Ujala's POV
Past~
A girl lived a life of bliss. Blessed with warm-hearted and affectionate parents playing nonchalantly in her backyard. Running from her vivacious mother who was after this girl. She turned left only to be caught by her merry father. Her giggles brought a laugh to her parents' faces. She kicked her father giggling as he made her soar in the air.
"Hayee Allah! Meri bachi ko neechy rakhain itni nazuk si to hai. (Oh God! Put my daughter down she's so fragile)" her mother gasped cladding her fingers on her mouth.
Obeying her mother he clutched the baby girl in his arms and glanced at her mother fervently and passionately. The passion their eyes carried was so full of love. The never-ending love. It looked as if they're not afraid of the world. They don't care about any other but only them. Her timid mother turned her gaze to the grass as his steamy gaze made her cheeks flushed. He took a few steps forward only to stop an inch away from her just to look at her spunkily.
OH just what a perfect family they looked like! He leaned closer only to rest his forehead on hers, placing his other free hand on her cheek as his thumb grazed. "Thank You." mumbling a soft thanks he lifted her chin only to meet her thick long lashes and beautiful dark brown orbs that were enclosed in the ring of hazel. "Thank You for being my partner, Mrs. Ibrahim Habib. Thank you for being the mother of my child. Thank You for giving me all the happiness and love. Thank You."
Hearing this melody from her husband she wrapped her arms around her husband resting her head on her baby's back. Hugging her he plants a kiss over her daughter's head and then his wife. "I love you and my daughter after my Lord more than anything." His wife's word took his breath away.
Closing his eyes he inhaled in the baby scent of his angle and the rosy scent of his wife. "I love you too" he retorted with all his heart.
"Ugh! you guys are so boring!" their daughter's voice boomed in the air making the couple laugh. "This is why I like Beauty and the beast more than you guys!! They did their so romantic dance and in the end, they kissed too!! And here see no entertainment!!! UGHHH" Their eyes popped out hearing their daughter's desire. Her mother's cheeks reddened and on the other hand, she was angry that how did her daughter saw that scene when she always skipped the end. Her father laughed hearing her daughter's words making her mother glared at him.
"Ujala meri bachi, woh kuch bhi nahi tha kiya hogaya ha beta. Main ny to kuch aesa nahi dekha. Or woh to camery ki editing thi js ki waja sy woh jab candy kha rahy thy to aesa laga. (Ujala my child, that was nothing. what are you saying dear? I haven't seen anything like that. they were eating candies at the end and the camera's editing made them look like what you are saying.)" She tried to clear the thing out from her daughter's head
"Jhoot na bolain baba ny khud mery sath dekh ky mujhye bataya ha jab mainny un hy kaha tha ky sirf princesses of princes hy kiss karty hain to phir baba ny bataya ky baba prince hain or ap unki princess. or apko pata ha baba ny kiya kaha?ky main bhi princess hun par main apny prince sy abhi mili nahi hun!! Par main ek din milu gi ussy or baba mujhye laky dain gy. ( You are lying baba told me when he saw that movie with me that he's a prince and you are his princess as I told him that only princes and princesses do kiss. And you know what he said? he said that I'm a princess too but I've not met my prince yet!! But I'll meet him one day and baba would be the one who will bring me, my prince, to me!)" She scowled at the man known as her husband in front of her who sheepishly smiled as if a kid getting caught eating chocolate.

Present~ two weeks later
Roaming on the grass back and forth biting on my nails inanely waiting for that only man to leave my class. I planned to attend my second class late again on today's date as Sir Umer was discussing with students of all grades about something that I don't know. My first unit was wasted because of him and now I could see the other one getting wasted too. Yesterday I skipped the half-day of school and went home early making an excuse about headache just to avoid him. I was avoiding Sir Umer since the day I went to his home. For the past two weeks, I was going home early, making an excuse for not attending the meetings, arriving late just to skip the assembly, delaying my classes whenever he was on a visit to the whole school.
I didn't see him since that day. One week after that he left Skardu for some business work I sighed in relief for one week. To my despair, he showed up yesterday after a week only to ruin my peace. He called every teacher for a meeting yesterday which I passed over making up a story that I had an appointment with a doctor. This school doesn't have a lot of staff so a single teacher who is legible enough teaches three to four grades alone a single subject. I bypassed another meeting that was held the day he was leaving Skardu.
I very well know that this attitude is highly inappropriate as I'm bringing up my matters with my professional. Maria also noticed my sudden behavior and she compelled me to fill in up all the details of that day. Noor also asked me the day it all happen and she was keen to kick his ass out.
A girl's honor, dignity, modesty, and respect are all that are precious to her and she can walk like a shining star in the world. And the world would see her as a shining star. But when only a single person starts to see that shining star as filth it'll lose its shine in front of the world. This is what happens in most eastern countries.
Sauntering unconsciously on the clearing my mind rambled in my thoughts when suddenly a not so familiar feminine voice interrupted me.
"Ms. Ujala? Are you alright?"
Turning around I met with a face that I had only seen from afar but never met her. She's Sir Umer's secretary Ms. Alia. She has always been sticking with him so I was never able to meet her. But now she is standing in front of me in a tight black suit showing her delicate curves.
