Grains of Crumbling Sand

"You're going first or me?" Mizuki asks, swallowing a coil of fear once Brandon has left to check the upper floor. Hinata, who had been staring at the darkness with the same level of intensity as her, doesn't know what to say either. 

"Maybe you. Call my name if you need help and I'll rush down to save you," Hinata reassures her, and despite the animosity that has been obvious between them, Mizuki wonders why he's being so nice.

The sincerity in his words leaves her heart in a messy state, which she forcibly ignores for the sake of the quest. She nods, this too, while hiding her face as she climbs into the gap underneath the trap door.

He helps her without even waiting for her to ask, supporting her by her waist with care while holding one hand to keep her up, knowing that the injuries they sustained from the fight before would make manoeuvring more difficult for the both of them.
