Chapter 6 Everywhere Against

The next morning.

The sunlight was strong, and somewhat warm.

Xu Ke came out of his single room early and took the subway to the new house on the outskirts of Tianhai City.

The sixty-square-meter new house wasn't large, but it was enough for two people to live in.

But now, there was no longer a second person.

Xu Ke made his way to the elevator with practiced ease.

As the elevator ascended, he took a deep breath. His visit today was no different from any other day, but his mood had changed dramatically.

He didn't know whether his heart would stir with emotions once again when he opened the door to his new house and saw the furniture and items already left behind by Siao Jia...

"Ding."

The elevator arrived!

The familiar scene outside the elevator left Xu Ke momentarily stunned.

403.

He took out his key and inserted it into the lock...

"Click."

The front door remained immovable.

Xu Ke froze.

What's going on?

He turned the key several more times in disbelief.

"Click."

But the front door still didn't budge.

The lock had been changed.

Changed overnight!

No matter how much Xu Ke twisted, his key would not open the door any longer.

The door stood there, stoic, like a silent mockery from the Siao family and Li Jun.

They didn't even need to show up to leave Xu Ke feeling utterly powerless.

"Bang."

Grabbing the key, Xu Ke roared in despair at the door, "This is my house!"

He had still underestimated Siao Jia's heartlessness.

How long had it been?

To have the locks changed overnight, not even allowing him through the door.

Xu Ke let go of the key and scoffed at himself, "I actually thought I might get sentimental? Wishful thinking."

"I fought for three years to buy this house, and now I can't even get through the door... You really are ruthless."

He sagged to the ground, staring vacantly at the door.

At that moment, he suddenly caught a glimpse of a familiar silhouette in the trash can by the emergency passage.

Xu Ke stood up and approached, then paused in shock.

It was the backpack that Siao Jia had given him.

It was also the only gift Siao Jia had ever given him during their time together.

After six years together, the backpack he had treasured was now in the trash can.

Xu Ke silently picked up the backpack, pulling out the only things inside: an electric bike key and several intimate photos.

"Rip."

The photos were torn into pieces.

Xu Ke took the electric bike key, but threw the backpack back into the trash can.

There was no need to keep it.

As he was leaving, Xu Ke's heart suddenly skipped a beat when he remembered that the new house still held receipts for Siao Jia's tuition fees and debt notes that he had paid off. He wondered if Siao Jia would throw them away too.

...

Noon.

Xu Ke worked part-time as a freelance takeaway delivery rider, so he could start working as soon as he got orders.

But as he dressed and left, someone outside the residential complex had set their sights on him.

"Bro Jun, that kid Xu Ke is doing just as you said, back to working deliveries again."

"Deliveries?"

Li Jun, upon receiving the call, chuckled coldly, "I know. Ambush him."

"Got it."

Li Jun sneered, "Trying to play games with me? He's still too green."

...

Wearing a helmet, Xu Ke rode his electric bike under the blazing sun. Although it was only February, it was still sweltering enough to bring on sweat.

He rode close to the curb, still calculating the distance in his mind.

Just then.

From a blind spot concealed by the bus stop sign, where there were no surveillance cameras, a silver Ferrari suddenly charged out like a ghost.

Xu Ke's face twisted in shock, but it was too late to dodge.

"Screech."

A harsh braking sound pierced the air.

"Bang."

Xu Ke was hit and sent flying more than two meters away, his delivery contents of soups and liquids splashed all over the ground.

"Ah..." Xu Ke cried out in pain. He removed his helmet to reveal a bleeding forehead, and his foot was injured from the fall.

Seeing someone get hit, the surrounding crowd immediately gathered around.

A door opened on the Ferrari and Xu Ke watched the four people who stepped out.

The driver was dressed in a custom Armani suit, sporting an expensive Omega watch on his wrist, and adorned with designer brands from head to toe.

His female companion was wearing a tank top and ultra-short shorts, her fair skin complementing her beautiful face in a way that was extremely enticing and provocative.

The other two were a man and a woman.

In stark contrast to Xu Ke, who lay on the ground in his soaked delivery uniform, the group emanated an air of lavishness.

Xu Ke's gaze darkened as he looked at the couple ahead of him.

Li Jun, Siao Jia.

The other man and woman were Li Jun's henchman, Wong Teng, and Siao Jia's best friend, Yang Qing.

As a sidekick, Wong Teng naturally wore all brands as well.

Yang Qing, Siao Jia's best friend, worked at the bank and had also lent Siao Jia quite a bit of money—always under Xu Ke's name.

Yang Qing was also attractive, with a slender figure and carrying a Burberry, looking disdainfully at Xu Ke.

Seeing these four, how could Xu Ke not understand that this was Li Jun deliberately targeting him?

At that moment.

Li Jun looked at Xu Ke with a playful gaze and taunted, "Isn't that Xu Ke?"

"How come you've gone backwards? Not only are you still doing deliveries, but now you're also playing the scam artist?"

Siao Jia chimed in with Li Jun's mocking tone, scolding, "Truly despicable."

As they spoke.

The onlooking bystanders immediately scoffed with disdain, "So it's this delivery guy trying to scam a touch."

They despised such lowlifes the most.

Xu Ke's face changed; Li Jun was trying to frame him.

He protested through the pain, "What nonsense are you spouting? It was clearly your overspeeding and violation that..."

Li Jun just laughed contemptuously, interrupting Xu Ke, "Clearly you're the one who jumped out from the sidewalk."

The crowd around them grew even more hostile toward Xu Ke at Li Jun's words.

Their greatest annoyance was with electric bikers who didn't understand traffic rules and darted about recklessly. Now that Xu Ke had been labeled as a scammer...

This time, everyone sided with Li Jun.
