THE CRIMSON NIGHT CORPS

A bright flash engulfed the whole room of the hospital where Arnold is staying, and when the flash disappeared, our surroundings has changed.

We are in front of a gigantic building clad in white. It is the uniform color of the Special Defense Committee. In the entrance of the building are three flag poles representing the country, the SDC, and the Crimson Night Corps.

The country represents the crest of the sun surrounded by six stars, it is said that the founder of this country has six loyal vassals and so did not lose its name even once in the wars of old age.

They are all powerful ability-users that no one can oppose but also did not abuse their power, their legends are still being passed until this generation.

SDC's flag contains a white dragon, it is once said that a dragon is living in this country and is acting as our guardian even before the founder arrived. Just like him, the SDC will keep the peace and order in this country.

The final one is the flag of Crimson Night.

It is a red flag with wings of metallic black, even I don't know what it means.

"Commander, you are the one that decided the flag of the Crimson Night, right? Could you tell us what is the meaning of the flag?"

It seems that Orion is just as curious as I am and asked what I am about to ask too.

Commander Teivel halt his movement and started thinking.

He might look immature most of the times but it seems that he poured his passion into the flag.

"The meaning of the flag huh…"

He rests his chin on his finger and gently smiled.

"There is no such thing."

Not even the two that are originally accompanying the commander seem to know that and got shocked.

"I mean, as long as it's cool and all it's great, right?"

Seriously, can he get serious even once.

The flag of the SDC's branch that we worked hard getting into is meaningless.

Everyone sighed except the commander.

"Eh, what's with those sighs of disappointment?"

"I have no time to waste in thinking for meaning of the flag you know? I mean it is decided on the spot when I got promoted as a commander of a new corps. I just think of what's cool."

"Um, commander… ack!"

My body fell to the ground.

I almost forgot that I am injured and the pain strike me like a bolt.

"Ah, my apologies, I almost forgot why I came myself to get you"

The commander kneeled and grabbed my hand.

"I'll relieve you now."

Light gathered to my body and my injuries are gone.

I feel like I am as good when I am at my best form, no, it feels like my body has become even stronger.

"Commander's healing not just recover you from injuries and stamina, it will also slightly improve your physical abilities."

Miss Emma explained further.

But it is really amazing,

An ability to heal all physical injuries, to instantly travel, to increase another's physical ability, and he is also a fighter that famed for his strength.

This is our commander, the only son of the 'Ellis' family, Teivel Carmine Ellis.

What a monstrous person.

"Wow!"

Orion look at the commander with admiration.

"Well, I want to tour you around, but I have a business to attend to so Eric will show you to the training grounds. Be careful not to die and I'll just heal you later. Bye!"

With that said, the commander is gone without leaving any trace.

I am left is shock for a few seconds until Miss Emma declared that she would part ways with us.

Apparently, miss Emma is hired as the chief of technological development in the Crimson Night Corps so she would be going in a separate place.

"Now, newbies follow my lead."

He smiled roughly while showing the direction. We used an elevator to access the underground training ground. The wide space contained all necessary training facilities and even sparring rooms that are wider than the one's we used in school.

"So… um…"

He acted so confidently before but he is now hesitantly trying to convey the message in the piece of paper that the captain left earlier.

"Hah, the captain sure is harsh even in the newbies huh."

I just get a really bad feeling. Is that related to the captain telling us to try not to die later.

"So… you'll both go to the training ground and fight until one of you is half-dead. That is what the captain said. Also, he said 'I really want to see best friends fighting each other to death because of me but I can't help it because of my work. Eric will record everything, see you at the recovery wards later.'"

"Fight each other to death?"

I am very shocked at the commend left by the commander. He seems to be an easy going and light but for him to ask his soldiers this. Even if he has the right to, it is far too much.

While I am complaining, Orion is trying to think rationally despite the situation.

"No, you guys will fight until one is half-dead, not basically dead."

"That's basically the same though!"

"Fu-fufufu…"

In spite of my complaints Orion laughed like he discovered something.

"Let's do it. Arnold, let's fight!"

Orion declared that he wanted to fight me but I still don't get the essence of it. If they want to see our ability, they should just set up a safer mock battle. If they want to train us, there are tins of devices here.

"It seems that only one of you understand why a battle to near death is necessary huh."

Hey, why the hell is it necessary?

"Well, unlike Arnold, I can grasp the situation pretty well."

Exactly, what kind of situation am I supposed to grasp.
