Ailis, Part 4

Chapter 24: Ailis, Part 4

Holding onto two of the lighter sacks, Ailis tied off the last one before picking it up and rushing out. The two snuck around the corner, out through the kitchen doorway, and into the halls. The servants would be attending to the bedrooms and other pressing matters so the halls should have been mostly free. To their luck, they met no obstacles and left through a door leading to the gardens. They ran past the tall standing plants and leaning trees, recklessly trampling flowers as they passed. Passing through a gate, they went and trudged into the tall green grass. Ailis was getting hot under her servant clothing which was not tailored for her rebellious task. Ahead she could see the sheep gathered and grazing. They stopped when spotting their clansmen huddled amongst the bushes from afar, by a stone fence bordering the woods that spread around in a large half circle.
