Classes on the 'official first day' start a few hours later for 1st years than other years.
It was scheduled to allow the new students to bond in their new environment and give them zero reasons to be late to class. UA could afford this gap in lessons to occur as they have the best results in the country.
It was also because the students would have had a tour of the school and had already met all of their professors the day prior, so they would know where to head to and roughly what amount of time was needed to reach their destination.
Yes, those were the duties that the homeless man completely ignored.
How he still has a job as a teacher is, in said teachers' own words, illogical.
(A/N: Had to remove like a 1k~ rant on how Aizawa is a great hero but a terrible teacher in canon material. Let me know how y'all feel about Homeless-san's teaching prowess.)
The students were all fully moved into their dorm rooms.
Some students had plenty more luggage than others, some people needed help with construction, and almost everyone needed help with cooking.
The only people that could cook in Heights Alliance, the 1-A dorm, were: Sakuya Izayoi, Momo Yaoyorozu, Sato Rikkido, Katsuki Bakugou, and Tsuyu Asui.
However, out of those five cooks, two of them are specialized in baking cakes and other confectioneries and making spicy food, respectively. They were Katsuki and Sato. So, if you weren't in the mood for either, their skills were rather limited.
One student claimed they could cook cold soba. They dumped the soba noodles into a pot of water and promptly froze it. Just because the student was correct doesn't mean they were right. That person was kicked out of the kitchen along with their soba popsicle and banned from 'cooking' ever again.
A lot of the pre-purchased food in the fridge allocated for this week was gone due to the sheer number of students claiming and trying to prove; they could cook despite deep in their hearts knowing that the end product was destined for failure.
It was a chaotic mess the entire time. People were 'cooking' in the kitchen, yet no edible products dish out. The students grew hungrier, and in turn irritable, as time went on.
Sato and Tsuyu came through and saved the hungry crowd.
The other three people who could cook were busy doing their own things. Doting on their child in Sakuya and Momo's case, whereas Katsuki was busy laughing at everyone's faces when they had the nerve to say "bon appetit" and serve a plate of volcanic ash.
Sakuya and Eri's rewinding came in handy for recovering the ingredients from whatever abuse they went through at the hands of the students.
As the time hit 8:30 am, one of the students on the third floor was stirring awake from the aroma wafting over from the kitchen area located on the floor below.
On their large bed, they sat up against the headboard.
They ran a hand through their long hair as they pushed it behind their ears and out of their face.
The alluring aroma of breakfast clearly caught their attention as they began sniffing the air to make sure they didn't just imagine it and that there was indeed some food waiting to be eaten.
Taking care not to wake the other occupants of the room, the figure silently made its way to the walk-in wardrobe.
They began to pick out some more presentable clothing as they were in a rather revealing negligee at the current time. They may have been comfortable wearing that to bed, but they weren't comfortable with anyone but their special person seeing them in it.
The figure, after picking out some loungewear, made its way to the bathroom with light steps.
They soon realized that they were alone in the room, and all that being silent didn't really have a point.
This would have normally mildly upset the raven-haired woman, as she was the early riser in the relationship. Still, the revelation soon came that Sakuya, their wife, was probably the cause of the pleasant aroma.
If this was the same person from a few years ago and you told them that Sakuya could cook delicious smelling food. They would have politely waved it off as nonsense.
Sakuya was a terrible cook.
Well, that was the case until she used psychometry on an alternate timeline version of herself that was a chef.
From then on, Sakuya's cooking could rival professional chefs and even surpass it in certain areas.
Breakfast foods just happened to be one of those.
(Sakuya POV a few minutes ago)
After setting Eri down, who was in her adorable little pajamas.
'She may say she's a big girl now, but she doesn't want to stop wearing that unicorn onesie or sleeping with us. Not that I'm complaining.'
I began searching the pantry to see what I could make. It was always nice to have options, after all. There was enough for pancakes to be made for the entire dormitory.
Looking over to Eri, I asked,
"Sweetie, are you fine with pancakes today?"
"Mhm! Can I have c-carnel, car- the sweet sauce, please?"
"It's called caramel, and of course you can. Anything else?"
"Strawberries!"
Seeing her excitement and the way she threw her hands into the air, who was I to say no?
"Okay, can you help mama out with the cooking?"
"Un!"
After getting an enthusiastic nod, she came around the counter and off the stool; she began washing her hands. I had to hold her up to the sink for her to do that, though.
