like having two brains instead of one.

After Fang Yuan finished refining this Gu, Fang Yuan didn't immediately start using it, it was only two days later when he had made all the preparations did he use it.

He placed it on his palm and supplied it with primeval essence. Upon receiving his primeval essence it floated up from his palm and came to rest upon his head, in the middle of his braincase. Once there its tentacles came together and started rotating like a drill making a hole in his skull, about the size of a pin, through which it squeezed itself and entered his skull.

Once inside the umbrella part of the Gu stuck itself to the roof of his skull and its tentacles started branching out and stabbed into his brain in different areas.

The process could not be simply called painful, it was on the level of self-torture. But to improve Fang Yuan gritted his teeth and endured it. After the process was over he was not able to move properly for the rest of the day.

This Gu helps in enhancing the function of one's brain, it improves all the functions of the brain, collecting information, processing information, storing information, etc.

With this Gu, he would be able to use Snakelet Gu more effectively. As with this Fang Yuan's brain can have better control and feel of his body, thereby knowing down to the last nanosecond up to which he can use the Snakelet Gu daily to improve his body's constitution.

This Gu will also help during his fights to help collect the enemies' information, like shoulder, leg, hand movements, and thus helping in deducing their next set of moves and attacks.

To refine these two Gu's Fang Yuan spent more than two hundred primeval stones just for the ingredients and he spent another hundred during the refinement process. Thus reducing his six hundred and twenty primeval stones balance in the system to three hundred and twenty. But Fang Yuan was not bothered about this, instead, he was happy that he was able to successfully refine these to new Gu worms.

Control Thoughts Gu complimented Brain Gu quite nicely. The extra ten percent thoughts produced will help in deducing more things and will speed things up.

The food for Control Thoughts Gu was thoughts itself. As such Fang Yuan had decided to use his lustful thoughts to feed this Gu. As for Brain Gu, its food was the brain of any animal, a smaller brain would mean it would get hungry more quickly and a bigger brain would mean it would be satisfied for a few days. Fang Yuan decided to use the boar's brain from when he would hunt wild boars to feed Snakelet Gu.

This further firmed up Fang Yuan's decision to find Old Man Wang sooner and get the hunting map from him. As of now two of his Gu worms would be feeding on wild boars from now on.

As of now, Fang Yuan has seven Gu worms – Spring Autumn Cicada, Liquor Worm, Invoke Lust Gu, Moonlight Gu, Snakelet Gu, Control Thoughts Gu, and Brain Gu.

He was beginning to feel the pressure. He had just started his Gu cultivation journey but he was already facing difficulties in feeding his Gu. The rest of his peers didn't have to worry about this as they had their parents and family to help them out and not to mention that now they only had to think about feeding one Gu, and many of them had not even finished refining the said Gu while he, on the other hand, had to feed seven.

Fang Yuan frowned.

'From tomorrow onwards the academy will start again before that I need to come up with a plan or at least a rough idea to start earning primeval stones fast.'

While thinking about various methods through which he could earn money, Fang Yuan went to bed.

...…

The sky was blue and clear, looking pure as if it had been washed clean. The sun was shining golden.

Puffs of white clouds floated away, and a group of colorful peacock parrots chirped as they flew beneath the blue sky, forming an arrow formation under the clouds as they soared.

This variant of colorful parrots would only appear in large groups during springtime. Their bodies were littered with feathers the color of the rainbow, their bodies the size of an eagle. The birds had parrot beaks, while their tails were that of a peacock's flowing long tail.

It had been ten days since the day Fang Yuan managed to acquire number one in the test to refine the vital Gu. The spring breeze blew over the whole mountain's green grass, while the wildflowers bloomed eagerly, and the bees and butterflies danced around together. Life was surging all around; it was the wonderful beauty of spring.

The breath of spring was so strong that the tall bamboo walls surrounding the training grounds could not hold it back.

This training field occupied 3 Mu. The ground was flat, paved with a layer of thick and wide grey graphite. Its four sides were planted with green spear bamboo; these green poles were placed closely together side by side, straight and tall, forming a circle of green high walls.

While below the wall corners were stone as well, clumps of green grass emerged from many areas. In between the bamboo were also some wild roses, poking in from the outside, a few even climbing the wall.
