Chapter twenty-seven

The five people watched the video that Maxwell had on his laptop. Lucy had nagged Zeke until he agreed to come with her to stay in the Leroy mansion for a while until Regan was fine and able to go to work again.

"Why didn't you all tell me earlier?" Regan asked. Oddly, he wasn't angry but surprised.

"Solo queria que supieras despues de tu recuparacion complete." Maxwell replied.

"He said he wanted to wait until Regan was fully recovered." Lucy explained to Elena who was already looking at her for a translation. "We are involving the police this time right?" she asked no one in particular.

"I think we should," Elena voiced her thought.

"Of course," Zeke replied. "He has gone too far this time and we have gathered enough evidence against him."

Regan said nothing as he stared at Elena intensely. It was time to stand up to Connor and expose his dirty deeds. She went quiet for some seconds before she said, "I want to press charges."

The people went quiet as they waited for her to say something else. Elena brought out her phone and showed them screenshots of old threat messages. "These are the threats he sent after he made me do it. And I also have call recordings. Max has a video or two, he must have showed them to you." she turned to him. "He will explain better."

After the meeting with the 'chef continentales', Maxwell had gone to make rounds knowing that his boss was still in his office with the girl. After the rounds, he was about to head back to Regan's office when he saw her walking out of the office. She looked dejected and beat up. As she made a turn on the hallway, Connor stepped out at the same time making her almost jump out of her skin.

He said some things to her and she looked frightened and even paler than she had been before she left his office. After the conversation, Connor left her on the hallway and headed to the kitchen lobby with an evil maddening smile on his lips.

Maxwell went home that day and began to keep his tabs on her. If she meant so much to Regan, then she meant a lot to him too.

Thankfully he had placed cameras all around the hallways and in the kitchen after the passing of the older Leroy couple. He sighed as he thought about them. He opened his laptop and quickly checked the recordings of the hallways. He watched them intently and tried to make out what the Irish imp had said to her. He was a little too far from the bug he had placed on the wall. His frustration simmered when he leaned in closer to her and said something. She was trapped between the wall and him and she was closer to the bug. She pressed further into the wall to put more distance between her and the devil she had once loved. He leaned in closer to her and said slowly into her ear, "I came here for you. you can't hide from me and even if you do, I'll find you and make you Regret it."

He almost burst out in joy. The bug had gotten the most important thing he had said. He immediately transferred the clip to his USB stick.

The next day, he checked on Elena without her notice and found something else. He wasn't the only one doing the following. Connor was hot on her trail and somehow he managed to get a hold of her. It was easier because she didn't drive that day. He followed Connor and started to record again with his phone. When Connor took her to her house, he had tried to enter into the house but the imp had locked the front door which was the only entrance. He tried the windows but they were barred. Then the idea hit him, he quickly ordered an uber, went back to the car her had parked in-front of the car, started it and blared the horn. The trick worked just like magic. Elena's house was located in a sparsely occupied area and Connor rushed out to see if he had anyone keeping tabs on him. He chased after the empty car that drove the street. Maxwell immediately dashed in to the house and carried Elena away. The uber arrived in less than thirty minutes and he took her to the Gennadios main house.

He showed the clip to Regan and he decided that she was going to be employed as the personal chef. Regan had entrusted Elena into his hands and had him go with her to pick up her belongings as she was to move to the Leroy mansion immediately and unsurprisingly, Connor visited again and as usual he kept his video camera on. The imp had tried to attack him but the middle aged Mexican was stronger than him. He temporarily crippled Connor and took Elena away to the mansion.