When she was aproned up and standing on a stool, I began instructing her on what to do. She successfully weighed and measured out all of the ingredients. Granted, some spilled on the marble countertop.
We were doing some extra fluffy souffle pancakes as they had a better texture and weren't as heavy.
The ingredients needed for 2 servings were:
6 tbsp cake flour
2 1/2 tbsp skim milk
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tbsp full-fat mayonnaise or kewpie mayonnaise
3 tbsp granulated white sugar
2 large eggs (egg whites and egg yolks separated (keep egg whites chilled in fridge until ready to use))
So to serve the entire dormitory, I would need at least ten times the amount.
Most likely, fifteen times the amount as Momo, Sato, Myself, Shoji, and Kirishima need to eat a lot more calories than normal people to maintain muscle mass or due to our increased metabolisms.
We added the milk, baking powder, vanilla, mayonnaise, and egg yolks in a large mixing bowl. Eri had some fun "making it snow" with her sieve as she sifted the flour into the bowl.
Luckily there was a mixing stand nearby, so we could leave that to combine until smooth and have a pale yellow color.
After I made sure to rub the mixing bowl of a different mixer down with a lemon wedge to remove any oils that may have been present, Eri poured in the "Icky" egg whites and sugar.
We let that whip on the highest speed the mixer allowed until stiff peaks could form. It took a few minutes to achieve those peaks.
I did hold it upside down over Eri's head, much to her terror. Thankfully, the mixer did its job properly, and nothing happened.
We folded the meringue mixture into the batter gently with a rubber spatula, making sure to lose as little air as possible. It was a long and stressful task, but we did it. It was still a light mixture and ready to be cooked.
Eri then went and washed her hands and went back to sitting on her stool, as the next step was the actual cooking part, and I didn't want her burning herself. Plus, I wanted her absolutely nowhere near me when I'm boiling sugar in the caramel making process.
Getting burnt with hot sugar is a pain you only need to know once to never want to associate with it ever again.
I brought the large skillet to a medium-low heat. Once the skillet came up to temperature, I placed 3 non-stick ring molds in the middle. I then filled them just above halfway and left ample room for them to rise.
After a few seconds, I added half a tablespoon of water on each side of the pan before putting a lid on it. This will steam the pancakes and let the top cook a little, making it easier to flip.
When they were cooking, I started on the caramel sauce. It was rather simple; I just combined 200g of light brown sugar, 4 tbsp of unsalted butter, 50ml of milk + heavy cream, 1 tbsp of vanilla extract, and 1 tsp of sea salt in a saucepan.
After whisking continuously on high heat until it thickened, I then poured it into a refrigerated glass jar to cool down and thicken some more.
After the tops of the flipped pancakes were completely cooked, which took around three minutes, I placed them all onto a plate and gently pushed them out of their molds.
I garnished with some strawberries and dusted them with icing sugar before serving it to my official taste tester, Eri.
She was already drooling and had stars in her eyes before even taking a bite. That was before the cooled down caramel sauce was drizzled on top of the stack.
As I turned around to refill the molds with more batter and get this show on the road, I could hear Eri's muffled squeals of delight as she shoveled the pancakes into her mouth.
Sato was the first person to come down. He helped me out a lot with keeping up with the increasing demand as more and more people awoke. He did ask for the recipe as repayment for his help, to which I gave it to him happily.
"Saku-chan~, did you save any for me?"
"Of course I did Himi-chan; there should be a plate near the..."
As I turned around, I saw Eri with another plate in front of her, a sheepish smile on her face, stuffing her mouth with another pancake.
"Well, don't worry. With Sato's help, I'll get some to you sooner or later, Himi-chan."
As I was focused on pancake making, I could only hear what they were saying,
"Now, now, Eri-tan. I can't believe you would eat your aunty Himi's pancakes. This requires a punishment."
"P-punishment?"
"Yep~ it's the evilest punishment mankind has ever thought of!"
"*sniffle* R-re-ally?"
"Yep, it's tickle time!"
'I don't know what I was worried about. It's Toga. She wouldn't ever hurt Eri.'
As I was finishing up with all the pancakes, I finally sat down to eat my own. As I was about to scoop the bite into my mouth, someone stole it from my fork.
Looking over my shoulder, I see a semi-tired Momo chewing happily on my pancake.
"So that's how it is… My wife loves pancakes more than me..."
She pecked me on the cheeks before taking the seat next to me,
"Not true at all. It's just your pancakes are rarer than your kisses, so I thought it best to savor your rare cooking."