"Yes. I'm alright." Passing her a smile she nodded and reciprocated it back.
Okay, she's not a bitch.
"Okay then Ms. Ujala Sir Umer Shadab is calling you in his office" She pointed to his room turning a little with her pen while keeping her gaze on me.
Her words shook my little world inside my head. The thing I was dreading for two weeks and hiding from is now bombarded on me. My mind gathering a lot of reasons for he called me but the consequence would be the same for every situation. His gaze would look at me like dirt and I can't tolerate this.
After a lot of thinking, mustering up the courage, and praying for everything to go smoothly I made my way to his room.
•••
Knocking on the door in front of me I heard a rough "Come in". Shutting my eyes tightly I took a sharp breath to ease the anxiety inside of me. Reciting Bismillah I tilted the doorknob, giving a light push to the door I caught the glimpse of the man who was the reason for the uneasiness of my heart sitting on a revolving chair reading a blue file his back facing me, and I made my way in.
"Close the door" he ordered not moving from his posture a little.
I nodded, knowing he can not see me I turned around and shut the door close with a soft force. I stood there holding the doorknob I sighed once again and then turned around only to meet with a pair of dark raven orifices peering at me coldly.
No emotion. Only his dominant aura radiating the emptiness behind those dark eyes. I wonder what's concealed behind that mysterious darkness besieging his eyes that made him what he is now. His eyes are hard to read as if they are made of stone. But a Precious Stone. Whoever got this stone would be the luckiest person. But after all, I'm comparing him with a stone.
A stone that cannot smile. A stone that doesn't have a heart. A stone that can bleed a person. A stone that's only...used by people. A stone that doesn't have its own life.
His gaze on me held firm not moving an inch away from me. I didn't even notice when he turned on his chair facing me. I stupidly stood by the door not able to control myself under his gaze I unconsciously fiddled with my scarf.
"Sit" His voice harsh yet robust sent a new set of agitation in me. Not being apt to focus on the aftermath of the conversation I followed his command.
Talking slow yet shaky steps to the chair before his desk I pulled it out and sank in. Conscious of his gaze on me my whole body straightened up and my fingers fidgeted without my realizing under the table.
The room was large, clad in white, had a sofa set of seven at the center of the room while his desk was placed at the back straight to the entrance. Racks of the bookshelf were placed surrounding the sole wall. On his left, the large glass wall coating the whole wall gave an angelic view of the rivers and mountains outside.
"Ms. Ujala Habib." his voice echoed in the room bringing my attention to him. "I believe that you are aware of my nature that how much I hate the employees whom I pay for Nothing!" His voice resonated in my ears.
Not getting his point where he wanted to take this conversation I still nodded my head.
I was so afraid to meet his gaze yet I cannot do anything. It's been weeks since he insulted me. Humiliated me to the brim where I felt like choking.
That day he had rubbed the past, the reality on my face!
I was pulled out of my trance when his voice resonated in my ear, "Then you must infer what I'm about to do." placing his palms on the table he interlaced his fingers together. I scrunched my brows this time showing him his words were flying above my head. "Ms.Ujala Habib. I must say that your heedless behavior towards your job is unendurable for the reputation of our School and College."
His words made me snap my eyes at him that were roaming at the wall behind him a few seconds before. Knitting my brows I shook my head and the words just flew out of my mouth not paying any heed to its tone.
"Sir, you are judging me so wrong, I always put my work before anything." I protested in front of the egoistic man who is not fond of 'Nos' much.
"Oh Really? You're trying to say my observations are wrong?" He snickered sarcastically at the pointless thing I've said. Deep down I know that I've not been very professional around him for the past few weeks.
But still, I continued to protest, "No I'm saying this but it's y..." I left my words hanging in the air as he cut me off.
"16 Nov late marked, 17 Nov late marked, 18 Nov absent- reason headache 21 Nov absent-reason an appointment with the doctor 22 Nov late marked and took a half-day off 23 Nov late marked and skipped two units 25 Nov absent- reason personal 26 Nov not present in the meeting and passed over one unit. The whole week present after that without anything ignoring. 4 Dec not present in the meeting and took a half-day off and left today 5 Dec late marked and yet skipped the whole unit wandering in the garden." Closing the same blue file that I never noticed was on his lap he tossed it in front of me making me flinch he glared at me.
When did he start to keep records?
I didn't utter a word. What would I even say? That the information is all wrong? He would only laugh at me if I even dared to say this. How do I tell this man that the reason behind all of this is only him? Behind all of my behavior is only his words that are pushing me. I want to whack his face right now and tell him the one who should have to be blamed is him! Only him. But how could I?
"Open the file" His authoritative tone awakened the lifeless cell of my brain.
Obeying him I brought my shaky hands to the file and I cursed them internally for showing how fearful I was. Tugging my fingers inside it I took my time flipping the file to open and my eyes landed on the envelope placed above the papers.
I looked up at his dusk eyes who were already looking back at me as if already knew I was going to look at them.
"Open the envelope" he pointed via his eyes to the envelope as he leaned back on his chair resting his cheek on his palm that was already standing on the chair arm.
I looked back at the envelope as curiosity took the best of me I picked it up and started to open it. Tugging the paper out I unfolded the paper and a gasp made its way out of my mouth reading the bold heading from which I was frightened.
