Chapter 43: A Fight between Brothers, Part Two

Jake and Palis had both rushed from the factory and rode as hard and as fast as they could towards the manor. Once they had reached their home, a devastating sight awaited them.

At the front of the house, situated in the midst of the garden before the large oak doors, Argax and Aster stood. Only Aster didn’t stand alone, instead she stood with Mimi before her and a large silver dagger placed at her throat.

Jake had all but lunged himself from his horse before it had even stopped fully, and made to grab at Mimi before Palis held him back. Aster’s grip on the dagger had tightened, and blood had been drawn.

Jake felt a rage in him begin to boil as he looked into her wide, fearful eyes.

“Argax,” Palis greeted kindly, timidly, as he spoke to his brother, “What are you doing?”
