The beginning stages of their plan had started like any other day, although a great anxiousness had settled upon the shoulders of both brothers. Jake had returned first to Alexcyn’s room, shedding his comfortable clothes for his riding ones and gathering the pieces of himself he had placed in that room.
When he had met Palis again at the stables of the manor, he noticed something different about the calmer brother, “What’s wrong?” He had asked him upon reaching the horses he had gathered for them.
“Argax saw us leave,” Palis said, looking back towards the manor as they climbed onto their horses and began trotting away slowly, “He didn’t say anything but…” And it was then, with the look Palis had in his eyes that a twinge of guilt seeped into Jake.
