Outside, the rain seemed to have tapered off to a steady drizzle, and the temperature had dropped as soon as the sun sank below the tree line. Poppy volunteered to clean up from dinner if Hunter promised to check in on Cheyenne and Duffy.
Making his way to the barn, he smiled to himself as he remembered the look on her face when hed told her Duffys name was Widowmaker. It pleased him that she was worried about the horses after the violent storm. There was a great deal about Poppy that pleased him.
He raised the green Coleman lantern in front of him, ignoring the clinging cold of the still-wet chambray shirt hed put on to go outside. The only dry shirt was the one Poppy was currently wearing, and he wasnt about to take it from her.
