"Rex. You said it wasn’t anything special."
"It isn’t," he shrugs. "It’s just a car."
"Want me to show you a picture of my baby bug before she got smashed?"
"Obviously."
I pull my phone out and slide my finger along the screen until I come up with a picture I took on a whim one day. I’d just spent hours hand washing and vacuuming out the interior and was proud of the work I’d done. I sent the picture to Ari and she laughed at me for days, saying I was like a teenager, proud of their first car. She asked if I kissed it before bed at night, too.
