Earthquake?

Aza's cheeks puffed up like a hamster as she took a large bite of the cake in one go.

"Can't we eat cake without any reason?"

"Are you upset that I ordered it without asking you all?"

"I just wanted to make you all smile. But I think I shouldn't have done it now."

After munching the piece of cake, Aza fired back questions at Diana, who thought it was weird for her to suddenly order a chocolate cake.

Her questions along with that voice of hers made them freeze.

'Not again…..'

They murmured inwardly.

Diana was caught off-guard. She didn't know why she felt as if she did a grave crime. She couldn't wrap her mind around the unanticipated turn of events.

"Aza!!!!..."

They yelled simultaneously. If not for the soundproof walls of the penthouse. The whole city might have been traumatized.

Their high pitched voices together were more scary than a nightmare. It can make the ground shake. An artificial earthquake produced by four girls with their shrilled high pitched voice, something they can do with their extraordinary skills.

"Hey…. You guys want me to turn deaf? I feel like I'll lose my hearing senses at this rate all because of you guys.

You know I can still survive it but what about the others? Just imagine if the sweeper was passing by the corridor, he must have pissed in his pants by your scary voices. I hope the sweeper can rest in peace."

Aza said everything in one single breath.

She huffed and puffed while others gazed at her cynically.

"Now, inhale."

"Take a deep breath."

"Hold it for 7 seconds."

"Exhale. Relax. Repeat it."

They gave her meditation tips since she was trying to breathe after rapping faster than the MC Twista himself.

Serene handed her a glass of water after 2 mins. Aza finished it.

She put the empty glass back and sheepishly smiled at others. They didn't react to her smiles.

Diana stood up, "Are you guys done? I am going to sleep now. We can continue the game later tomorrow."

Ines and Serene followed her. They kept their dishes in the dishwasher but didn't turn on the machine.

As Livia was still eating and Aza was left too. Those three headed back to their rooms.

Livia thanked her, "Thanks, Aza. The cake was really yummy. Tell me the name, I'll order next time."

She gave Aza a headpat before going upstairs to her room.

'Oops. I think I overdid it. Even Livia, the chatterbox of our group left without saying much. She is the one who loves the chocolate cake the most among us but it seems like today, I made her angry too.

Now they all are angry with me. I will have to cook their favourite dishes for breakfast tomorrow.'

'Ugh…. Then I have to wake up early.'

She bawled out her tears inside her mind.

Aza was a sleep lover. She didn't like getting up early much.

The bed and the pillows were her love partners. She would always say that sleeping is a form of art which currently no one knows.

She consoled herself. Getting up she went into the kitchen and put the dishes in the machine. She turned on the timer before going to her room.

She had a cold bath to relieve all the heat. The weather during the current time was really unmanageable.

She dried her hair. "This heat would kill me. My only saviour is my aircon." She hung the towel on the hanger back.

"Where is the remote hiding now?" She asked none at the moment other than her own self.

She searched every corner of her room. From her bed underneath to her bathroom cabinet.

She ruffled her almost dried hair, "Ugh!!! Where did I keep it last time?"

She surveyed her eyes again.

This time her eyes landed on a small black object. It was lying in the night table's cabinet when it should be on the night table not inside the cabinet.

"....."

She kept looking at it as if it was its own mistake. It was the remote itself chosen to lay down there

She hit her head lightly, "Why am I so stupid? This was there all along yet my eyes didn't catch the sight of it. Is my body lacking Vitamin A ??"

She moved her hands to it and switched on the AC with the remote and set it on 10°C.

"Aza, forget it all now. You have to wake up at 4 am. So sleep now or otherwise you won't get time to make breakfast."

She chided herself. Turning off the night lamps she made herself comfortable under the blanket before wandering off to her Wonderland.

The sun and its rays were so strict that not a single cloud could be seen in the sky.

These months, June - July, are more scarily horrible than watching Conjuring all series alone in the night. One can watch them without any trouble but living in this harsh weather without AC was a clear invitation to death.
