THE DARKNESS SLEEPING UNDER THE GUISE OF LIGHT

I did not know for how long I am here, trapped inside the darkness, and bound by golden chains.

Beneath me is a magical formation made by the gods in order to seal me.

I could not cry anymore.

"Please, help me…"

I see, the same dream again huh.

Just when I am finally making progress to free myself from the seal of gods, an unexpected development happened.

My soul has split into seven and has developed their own consciousness, although I am still the dominant one, there is one that is constantly antagonizing me.

Calling yourself an emperor when you are but a piece of my soul, did all of my arrogance become concentrated to him.

Fu, that could be possible.

The emperor would not be able to kill me but it he is becoming more and more of a threat, I tried to kill him twice already but he survived, furthermore he used people who are the brothers of my vessel as his new vessels every time, should I go on the offensive?

I have already restored more than half of my soul but my ability to control space is still lacking compared to that emperor.

"Ahh, this is quite difficult. I don't know what to do?"

The rain outside can be seen blowing hard with the glass windows that covers the eastern walls of my office in our headquarters.

There is a huge screen in which I am gazing at for quite a while along with my subordinates that seems to be unenergetic except Eric who is grinning wide.

"Hang in there, commander, I will break the enemy's defense, just strike them down after."

It has been a while since our last mission, and the last piece of my soul has been travelling every here and there like a mole popping up and down the ground.

As of now I am playing a game with my subordinates, when Eric brought this game, I thought it was a total waste of time but somehow after playing it I got hooked and now, us four males, are clearing the missions one after another.

Miss Emma, said she did not like it but in reality, she had already played this game multiple times as I read her mind.

"Yea, right. Do as you like."

I don't get how carefree these people are, I am basically the enemy of humanity and here we are playing some game.

I wonder what would they look like if they found out.

The founder of the Ellis family is no saint but a devil who has been sealed in this world.

Would they think of it as a joke or point their weapons against me?

Somehow, I am dying to know.

"This is quite enjoyable."

I let out a small laugh as I continued to play the game.

"For real. I'm glad that you're enjoying it commander.

Before I transfer to this Corps, I brought games to work too but I end up having my pay cut to half for a year.

Hahaha!"

"Heh, that must be quite nice, should I do it too?"

With that statement, Eric became pale and made a forced grin.

Very adorable my subordinates are, I want to boil them all in pot with the herbs I grew in my little garden back home.

"You made quite a nice face there, don't worry I am just kidding."

Eric is once the vessel of my sprit fragment that assumed the name Monte Pico, when I extracted my soul from him, I thought that he would be nothing but a useless junk but surprisingly, some of the power that he gained from my soul retained in him that made him easily pass as a rank-A battle-ability user.

I bet it is the same for the others that is why I gathered them here as my loyal subordinates.

I believe that they will prove useful in capturing my last soul fragment, if not they are still good playthings.

"Don't say that even as a joke commander, it is bad for my heart.

Just thinking about how I emptied my savings back then is practically hell itself."

Hell, huh. Humans have that concept no matter where and when they exist.

But for me, a devil who has lived for as long as I remember, I have never been there.

The entities brandished with the tag devil either have become slaves of gods, have their existence dissolved, or sealed just like what happened to me.

I heard before that there are devils who join forces to defeat gods but horribly lost.

Just thinking about it makes me laugh.

"Ahaha, it is really funny."

"Don't tease me that much commander!"

Orion and Arnold who were playing alongside us laughed a bit too.

It seems that they still could not be comfortable around me for a reason but they are getting better than they were from the last month's expedition.

They were so cute giving their best in training too.

*Ring-ring*

I stepped out a bit and answered the phone call from the black telephone at my desk.

As I expected the call is from the person I have been waiting for, it seems that he finally resolved himself to face me head on.

"It seems that you would stop running away.

Did you deem that it is already impossible to for you to win and will surrender?

Well, that is not bad from my side but you would not think like that, right?

You must have prepared all you can to prepare me a great surprise, that is how 'I' think after all."

How cold of him, or maybe how cold of me would be better?

Either way he dropped the phone after giving coordinates and time, how typical of me.

My grin seems to have bothered my subordinates, especially the eldest of them, Eric.

"Is there something that picked your interest again commander"

Look at him acting like he knows the most about me. Well, that might be true here.

"We have been invited into a surprise party, that is all."
