A young boy was standing in front of a kid who was being picked on. He was facing three kids. One had wings and could fly while the other had super long fingers. They were led by a boy with hedgehog hair and an explosion quirk. The boy with green hair was standing his ground despite not having a quirk, and he was joined by a girl who had similar hair to his.
"If you keep doing this Kaachan, I won't forgive you!" the boy said, "Just because you have a quirk doesn't mean you have the right to bully people around!"
"Well, the quirkless deku wants to be a hero," the blonde boy said, "It's time you learned your lesson."
He then threw an explosion at the poor boy knocking him over. The girl was infuriated. She turned to the boy with wings and shot a fireball at him knocking him down. The finger kid was scared.
"You want some too?!" she asked.
The fingers boy ran away. She went back to her brother to make sure he was alright. He had a few bruises and started to sniffle a bit, knowing he was beat. The girl hugged him.
"Its ok Izuku," she said.
Izuku Midoriya is a young boy who dreamed of nothing more than being a hero. He admired heroes all around the world, but none more than All Might. He was the son of Hisashi Midoriya who was a detective who did cases with pro heroes. His mother Inko was a stay at home parent who watched over Izuku as he grew.
He couldn't wait to see what kind of quirk he got. His twin sister Izumi had a quirk that allowed her to manipulate fire. Izuku however was quirkless. His hopes of being a hero were dashed.
Flashback
A few days ago he went to the doctor to see if he had developed a quirk.
He was excited to see what he was capable of.
However his hopes were dashed.
"I'm sorry but I am afraid there is no hope for him," the doctor said, "He is quirkless."
"There must be a mistake," Hisashi said.
"We've run the test a thousand times," the doctor explained, "Your son has came out with the same results. Your son will never become a true hero."
Deku has tears in his eyes.
Inko was shocked.
"You cheat," she said, "How can you build up my son's hopes and then disappoint him like this?!"
Flashback end
The two of them were approached by the boy whom they were defending.
"Excuse me, are you ok?" he asked.
Izuku nodded his answer without saying anything.
"Yea… uh-huh," the boy finally answered.
"I think that was cool how you stood up for me," the little boy said, "From what I heard from them, you wanna be a hero right?"
"Yea," Izuku said, "But….. I can't. Not without a quirk."
"That's the problem with the world today," the boy said, "They all think you need a quirk in order to be a hero. Well honestly the world is completely blinded by that theory."
Izuku was listening to the boy's rant with stars in his eyes.
"You don't need a quirk to be a hero, all you need is spirit, and determination, and I can tell you have both, with a mix of courage," the boy continued.
"W-why are you being so nice to me?" Izuku asked.
"Let's just say I'm a guy who likes determined people and hates bullies," the boy answered, "What's your name?"
"I-I'm… Izuku…" Izuku answered, "Izuku Midoriya."
"And I'm his sister, Izumi," Izumi said introducing herself, "My quirk as you saw allows me to shoot fireballs."
"And my name's Yoshito Tainaka," Yoshito said, "My quirk allows me to run at fast speeds. Starting today, I'm gonna be your new best friend."
He then hugged his new friend with a smile. Izumi joined in on the hug, happy for her twin brother.
For the next few years, the three of them became best friends always being there for each other. Izuku was still bullied and ridiculed for being quirkless, but at least he had two people by his corner. When he was 10, Hisashi had a gym installed in their apartment for Izuku and Izumi. While Izumi worked on her fire quirk, Izuku worked on his muscles. By the time he was 14, he was built with muscles. He was almost as tall as his sister but she was still an inch bigger.
"Wow, you got some muscles little brother," Izumi jokingly said.
"You know, I'm 10 minutes older than you," he said.
Later on, the two of them were heading to class. They saw a pro hero with a gigantification quirk fighting a giant villain. Izuku saw this as an opportunity to start writing things down in his hero analysis book. It was filled with dozens of heroes and other people with quirks.
"Hey you're writing things down about heroes?" asked a bystander, "That's a great skill you got! No doubt you'll be a good hero one day."
"Thanks sir!" Izuku said.
Izumi then dragged her big brother away, not wanting to be late. Classes started and the teacher came in with some application papers.
"So normally I would pass these around but I'm gonna be real," the teacher said, "YOU ALL WANNA BE HEROES!"
The students all went into an uproar hearing that. They showed off their quirks with the exception Yoshito, Izumi and Izuku. A lot of people dreamed about being heroes.
"Tch, if you guys think I'm gonna be in the bottom of the barrel you're sadly mistaken," Bakugo said with his usual cocky grin, "I'm gonna be the only one to make it into the top hero program known as U.A, and you all are gonna be a bunch of rejects with no hopes or dreams."
"Hey, don't you act all cocky on us!" said a student.
"I'm just being honest. I already aced the mock test and now its time to show them what I'm made of with my quirk! By the time I graduate, I'm gonna go up there and become the richest hero of all time and surpass all heroes, especially All Might!"
Bakugo continued his rant and then the teacher said, "Oh yea, you wanted to enter U.A right Midoriya?"
Hearing that made people start laughing and taunting Izuku. He didn't have a quirk.
"Please, they'd reject him before he even stepped into the entrance!"
"That quirkless reject? All he does is study and take notes! He's nothing compared to Bakugo."
"Oh yes, his sister and Tainaka are also entering." the teacher said.
The class stopped laugiing.
"So you laugh at my brother, but not at me or our friend Yoshito?" Izumi asked, "In case you guys don't know, Izuku has been working out and earned some muscles. At least he stands half a chance, whether he has a quirk or not!"
"Preach to the choir," Yoshito said, "He's got smarts and he takes a lot of notes on heroes and their quirks!"
Bakugo then turned around and used his quirk, destroying Izumi's desk.
"That quirkless loser will never be a hero!" he shouted, "He's nothing! He has no quirk and he needs to wake up and face reality!"
"HEY! At least dad believes in him," Izumi said, "He loves him regardless whether he has a quirk or not."
"He probably just says that to hide his true feelings, and he's probably ashamed of having a quirkless reject in his family," Katsuki said.
Izuku knew the pain too well that he faced years ago.
"I'll bet he secretly wishes deku wasn't even his son," Bakugo said.
That was the last straw. Izuku grabbed his stuff and ran out of the classroom. Everyone was silent after that. He decided to head back home where he could cry in peace. All he wanted was to be a hero but nobody believed in him. Izumi looked at Bakugo infuriated with what he just said.
"Take back what you said right now," Izumi said.
"Or what bitch?" Bakugo asked.
"Or else THIS!" Izumi said threatening him with a fireball, "You know my quirk is very powerful and I could burn you to a crisp right here right now!"
She turned to the other students.
"And let that be a lesson to the rest of you!" she said, "You pick on my brother, you answer to me, and my flames!"
Despite being the younger twin, Izumi had high hopes for her brother and knew he had what it took to be a hero, even if others didn't. She and Yoshito rushed out to go find Izuku.
