Something outside the window

|| Skully's POV||

"Good thing old man Ryker gave the whole class a week off!" Toni barked happily in front of the class, her grey wolf tail thumping against the floor behind her uncontrollably.

"Toni... this isn't a week off. The class got suspended..." Reks muttered under his breath, just loud enough for the wolf girl and a few of us to hear.

We were all headed to the dorms, something I didn't know existed until roughly an hour ago.

Ryker High has an off campus dorm about quarter a mile away from the main school building, only for Types who don't have parents or one form of a guardian or another.

I for one am glad because I doubt we would have survived much longer in an abandoned cabin we barely managed to clean up, and we couldn't keep stealing money and food for much longer anyways.

I wonder how our parents and other relatives are doing on one  side of the world or another, our dad, Ox B. Ronald, suggested the fam split up to reduce Ronald relate national disasters and managed to stow us away on a plane flying here.

Something what does puzzle me is why we got the invitation to come to Ryker High in the first place, nobody's entirely sure why and how the invitation process is carried out but I guess my siblings and I finally got a lucky break. Even better is that there isn't a tuition fee for most of the Type students, I and my siblings included.

I guess I was thinking deeply throughout our entire walk here cuz next thing I know I'm in front of two apartment complexes, the left one about 2 stories high and the other about 4.

They were made of brick and had a few cracks here and there, moss and vines decorated the walls of the dorms, giving them a sort of almost cheery atmosphere with the burst of green plants against the dull red of the bricks.

"Welcome to the S-2A dorm buildings. Left building for boys, right building for girls. No sneaking into the opposite genders dorm or risk expulsion from school. You all will most likely end up sharing rooms so please try not to murder each other before the next day..." Miss Teon who I just noticed was with us the entire time explained the rules to us all, trying her best not to sound intimidated by her own students, especially Rampart who stood at an astonishing 8'1 and Raza who downright intimidates everyone.

"You'll be allowed to come back to school after we've... settled things with the Type Force and the US government...I know it may seem unfair and it's not entirely your fault..."

I could feel all eyes including my own shift slowly to Raza, Rampart and Kuchisake who were all standing right next to each other, none of them seemed to be at all concerned by this.

"Goodbye my students! See you next week Wednesday!" Miss Teon waved to us and slowly faded away, that must be her Type power.

"Well best pack our bags and get going..." I whispered to my brothers and sister only to realize that they weren't with the class anymore, all three of them had already disappeared into their new living environment, most likely excited about not having to live in a rinky dink cabin on the outskirts of the town.

I motioned to pack our things when I realized..

We don't have any things.

"Welp. Best be on my way..."

"Welp this is... interesting..."

I'm currently sitting in my dorm room, bunking with the wolf child while the rest of the other girls were arguing about something downstairs as multiple crashes and smashes are being heard along with the distinct "rahahahahaaa!"of Raza's laughter.

"We haven't been here for up to 20 minutes yet..." Toni deadpanned, her wavy white hair shaking slightly.

"So what's it like?"

I look at her incredulously, her usually happy and somewhat airheaded tone dropping completely.

"What's it like being what?"

"Being a Ronald...the rumors..and some of your actions...make it seem like you're all monsters...murderers who probably eat babies in pies or something. I can't imagine how many places you guys have stopped at only to be moved again by forces beyond your control...the stigmatization must be intense...I mean look at what happened in class today..."

I sat in though for a bit, unsure what to do since most of my interactions with others are either me being feared and ignored or me ripping off the head of some soldier.

"It's...hard to be honest. We can't seem to go anywhere without causing some sort of panic. We've lost so many of our relatives and we've taken the lives of others all in a bid to protect ourselves. My parents decided to split up the family and let each of us go into hiding, somehow getting us an invitation to this school. It's unfair but what can we do about it?" My forked tongue flicked our for a second, thermo receptors detecting multiple heat signatures on the floor below us.

"Oof. Rough. Well if it helps you feel any better you at least have a friend in me. We Kemeno Types have to stick out for each other y'know!" She scratches the back of her wolf ears with her clawed feet, panting hard as a satisfactory moan escapes her lips.

"Heh..."

|| Fabe's POV||

"Hm. I can't sleep"

I was just lying on my bed, tossing and turning in all manner of comfortable, uncomfortable and downright akward positions trying to find the one that'll send me into a blissful night's rest after the end of a chaotic and bloody day.

Unfortunately this rest never came.

It was past midnight and the commotion from the girl's dorm had finally come to a stop a few minutes ago, changing the noisy environment into a deep silence louder than millions of cymbals crashing together.

Feeling a bit lonely and also hungry I got out of bed and went downstairs to grab a snack but a small ruffling sound for my attention first.

Creeping toward the window, I took a deep breath and flexed all my muscles, ready for any sort of encounter.

But there was nothing outside...

At least I thought...

The night sky was dark and there were no stars at all. The moon was also nowhere to be seen.

Strange...

Despite all that I decided to keep looking at the pitch black sky, nothing of note to be seen or heard.

Until it came to my attention that someone or something was breathing..very slowly.

I heard a sharp intake of breath just outside my window and stick my head out to see if I could see some animal or maybe one of my classmates going out for a stroll.

Only to see a lone figure, it's entire body blacker than the night sky, but seeming to shift constantly in an unstable manner, it's limbs and neck bent at unnatural and obviously painful angles. It's face wore a crooked and impossibly wide smile with jagged and deformed teeth that went round the length of it's head while it's empty but infinitely wise eyes looked like crude circles drawn by a preschooler as a black ooze leaked out of them like a slow waterfall.

A chill went down my spine as the unsettling realization hit me.

It's staring at me.
