Looking Ahead

* a room somewhere inside the village

The room consisted of two single beds, a pair of chair and table and an adjacent room consisting of the washroom. The pale teal ceiling of the room was worn off and signs of withering were visible possibly due to water that occasionally seeped through the walls from the heavy uncertain rain.

But for now, the sun shined through the only broken window, which was half covered by the dusty curtain, bringing the only light in the room, located on the opposite side to the door.

The wood that made the frame of the furniture had turned hollow on exposure to the termites. Every movement made a creaking sound as if yelling for rest.

Though cleaned thoroughly the sheets still reeked of dust and mud maybe due to the lack of detergents.

On one of the beds laid Rein quietly staring the ceiling lost in his thoughts. On the bed beside him a little stature waddled through the sheet murmuring something to himself.

"It's already been a week and there haven't been a word about the capital, we can't just waste time like this!" said penguin in fit of rage.

"We can just break the barrier and storm right in," said Rein impassively. *still laid back.

"Yeah, right! so that he can capture me and fry me for eternity," yelled penguin, "you aren't strong enough to take them all alone!", he added.

"What do you want me to do beg them to help me, no thankyou!!!", Rein yelled back *a bit agitated.

*penguin jumps off the bed and walks toward Rein

"Asking for help isn't begging, Rein!", said penguin trying to deescalate the situation.

"I did make a deal with them, and I'll make sure they uphold it", said Rein in a grave tone.

Penguin: Bu.. * stops

Rein gets up from the bed towards the side facing the door as if being alerted.

 "Come in," said Penguin.

The door opens with a creaking sound, bringing a burst of light on the shadowy figures sitting inside the room. On the other sides were Lark and Vilson.

"It's rather dark in here", said Vilson.

Receiving no response Vilson continues, "Sir Haldem has called for you, Rein".

"About time," said Penguin.
