Everyone in the room gasped at my actions. I ran my hands through my hair and sighed, "I'm so so sorry. I-I don't know what came over me." Dr. Henderson picked up the needle and smiled, "I understand. This needle is quite large but please try and be strong for not only yourself but the persons that care about you."
I took a deep breath and nodded, "You're right, I can do this." I looked around the room, "Do you mind sending these people out? They are doing terrible things to my nerves." She nodded and gave a stern look to the other doctors and nurses, "Joshua and Andrew you're with me. The rest of you out, now!"
Two male nurses clad in white stayed behind and the rest went through the door muttering under their breaths. Dr. Henderson got a fresh needle from the case thing she brought, "I hope you don't mind them being here."
"No, it's fine."
They were both extremely muscular, I guessed she allowed them to stay just in case I went all crazy again. They stood at the door like bouncers at a nightclub.
Dr. Henderson wet the cotton with alcohol and rubbed it on my arm again. She looked into my eyes, "Are you ready?" I nodded.
"Are you sure?" I rolled my eyes, "Yes, just do it already!"
I turned my face away and closed my eyes as she prepared to inject me. The minute I closed my eyes I saw him and his needles. I tried to fight my fear but I guessed I wasn't as strong as I thought I was.
I felt the needle slightly and slowly pierced my skin. My fist acted on its own and connected with Dr. Henderson's straight nose. She fell backwards and clutched her nose. My eyes widened, "Oh shit!"
The two men charged towards me and the rest of my body just like my fists acted on their own. I elbowed one of them in the mouth but the other grabbed me. Blood ran from Dr. Henderson's nose, "Katherine! Calm down we are trying to help you!"
I gritted my teeth together, "Leave me the fuck alone!" I sank my teeth into the arm of the nurse that held me captive. He winced and released me from his gasp, "I'll never let you take blood from me again!"
As I was about to run off, the nurse I elbowed in the mouth grabbed my leg. I looked around in panic. My eyes caught a knife looking object on a nearby table and I grabbed it. The nurse cried out in pain as I rammed it into his arm. He let go of my leg and I ran out of the room without looking back.
Dr. Henderson ran to the door with a blood-stained white cloth at her nose, she pointed at me, "Stop that girl!" Everyone turned towards me and I gulped before taking off down the hall.
While I was running I bumped into a firm chest. My eyes met a pair of green eyes filled with confusion. Sebastian held me and tilted his head to the side, "What are you doing out here? Are you okay?" I opened my mouth to speak but closed it again when I heard multiple shouts from behind me.
I wiggled out of Sebastian's embrace and shot to the door just to be squared off by two security guards. I turned around and saw Sebastian and the other hospital workers behind me. I groaned and ran towards the stairs with them still chasing after me.
They continuously shouted for me to stop but I just kept on running, as a matter of fact, I ran even faster.
My chest rapidly went up and down as I struggled to catch my breath. The room I was in was filled with blood and it was starting to make me feel sick. I covered my mouth as I coughed. My eyes widened as I looked at the red liquid in my palm.
Blood?
"Shit," I cursed under my breath.
I guess the toxins reached my blood. I slumped down on the floor, "I wonder how long it'll take before I die."
I got up from the floor when I heard voices outside the door. "Have you checked in there?" I grabbed two blood bags as the doorknob slowly began to turn. I ripped the bags open and threw the blood in their faces as they opened the door.
"There she is!" Others behind me shouted.
I ran and hid into what I presumed was the cleaning closet. I knew I couldn't stay in there for long, sooner or later they would find me. I had another terrible cough and wiped my bloody hand in my dress.
I felt extremely sick.
I looked up into the ceiling for a vent similar to the ones I always saw in the movies. A smile formed on my lips when I saw one, "Bingo."
I pulled a chair below the vent and stretched for it. I sighed, "Being five feet and three inches is not fun." I looked around the room for stuff to use to build something for me to stand on.
I gave my masterpiece a wide smile. I touched it and it slightly shook from the left then to the right, "Unsafe and unstable but it'll have to do." I carefully climbed up and opened the vent. However, before I could crawl inside, my feet lost its support when the many things stacked together fell down with a loud crash.
"Shit!"
I managed to wiggle the rest of my body into the vent and close it just as two security guards walked in.
Why can't they just let me be? What does it matter to them if I die?
The space was small but I was able to pull my body through with ease. It was suffocating and hot inside the vents, it turned out that it wasn't as fun as movies made it look.
I stopped at one of the vent openings and the guilt rushed in when I saw Dr. Henderson and the other two nurses being attended to by other nurses. Sebastian ran inside the room with his hair a complete mess, "What the fuck did you do?" Dr. Henderson flinched at his tone, "We didn't do anything! She got all crazy just as we were going to inject her."
He pulled at his hair and rested his head against the wall. Well that explains the messy hair. I muffled a cough and continued moving.
"I'm sorry, Sebastian."
I reached a vent that opened into an empty room. I probably should've thought it through before I opened the vent. I fell and landed badly on my arm.
I winced as I tried to move my right arm, "Ouch!"
"Who are you?"
I froze in my spot upon hearing the small voice.