I could only smile at her attempt to talk her way out of eating my food. We did eat our pancakes in a peaceful silence before I made my way back up to our room to take a quick nap.
I did wake up way earlier than I wanted to, plus I was hungry, so I couldn't just skip time as it would only make my hunger worse.
(Momo POV)
As I watched my wife walk away, mainly viewing her hips as they swayed, I resumed drinking my tea.
'I do wish that Sakuya was more of a tea person so she could appreciate this new blend my mother got me from China some more.'
I'm sure I can convert her soon enough.
Looking around the room with an amiable smile on my face, I noticed how chaotic my time at UA would be. When you spend enough time around Sakuya, you can just smell the chaotic energy in the air.
I saw that Mina was playing a card game with Himiko, Denki, and Kirishima. I had no idea what they were playing, and I'm more than sure that they didn't either.
Kirishima set down a card, "Ace of spades!"
Himiko pulled an UNO card out of nowhere and slammed it down, "+4."
Denki was fired up and was not about to be left behind, "Jolteon, I choose you!"
Mina had a smug smile on her face as she whipped out a yu-gi-oh card, "I summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon in attack mode!"
"" NOOOOO!""
I was utterly confused, but intrigued enough to keep spectating.
When they finally finished playing, with Kirishima somehow winning, Mina got up from her seat and declared the start of another game.
"Let's have a room presentation contest!"
(3rd person POV)
"Huh?!" Half of the boys shouted, equally parts confused and worried.
Momo stayed silent but raised her eyebrows from behind the cup that she was sipping high-quality tea from as if she was expecting this development.
Melissa was visibly nervous about the prospect of people entering her room but not nearly as nervous as Tokoyami was.
Thankfully for Melissa, Mina caught onto his nervousness and marched her way towards his dorm room along with Toru and Himiko.
Tokoyami wasn't pleased about people trying to enter his "Abyssal abode" and tried his best to obstruct their entrance. It only took two people to move him out of the way and enter.
As everyone was soaking in the dark and brooding atmosphere of the room, Eri was more intrigued by the sword and kept trying to reach for it until Momo scooped her up and away from it.
"This is foolish. Get out!" is all he needed to say to move the show onwards.
Everyone shuffled away and moved onto the next room, home to Aoyama. The walls were lined with gold-plated mirrors and even a gaudy suit of armor in the corner. It was blinding.
The french boy stood in the center of the room, laughing and spreading his arms widely, before looking them all in the eyes.
There was a disco ball hanging in the place of the light. The room's resident went on and on about how dazzling the room was to the point he was alone and still talking.
"The last person on this floor is..." Momo begins to ponder but doesn't finish, looking over at the purple-haired boy peeking out of the door.
A shudder ran through her spine as she thought of the possible horrors behind that door. Not willing to expose her child to such things, she turned to leave.
'How is he smaller than me? Is he a child too?' Eri pondered.
Iida proudly presented his room, standing at attention as the students filed in. What instantly caught everyone's eyes was the sheer amount of glasses he had stocked up on his shelves.
"As expected of you, Iida." Tsuyu, Himiko, and Momo said.
"Why are there so many glasses?!" Uraraka laughs upon looking at the wall.
'Oh no, I have a bunch of glasses stored in my room too. What if they laugh at me?' Melissa's mind was running through many scenarios, all of which ended badly.
"I expect them to be broken during intense training sessions!" Iida replies mechanically before they make their way to Kaminari's room.
"So gaudy!" Mina exclaims as she enters the room.
"Did you just use anything you could find to decorate your room with Kaminari?" Hagakure chimed in.
"Told you it wasn't cool, Denki."
Mina and Hagakure's necks almost snapped as they turned to the source of the voice. Their gossip-seeking mode locked onto the person in question as they smelled that some tea was to be spilled.
"First."
"Name."
"Basis?!"
As the two girls intersected each other's words to form a sentence, Jiro, the girl in question, got progressively redder and redder.
"Nice one, man!" Sero says, patting him on the back.
"Four people are already in a relationship?! God is dead!"
"G-get your heads out of my relationship!" Jiro yells, her earjacks wiggling in a threatening manner.
Bakugou's room was next. The room was a pretty standard boys room. The only difference is the posters of All Might and various explosive weaponry plastered on the walls.
Nobody really wanted to call it "plain" or "standard" in fear of setting off his anger issues this early in the day.
