And Grace Was Gone

While the girls chatted among themselves, the guys finished their introduction. Then Tasha instructed them to go and sit beside the five new girls.

The boys walked with poise towards the girls.

The girls being immersed in their talk didn't take notice of them except Athena. She did miss their names but she certainly heard Tasha. Hence, she pretended to write in her notebook while all her senses concentrated on the boys coming to them.

They sat down beside them without asking, however, one of them stood with a straight back next to Athena's seat. He had his hands tucked inside his jeans pockets. The shades covered his eyes yet his intense gaze at Athena didn't lessen down.

Athena felt his brooding stares, it caused her to shiver slightly. An electric current rush into her veins. Her cheeks and neck warmed up. Their colour changed to red.

'Why is he staring at me like that? Am I a food item? I can sense curiosity and amusement in his eyes but there is no lust then what exactly he wants from me? If not my body, what does he want?'

These doubts roamed inside her mind. She couldn't comprehend. The way she discerned his gaze, he puzzled her more.

'Damn it. This guy is surely making me crazy.'

She wondered as she wanted to grab her hair in frustration.

The guy didn't drift his eyes, rather he increased the intensity of his stares.

After what felt like an eternity, Athena moved aside and took the bag off from the seat and put it down.

The guy smirked as he made himself comfortable. No one talked until the recess bell rang. The students wished to surround the new boys yet they couldn't since their professor like others didn't prefer to eat with the rest of the professors.

The boys turned to their partners.

"I am Aiden Vermont. Nice to meet you."

Ivy's partner forwarded his hand for a handshake.

Iris looked at the guy sitting next to her, "You are?..."

"My name is Lucas Vermont, and may I know the name of the beautiful girl like you?"

"Wait? Are you five blood brothers?"

Lucas laughed as he witnessed the astonishment in Iris's eyes, "Yess, we are."

"Ohh...and I am Iris."

She did the handshake with Lucas.

"Hey, my name is Sylius. What's yours?"

Sylius poked Grace's arm. She ignored him yet Sylius didn't look like he would stop at anything.

Grace got annoyed and banged her pen on the table. Sylius barely looked at the pen and pitied it for having bad luck.

"Will you stop? Let me do my work. You have free time to waste while I have to study, get good grades so that I can have a stable work life."

She told Sylius with an angry voice. Her rude remark didn't faze Sylius. His grinning face, fascinating eyes and the slight uplift curve of lips. It made Grace more furious than she already was. She felt she would blow off like a time ticking bomb if she stared at him for any longer.

She looked away from him and began to stuff her books and writing essentials back into her bag. Just when she put her hands on her notebook, she noticed another hand over it.

She gritted her teeth. She was in the mood of bickering.

"Leave my notebook."

"Nope, not until you give me your name."

"Leave."

"No."

"Look, I think you know we are not in kindergarten already. So end whatever you are planning to do and let me take my book."

"I am aware that we are not kids then why are you acting like one? I am just asking about your name yet you are being all arrogant."

"I am not interested in telling you my name."

"Why?"

"What why? Can't you understand simply? Do I need to spell it out for you?"

"Why are you behaving as if we have met before and I had done something evil to you and eventually we became enemies. I haven't met you before I am sure."

"Are you done with your gibberish? Even if you are not, keep your mouth shut and let go of my book. Don't create any drama here."

"Awww sweetie, if you act like this then I might fall for you." Sylius winked and flew a flying kiss to Grace.

"Tch...A cheap flirting line. See I am telling you for the last time, let go of my book."

Sylius leaned closer to Grace, "If I don't then? What are you gonna do?"

He stared deeply into her eyes behind glasses.

They kept gazing at each other. Sylius's hands moved on their own as he took Grace's glasses off her eyes.

"Now, I can look in those mesmerising eyes without any obstruction." He grinned like a small boy who had just gotten his favourite treat.

Grace didn't react for a while. She stayed like a statue before she felt his hands tucking a random hair strand behind her ears. She inwardly flinched when his cold hands touched her ears. The touch was fleeting however the feeling got engraved in her.

Unknowingly, Grace closes her eyes, as Sylius comes closer to her.

"Babygirl, I hope you will remember this moment."

He whispered in her ears in an almost inaudible voice.

Grace trembled.

'Why am I getting excited?' She chided at herself.

She moved back.

She peeped at his beaming and smiling face. Her heart skipped a beat. She knew this feeling too well, however, she didn't want to undergo it again.

'Babygirl, You can act all like a stranger but those flickering eyes will always give away your pretence.' He shook his head internally at her innocence.

"Since you want to keep holding onto the book, I might as well give it to you." She pulled off her hands and took her pens. She dropped them into her bag. Before she zipped it, she saw her on the desk, this time it was alone. She paused her hands.

"Naaa, you take your book. I am not into books but the owner of this book seems quite interesting." Sylius muttered as he watched her.

She picked up her book with lightning speed and zipped her bag.

"Girls, let's get going. I am feeling quite sick. The air inside the room had some sickening germs mixed within it. I can't stand it anymore. I will leave first and wait outside, come when you are done packing up your stuff. I will only wait for five minutes."

And Grace was gone.
