"Amélie! Is there anything left to explain? You have hidden such a huge truth from me, for centuries! How pathetic have I always been in your eyes?"

He paused and looked into her eyes again, and Amélie was distraught because his eyes conveyed the vast magnitude of pain that was in his heart, instead of the anger that was reflecting in his tone.

He spoke again, desperately demanding an explanation. "Can you tell me what have I ever done to deserve all this? Wasn't it also my right to know about it? Wasn't I one of her parents? Why...then why have you done this to me?"