As the group left the explosive boys room, gears started turning in Mineta's small head as he mercilessly attacked the young women with his words.
"We should see the girls' rooms too before we decide. It's only fair!"
"Sounds good!" Mina says, completely unperturbed by his outburst.
"Do I have to be here?" Todoroki questions idly.
"Shush, Todoroki-san, It's good for you to be socializing like this," Momo said as she went into her maternal mode.
"Sakuya would let me leave if she was here," he grumbled under his breath.
"No, she wouldn't. She would probably force you to facetime Rei and tell her how you felt about everyone and their rooms."
"Let's go to Kirishima's room next!" Mina shouts, running up the stairs to where the redhead's room is located.
Kirishima opens the door, and everyone peeks inside. It was a man cave. Katsuki barged past everyone and made his way to the punching bag, and took all of his pent-up anger he couldn't release due to Eri's presence out on it.
"Shitty hair, you have a great room," he said with a feral grin on his face.
"Well, I'm glad someone likes it." The redhead replied, referring to Hagakure, who said she wouldn't like her boyfriend to have a room like this.
'Well, I know many people who wouldn't wanna date a ghost, but you don't hear me saying that out loud.' he thought inwardly.
Shoji's room was next.
Shoji didn't like to have many things. It was distracting and unnecessary to him. If you had somewhere to sleep and work, what else could you need? He found more enjoyment in spending time with others than playing online games. His room was very simplistic.
"So empty," Uraraka said as she peeked through the crowd at the door only to see a futon and a desk in the room.
"I've got what I need," Shoji says back to her.
"Sero's now!" Mina shouts, running towards the lift, desperate not to be the unlucky ones stuck on the stairs.
"Damn… You really are doing everyone, huh?" Sero says, quickly hiding a smile as he knew his Asian-style room would turn some heads.
Sure enough, it did just that.
"Asian!" Mina says excitedly at the new-looking room.
"Next is Todoroki, right?" Tokoyami hummed to himself.
'One of the top dogs in this class!' Uraraka thought to herself.
'Going into the stoic Todoroki's room is so exciting!' Hagakure thought.
'One of my rivals for the number 1 spot!' Katsuki thought to himself.
'Isn't Endeavor a Todoroki? I wonder if they're related.' Kaminari questioned idly in his mind.
The door opened, and all but Todoroki, Eri, and Momo were surprised to see that it had been completely remodeled and was now styled in a traditional Japanese-style room.
"You re-did your whole room?!"
"We have tatami at home, so I can't relax on wooden flooring anymore."
"How did you remodel your room in one day?!" Sero quizzes hysterically.
"I had Power loader-sensei help me and Sakuya altered time in here so It could be done quicker."
The group quickly moved onto the last room, belonging to Sato, as he informed them he had a chiffon cake in the oven that was almost done.
"Do you guys want some?" He asks.
The girls immediately flock over, along with a few of the boys.
"So fluffy!" They all coo, poking their cheeks with their fingers.
After the girls came down from their sugar high, they realized that it was time for their rooms to be shown, much to Mineta's excitement.
The first room on the agenda was Jiro's. It was a music lover's room if the group had ever seen it. Instruments and records were lining the walls, and amps were stacked up in a corner.
Some were thankful that the rooms were soundproofed upon seeing the number of instruments present.
"Can you play all of these?!" Uraraka asks, doing a twirl in the middle of the room as she eyes all of the instruments.
"Yeah, at least the basics," Jiro says meekly, tapping the end of her jacks together.
"Unladylike!" Aoyama declares boldly, to which Kaminari tases him with his hand.
"GRRK!" was the only sound that left Aoyama's mouth as he collapsed on the floor, twitching.
"Next is me!" Hagakure says with a bounce in her step.
Everyone leaves Jiro's room, with Sato dragging Aoyama along, and moves onto Hagakure's.
Mineta immediately ran towards the underwear draw, a lustful expression marring his face.
Momo made a tranq gun and shot him with it, not caring about the dosage as she did so. He was out cold before he could even reach the handle. Eri giggled at his antics, not really understanding what he was trying to do.
Shoji had the sad duty of dragging Mineta's presumed corpse towards Mina's room as she was next.
It was very unique. Pink, purple, and deep red lined the walls and furniture, with absolutely nothing normal or conventional in the room. Everyone wondered where she found all this matching furniture at.
"Wow..." was all the boys managed to get out. It was a back-to-back 'girly room' experience. They began to feel dirty about invading on 'sacred grounds.'
