I hummed a short and uppity tune as I sat across Baldr. The individual's blond, almost platinum hair rested neatly on his shoulder as his gray eyes shone. The center of them pooling with kindness as he looked around. I looked to see that he was drumming his dainty fingers on the table as a maid appeared with two cups of tea in her hand. I thanked her as she bowed and left. I chuckled to myself as I remembered that Baldr had a bad habit of drumming his fingers whenever he was nervous or scared. I felt my heart clench as his nervousness is probably a result of the question that I asked him earlier.
My lips parted as I took a sip of the reddish colored tea. My stomach rumbling much to my chagrin. A beautiful sound resembling that of the song of a nightingale reached my ears. I looked up to see Baldr chuckle. His whole demeanor shining as his pearly white teeth shone. The smooth lines of his face and Roman nose softening with the laugh allowing him the ability to have a halo with his angelic appearance.
"Ah, Hjordi(Hiordi) you haven't changed at all."
I smiled as tears lined my eyes. I couldn't believe the fact that I was seeing my beloved Baldr in front of me once more. The last image that marred my memory from my past life was that of his smiling face as the mistletoe protruded from his heart, as I begged the giantess to grant him the tears that would be necessary to revive him. Despite my tears, my love never awoke again as the giantess refused.
Thank you Odin for granting me the chance to talk and love him once more. I cleared my throat as I felt my face flush as red as my hair.
"So, Baldr have you thought of the answer to my previous question?"
Baldr's demeanor instantly changed to that of a stormy expression. He sighed grimly before pursing his lips.
"Hjordi you know that I love everything about you, right?"
I nodded. Though Baldr's affection was that of a brother's, I am quite aware of that. After all that affection of his is what hurts me the most.
"And you also do know that there is one thing that you do that makes me love you a little less?"
I rolled my eyes and said robotically.
"I understand that you are strong, but there are things out there which are stronger than you. Please heed my warning and do not act so impulsively."
Baldr nodded as he took a sip of his tea. He still acted so elegant and eloquent despite the amount or power he had. I breathed in the crisp air, my hands fanning my flushed face when I remember my shameless display of tears as I hugged a confused Baldr earlier. My deep sigh reverberated the ground as a thought suddenly came to mind. If Baldr and Loki occupied this world, then surely the other Norse gods must also occupy this space as well. I groaned once more as I remembered the pompous faces of those cocky bastards. Their sneers as they sat in their thrones looking down at my small child form. Particularly so, the contempt that came from my father's expression as my mortal mother trembled next to him. His twisting smirk as he mocked my low lineage which the bastard himself gave me. The goddess who married him glaring openly at me as her son sat in my father's lap. I felt my fists shake as I kept my smile radiant despite the situati-
"Hjordi? Hjordi!"
I snapped out of my trance only to see crimson line my pale hands. The corpse of what was a teacup before littered the table in front of me as Baldr held my hands. I winced as the blood continued to run.
Damn it. I forgot that I was currently inhabiting the body of a human who does not have the ability to heal herself.
Baldr's hands and gray eyes shone as he muttered something under his breath while holding my hands. I watched the wounds disappear as my hands cleared of the blood. I smiled. No matter how many times I witness it, I still am always in awe of his abilities. To me, Baldr's power easily rivals Odin's. Despite him having such power, he is never cocky, rather he is quite modest and kind. His kindness of his being both a curse and a blessing. I sighed then looked at Baldr whose light eyebrows were furrowed in concern. I reached my hands over
"I will ask you one more time Baldr, what are the gods planning to do with this kingdom?"
For the first time in my life Baldr looked at me without a smile. He smirked and said.
"Why don't you ask that perfect husband of yours?"
