As Xiajun waited in a private room for Minnie to arrive, he touched the tip of Maria's diary inside his pocket, wondering if he should tell her about it. He almost took it out to read it again when the door slid open and Minnie wobbled in, and having changed into a purple wrap dress that hugged her body very tightly, she looked quite ridiculous.
But Xiajun had other things on his mind. He straightened up as she sat opposite him, heaving a big sigh.
"I'm quite sorry for Hanni's behavior earlier," she said, giving him an apologetic smile. "She can be quite rude without knowing it. I'm afraid she's quite blunt when it comes to words."
"That's alright," Xiajun muttered, distracted, as he stuffed the diary back in his pocket. "Let me ask you one thing, Madame. And I'm genuinely quite curious about this."
Minnie leaned forward to hear the question. "Yes?"
"Did you ever see any bruises on Maria's body?" he asked.