The next room was Uraraka.
Not much to say, literally. Whereas Shoji had decided not to have many things in his room, Uraraka didn't have many things to make that decision in the first place.
Tsuyu's room was next.
It was filled with lush green colors on both the furniture and the walls. There was even a frog carpet in the middle of the room.
In the corner was a humidifier to keep the room moist, as her skin needed moisture more than most.
On the walls were some pictures of her family, which Momo and the girls proceeded to coo over.
All that was left were Eri, Sakuya/Momo's, Himiko's, and Melissas.
Melissa's room was almost identical to Iida's. The only difference was the amount of scientific equipment and signed All Might posters.
Himiko's room was full of crimson reds and blacks, giving it a gothic vampire vibe.
Her Chi-chan was proudly displayed on her bed, which Eri was happy to see as she had one the same size.
She did have some Vlad King figures on her desk, though she did try to hide them out of embarrassment. There were also numerous pictures on her walls, mainly of her, Sakuya, and Momo.
"Next is my room!" Eri proudly declared, erasing any of Momo's worries about her child not wanting anyone to enter.
"Let's see what my favorite niece's room looks like." Mina declared before opening the door.
"Mina, you only have one niece."
"Yes, and she's my favorite. Let me have this Yaomomo!"
Eri's room was just a massive playroom with a bed in the middle of it. Plush toys of varying sizes and animals were scattered across the room, and rainbows were everywhere. It was a bit gaudy, but Eri seemed to love it.
Uraraka did start crying tears of envy when she saw one of the price tags on the plushies were still left on.
"This child has more money than me!" she shouted in frustration.
The other occupants in the room could only look at her in pity and confusion.
"Now it's time for SakuMomo's room!" Mina shouted.
"Wait, they're sharing a room?" Kaminari asked
"Well, duh, they are married," Himiko answered in Mina's stead.
"" HUH?!"" was what the majority of them shouted.
"I thought they were just dating."
"Now I see why Eri calls them both maternal names."
"What a mad banquet of darkness."
"Any~way, let's go," Mina said.
Mina made her way to the door, then instantly turned to Momo, "Can you open it? I don't want to be stabbed."
"Sure," Momo opened the door to reveal a huge surprise to everyone.
"How is your room so big?!" Everyone, except Momo and Eri, shouted.
As people were about to voice any complaints, a knife came flying towards the noise. Thankfully for the crowd, Momo caught it.
"Yeah… Sakuya said she was going for a nap, and all of this noise must have woken her up." Momo reasoned.
'We could have died for that?!'
Momo began explaining the process of how the room is so big as they went on a tour. Katsuki and Todoroki were mentally noting down all the facets of Sakuya's quirk that Momo listed off.
They started in the lounge area, where they found Sakuya. She was huddled up on one of the large leather couches, playing stardew valley on the 85-inch wall-mounted TV, completely ignoring their presence for now.
Uraraka was on the verge of fainting when she saw the size of the TV.
Everyone's collective jaws dropped when they saw the bathroom that was installed. It was luxury at its finest. Even Mina, Tsuyu, and Himiko, who already saw it before, were still in shock.
When it came to the bedroom, the girls instantly ran towards the walk-in wardrobe. It was heaven for them to be surrounded by high-end clothing and jewelry that they would never buy. They wanted to come back and try some of it on at a later date, to which Momo said,
"Sure thing, but please refrain from touching Sakuya's things without her permission."
"Which are Sakuya's?" Hagakure asked.
"The right side, the side you are all currently touching."
They all yanked their hands away in fear of a knife coming towards them.
While Aoyama and Mineta were still collapsed on the floor, the other boys went exploring. They eventually just made their way back to Sakuya and eventually ended up playing Mario kart with her.
---------------------------------
"Alright, everyone. Have you all finished voting for someone that isn't yourselves?" Mina asks the group sitting on Sakuya's couch.
Everyone nodded, apart from Sakuya, who wasn't allowed to vote due to lack of participation.
"Drumroll, please!"
Silence followed.
"I see… Anyway! The winner of the dorm contest is a tie between Sato and Momo!"
"You all really got bribed by his cakes, huh?" Sakuya asked out loud before continuing after the girls could only blush in embarrassment, "I can't blame you. His family are all great bakers. I'm even a regular at their shop."
And with that, the student's dorm room contest came to a close, and everyone went off to get changed into their uniforms for the day's classes.
