Chapter 5: Blake Tyler

The rest of the day passed just like Eric had decided it to. He cultivated in peace for almost the entire day except for when he ate lunch. Compared to when he initially sensed Qi, he felt way more rejuvenated and his stamina had also increased.

Eric also noticed that the amount of Qi in his Dantian had increased a little bit. When he focused on his Dantian, he felt that it had more Qi than in the morning when he started cultivating. Satisfied by his improvement, Eric decided to stop for the day.

Rest was equally as important as practice and if he overworked himself, it would do him more harm than help. It was about 4 in the afternoon at the time; the sun had started to set and the cool breeze of the evening had arrived.

Eric looked out of the window and smiled, 'This is the perfect time for a nap!'

Eric was suddenly awoken from his sleep by a strong presence he felt. This had never happened before and Eric was a bit cautious. He felt no killing intent or anything negative from it, but he could feel someone powerful.

As he stood up from his bed, the door to his room smashed open and a man burst out in laughter.

"HAHAHAHA, I KNEW IT! MY SON IS A GENIUS!"

The man looked at Eric in the eyes and his expression changed to one of pride.

He walked up to Eric and ruffled his hair, "You really sensed Qi in two minutes and absorbed it in an hour, huh? Not even I was able to do that and people called me a genius back when I started cultivating.

My son who didn't care about cultivation one day decides to try it out and low and behold, his talent was unheard of in the entire history of the kingdom.

I am honestly very proud of you, well done, Eric."

His father could be a little loud and aggressive at times, but he really cared about Eric.

Thinking about how his parents treated him, Eric felt that in this life his luck in the parents department was blessed.

Back on Earth, his parents barely cared for him and as a child almost never showed him any sort of affection; neither did they support him much as an adult. They mostly neglected him and were overall bad parents.

Naturally, once he was an adult, Eric returned them the favor tenfold and ignored them. In short, he had a pretty bad relationship with his 'real' parents.

Comparing them to Blake and Jane, he felt truly grateful to them and decided to cherish all the memories and moments he had with them; and keep them close to his heart instead of his previous parents, thinking about whom left him with a bitter taste in his mouth.

Trying not to get too distracted and lost in the midst of his own thoughts, Eric decided to observe his father. This was the first time he had met a strong cultivator in person, after all.

Blake Tyler was a tall and handsome man. He had brown hair just like Eric's and had light brown eyes than shined brightly. He had a neatly kept short beard and had a rather muscular build, which was a trait most people who cultivated the body shared in common.

The Scam System once again created a profile window for Eric's dad, but this time something was different.

Body: ???

Mind: Not a cultivator]

Eric assumed that there was a limit past which he could not see people's cultivation levels with his current strength.

He was still curious though and wanted to know his dad's level of cultivation, so he asked him directly instead.

"Dad, what's you cultivation level? You're supposed to be really strong, right?" he intently asked.

"Oh, you want to know my cultivation level?" Blake smirked as he bragged about his strength, "I'm at the 3rd Layer of the Spirit Master Realm of the soul and the 10th Layer of the Bone Forging Realm of the body; all of that before 40. I'm pretty much a genius now, aren't I?"

As soon as his father finished speaking, Eric heard a notification from the system and the information updated.

Eric brought up his body's memories in his head and his face changed expressions. He knew his father was strong but he didn't know exactly how strong till now.

He outclassed the City Lord of Greenwell City: the city where Eric lived, by a whole major realm, that too not an ordinary realm, but a bottleneck realm.

Seeing his son's surprised and excited face, Blake ruffled his hair once more and started speaking to him.

"I heard from your mother that you decided to start cultivating and you were very diligent. With the talent you have you will definitely reach my level and even surpass it; there's no need for you to be so surprised, my strength isn't really that great, son."

His expression changed to a serious one as he continued to talk to his son.

"However, now that you have decided to walk the path of a cultivator, I will give my all to raise you as a strong young man. Now, go and do as you please. A couple days later, once you reach the Spirit Apprentice Realm, I will bring you something."

Blake turned around and walked out of Eric's room and Jane also followed suit after hugging her son one more time.

They both left the room and Eric was alone once again. The door slowly closed and once it was fully shut, he breathed a sigh of relief.

'Surprisingly, they didn't ask about how I acquired the cultivation method,' he said, looking at the scroll hidden inside a group of other scrolls and books in his bookshelf.

While thinking about what his parents said and how they behaved earlier, an awkward smile appeared on Eric's face. The way they treated him so well and were so proud of him even though they didn't know that he wasn't actually their son made him feel a little bad for them.

He was grateful for how they cared for him but it was also very awkward to just go back to being a kid when you are a 24 year old adult man.

Both of those reasons were already enough for him to have a bittersweet smile on his face, but the fact that he did not know what this world was and how real it was made his heart slightly ache.

He started thinking about how he had got here , what exactly was this place and who the unknown man was, but he knew that thinking about it wouldn't solve anything.

He even asked the Scam System this question just for safe measure; and as expected, there was no result.

[The user's level is too low and strength is too weak to know the answer to that question.]

'Thinking about why I am here and how weird this situation is won't do me any good. Since the System won't give me any answers because I am too low leveled, I will just gradually increase my level, along with my strength.'

Steeling his mind, Eric once again sat down on his bed cross legged and started to cultivate. At this moment, that was the only thing he could do in order to get stronger.
