New life

"Come on miss, you can do it!"

Nurses and maids shouted at a woman lying on the bed in pain. They cheered for hoping to make it. On a night in the middle of winter, a woman was about to give birth. None of her family even know so only a few friends and acquantances knew.

It was a cold night when she screamed behind a cloth that was in her mouth. Her hands shooked and pulled the ropes that hang on the ceilings violently. She pushed and pushed, tears pour down along with her ears twitches until finally a baby came out.

"Quickly take it out"

"Carefully now!"

Nurses took the infant carefully in their arms, staring at it why there was no cries. The baby shut its eyes and showed no proof of life. The mother almost went into a breakdown until one of the nurses slap its butt.

Two times by now it has no avail. The baby was lifeless looking until it came to its third hit.

It cried. It cried and cried meaning it was alive. The mother felt relieved before feeling another pain on her stomach, it was soon to realized the first infant was not the only one. Wails of a baby later echoed in a small room.

"Oh by jolly, ma'am, Jolly!"

"You have two children ma'am!"

Exclaimed the nurse who was now in charge of cleaning the infants. The woman just huffed in happiness knowing she was now a mother. A first-born and a second-born came into the cold world. It was announced that they were both boys and exactly identical.

"Twins, my how fascinating"

"Congratulations ma'am!"

The nurses gave the two babies to the mother who was now teared eye and proud. She smiled listening to her babies' cries. She already had a name for her two boys.

The first was named Alyce and the second was named Alice. No one knew why a mother named her sons the names fitted for a noble or a girl.

In the night of winter lies a mother and 2 brothers, laying on a haysack covered by few clothing. It was considered a bed to those whose status are far more lower than a commoner; slaves.

****

After how many slumbers I've took, I wonder what time it is. I slowly peek through my eyes and got exposed by a blinding light. It hurts first but soon re-adjusts to my sorroundings.

Lets see, a wooden ceiling that looks like rotten...ew. A stinking smell fills the room...another ew. I raise my hands to see small, plump and soft fingers, why how adorable. Wait, is this my hand?

I look closely and wiggled them, I can control which means it is my hand. I yelped in a cutest and most innocent voice, almost...no...very confused. I turned to my sides and saw a baby by my side. Sleeping soundly without a care in the world.

Who is this baby

Why does it looks like a human but with white ears on top of it's head

Why are my hands so small

Where am I

'The last time I was conscious was when I was with Jake, and we did it together...and, Oh what the fuck did he do to me!'

"Uwaahh"

Flailing my arms and wailing won't change anything.

I tried to think it off, going deeper to my memories but as I go farther, my mind sets another slumber. Many days passed as I tried it again and again but it was no success. Its uncontrollable when I keep thinking of what happened last time.

But I tried to gather the things I've been observing for the past weeks. So a woman with the same white ears except longer comes by to feed us. And when it comes to us, I realized the infant beside me was my younger brother. Name is Alice, the same with mine but with an "y" instead of "i".

We three had the same light blonde hair with no ears on our side but was located on the top of our heads. All were painted marshmallow white except for mine which is pearl, another shade of white. Well it doesn't really differ anything as the woman who claimed to be my mother loved us, visited us from time to time to feed us.

I'm guessing she works? but she just gave birth to two creatures I didn't know about. She was dressed in simple attire with an apron, probably a maid. During the hours that no one was around, I tried to muster all my strength to move my arms and legs, unexpectedly a soft furball twitches at my back too.

I couldn't see on my back so I pushed my baby brother to his right, seeing a a white soft looking furball attached to his body.

"..."

I'm guessing we're rabbit creatures? It makes sense regarding the white long ears on top of our heads and the furball stuck to our lower backs. And this isn't Earth anymore, the fact that there are literally weird creatures lurking here proved that maybe I was reborned as a baby into this world.

My name was still the same. Still the same language I used, all my memories were still here; that's good. The people that visits here got the "I wanna cuddle them" faces. Squishing our cheeks and played with out tiny arms. My sibling doesn't mind it and laughs after quite some time but I don't.

It's annoying, people carries us and rocks us till we fell asleep. No I don't want that, there's still so much I needed to see and confirm. For exception, one cat-eared girl visits from time to time when our mother isn't here. Cute face, average height, and dazzling smile she carries each of us and takes us out of the stuffy room from time to time. And in her arms I hug her huge jugs, ahh..this is a bliss.

To think I, Alyce from planet Earth from the past can be hugged like this when no one in my class can.

'Lord, thank you for the blessing'

But if it's my mother feeding me, I don't feel anything. Probably because she is my mother I don't think off anything other than she is a momma.

There were times I stumbled on our haysack crib looking around, trying to walk or something else but was always carried back together with my brother carefully.

My brother did the same but with a baby's mind and not like mine. So far the days have been peaceful for us, until when we were now one year old. When our mother fell ill and died few days later.

Alice my brother was very young, very innocent to know what is happening. As for me who has a mind of a 19 years old, it was hard to think off anything. With all the hardwork she did to bring us out in the world was repayed with death.

Layed on the same haysack crib, I heard voices across the room.

"What do we do? Eleanor is no longer here"

"Who will take care of them?"

"Those poor angels, all left alone in times like this"

"I ain't taking them in, all I got is boys in the house. I can't afford to take two in again"

An arguement was followed after a talk of sympathies. Guess raising two children is hard too, I wonder what kind of world this is?

One woman walks out of that room and towards us she continued walking. Her footsteps pressed the ground with loud noises.

*Tack Tack Tack*

So slow and almost seemd elegant but a little scary. She faced the crib and stared down to us with a smirk. My, what a gorgeous woman. Long black hair lays on her pale white skin. She stood straight and high.

"I will take them in"

Is what she said, the people awhile ago cheered while others sighed with...sadness?

"This angels got beauty in them after all"

She picked up my younger brother whose now awoken by the sound of her voice. Yawned and chuckled softly in front of her, the woman had a soft expression just now.

Cute. Is what your thinking about right miss? A frowned face was all she on me, I gave her an attitude and she didn't like it. She got bad vibes around her and won't be fooled unlike my brother.

"Awgoo...(Ugly)"

In my most childish angry look I gave her. She didn't look in any further and danced around my brother in her arms.

"Alice! Alice! You will be my son. I will raise you and love you as my son as you shall do the same to me. Such a beautiful creature will be mine."

She sang in a glee while Alyce, oh dear poor Alice cheered happily not knowing all what was happening.

"As for you"

Hmph, she turned her head away and look only to my brother. That motherf*cker sure is cocky. Taking my brother with her.

She made a glamorous exit on her way out. Followed by many men, a maid in particular went to see me, anxious expression, she took me and wrapped me on a warm cloth. She took me to her arms and shielded me from the snow that fell off the sky.

That night was where we were left by our mother and soon was taken by another woman. The birthplace soon to be out of sight when I look back, nothing but an old barn almost in the state of collapsing as snow adds up to its weight.

Alice and I were no where to go, our lives were on the hands of a woman who dared to change the ways of our thinking. Trampling our fate day by day.
