I rushed into the police station and breathlessly spoke to the lady at the front desk, "I'm Katherine Martinez, I got a call about my younger sister being here."
"Katie?" I heard a familiar voice frantically shout.
Unfortunately, it wasn't the familiar voice I wanted to hear and wasn't the face I wanted to see.
Amelia went from Grandma's embrace and ran towards me, engulfing me into a hug I was too disappointed to return. "Thank God you're here," she exclaimed.
Alessandro shook hands with a gruff looking police officer and walked over to where we stood, "Oh Katie, you're here too?"
All the persons I least wanted to see were standing in front of me, talking to me as if everything was fine between us.
Grandma touched my arm, "Where have you been Katie? I've been calling you since morning."
I backed away from her touch, "When the phone goes straight to voicemail that means the person doesn't want to talk to you."
