"Rest in peace, Alice."

In the room filled with white dressed nurses, Alice laid there on her bed looking as calm as ever while the nurses around her ran around in a frenzy.

She shifted her gaze to the door and her happy eyes met my worried ones. Is she going to die now? I turned to Sebastian and Cloey that were looking in silently behind me, "Could you give us a minute?"

They nodded and proceeded down the white, empty hall. I came to realize that it was always empty and quiet in comparison to the other halls that were always crowded with patients, doctors, nurses and other persons.

A nurse stopped me as I wheeled my chair into the room, "I'm sorry but no visitors are allowed in at this time." "She's my friend," said Alice.

The nurse turned to face her, "But Miss Alice-"

Alice interrupted her, "What's the big deal? I'm already dying so can't I speak to my friend before I die?" The nurse looked down, "I'm sorry Miss Alice but I can't allow her in here." I rolled my eyes, "Fine then." I wheeled my chair to the door and stayed there.

I grinned before shouting, "Can you hear me well Alice?" She giggled, "Yes I can hear you." The nurse walked towards me, "Miss-" I cut her off with a raise of my left hand, "As you can see I'm outside so please let us be."

The nurse opened and closed her mouth looking between a grinning Alice and I. She sighed finally giving up and returned to work or whatever she was doing. Alice smiled, "You're very pretty when you're not sick-looking and dying."

I chuckled, "Thanks."

She ushered me closer with a wave of her hand. I looked at the nurses then back at her before wheeling towards her. The nurse that confronted me earlier saw us and returned her attention to what she was doing with a long sigh.

My hand found her small hand and clutched it tightly.

She had a bright smile on her small, round face but her gloomy eyes gave her away. Clutching her hand even tighter, I struggled to keep the tears at bay. I had to be strong.

"I don't know if you've figured it out yet Katie but I'm-" She looked down and slightly squeezed my hand. I looked around the room, "I figured since they were all here. What are they doing anyway?"

"I'm not really sure but I think they're doing some last minute check-ups for like research and stuff."

Nodding, I returned my gaze to her, "Are you scared?" She shrugged, "I knew I was going to die soon so I'm not really that scared." I furrowed my brows, "Then why are your eyes so sad?"

She looked up into the ceiling, "Well, I'm not really happy to die. There were a lot of things I wanted to do and see. I wasn't going to make my illness stop me from having dreams."

Alice yawned and her eyes slightly lowered, "I want you to live life to the fullest for the both of us okay? Even if things get tough and you feel like giving up, always remember that there are people that love and care about you."

Looking into my teary eyes, her eyes pooled just the same, "Including me. Our friendship was short but I'm very happy I got to meet you." I looked at my arm, "Us meeting almost cost me my arm but I'm happy too nonetheless."

She chuckled and removed her silver necklace that had a small dove on it. She showed it to me, "Isn't it pretty?" I smiled and nodded, "It's very very pretty." Her smile reached her eyes as she pushed it towards me, "I want you to have it."

"No, I couldn't."

She pouted, "I thought you said it was pretty."

I looked at her amusingly, "But it's yours." She puffed her cheeks, "I don't want it anymore." Raising a brow, I questioned her, "Why not?"

She yawned once more, "What use will I have of a necklace in a grave? It'd be so ugly on a skeleton." It seriously still amazed me how she accepted death with open arms as a child. I took the necklace from her, "I'll take good care of it, I promise."

Alice smiled, "I know you will, thanks."

Her eyes were very close to closing but she managed to hand me a sealed, brown envelope, "Deliver it to the address on the cover." Looking at the unfamiliar address, I couldn't help but ask, "Who is it for?"

She slightly yawned as she spoke, "My big brother."

My eyebrows pulled together, "I thought you said you didn't have any family." Her eyes were already closed when I finished my sentence. I quickly wiped the tears from my eyes. I knew she wouldn't want me to cry.

I leant over and pecked her cheek, "Rest in peace, Alice."

I wheeled away as the nurses came towards her bed. They lifted her and placed her on a stretcher before hurriedly pushing her out the door. Behind them were other nurses with bags and suitcases.

My confusion peaked so I couldn't help but ask, "Where are you taking her?"

One of the nurses stopped to answer my question, "She's being transported to Oliver City." Somehow getting even more confused I stopped the nurse before she could walk away, "Why can't she be buried in Hanson?"

The nurse then looked equally as confused as me, "What are you talking about?"

My brows shot up in surprise, "She isn't dead?"

The nurse smiled and shook her head, "Not at all, she's far from dead. We just gave her a few drugs to knock her out." The nurse rested her hand on my shoulder, "I assure you, she's going to be just fine."

"I thought her disease was incurable."

The nurse nodded, "It is, her heart cannot be cured but that doesn't mean she can't get a different one." My mouth dropped open, "Is that why you're taking her to Oliver?"

She nodded once more, "Yes, we finally found little Alice a heart."

I was beyond relieved. I decided that I was going to give the necklace to the nurse to return to Alice but unfortunately, she already ran off.

A bright smile appeared on my face, "I hope we'll meet again soon, Alice."
