Chapter 28: Roaring Dragon Mercenary Group Headquarters

Later that day, when Blake Tyler got home, Eric quickly approached him and started talking.

"Good evening, dad. You asked me to come and talk to you when I reach the First Layer of the Flesh Refining Realm. I am ready now, what did you want to tell me?" he asked his father with curiosity in his mind.

Blake smiled and replied calmly, "Very well. Tomorrow morning, I will take you to the headquarters of the Roaring Dragon Mercenary Group. You will be able to train your body in a very efficient manner there."

Seeing the confused expression on Eric's face, Blake clarified himself to his son.

"Don't worry, it will be fine. You won't get seriously hurt or anything; there will be just a few scratches at most. However, you will benefit a lot from what I have planned for you."

Eric still didn't know what exactly his father had planned for him, but he trusted Blake's judgement and didn't question it.

'I will think about what it is when I get to it, now is not the time to bother myself thinking about unnecessary things. Instead, I should just wait till tomorrow morning to worry about this and in the meantime cultivate on my own.'

Eric's way of thinking revolved around cultivation; he would always try and make time for cultivating his soul, body or mind instead of lazing around like what he used to do in his previous life.

He knew how much it would negatively impact him if he decided to slack off instead of training, especially in such a world where power meant everything. This was the only game which he was more serious about that his real life on Earth.

During the night, Eric used up all the pills and cultivated his mind to the middle of the second layer and was very pleased with the progress he made.

His soul cultivation was almost at the late stage of the second layer so he didn't bother using the Qi Gathering Herbs while cultivating his soul.

His body was only in the early stage of the first layer and even though he was using the herbs while cultivating his body, it would still take quite a while for him to catch up to his power level in the other two paths of cultivation.

Since he would be going to his father's workplace; the Roaring Dragon Mercenary Group's headquarters, Eric decided to take a little bit of rest beforehand. He lay down on his bed, closed both of his eyes and slowly drifted off into a calm and peaceful sleep.

The next morning, Eric ate his breakfast and got ready at a way earlier time than usual. Normally, at this time, he would be running around the outskirts of the forest or exercising in his room.

Today, however, Eric was excited for what lay in store for him as he hurriedly followed his father to the main gates of his house.

They got in a carriage and after a while of waiting, they reached their destination.

Eric's house was situated in the inner part of Greenwell city, while the Roaring Dragon Mercenary Group's headquarters were more towards the outer side.

Eric grazed at the headquarters in front of him and analyzed what he saw.

There was a large iron gate and walls surrounding the actual base, with guards situated on each side of the gate. The main building was situated on an elevated platform with stairs leading up to it and was extremely large in size, along with having a luxurious yet not too flashy appearance.

Along with the main building, there were a bunch of training grounds and other practice arenas encased in the walls on either side of the main headquarters of the mercenary group's base. All in all, the Roaring Dragon Mercenaries had a pretty formidable looking base and Eric was rather surprised by what he saw.

Blake noticed Eric's astonishment and walked forwards, catching his attention, to which he followed suit immediately.

The guards saw Blake approach them and bowed formally to greet him, as well as Eric, before opening the gates for them. Their boss's son was also their boss.

Seeing the respect he was receiving from people of a higher cultivation level than him, Eric couldn't help but feel a little proud of his 'young master' status, but he didn't show it on his face and simply followed his father.

Once inside, Eric could see his surroundings more clearly. In the training grounds which he saw from outside, he could now see youths about 18 to 20 years of age having mock battles and practicing their techniques. They were quite older than Eric, but still pretty young.

It took Eric and his father about a minute of calmly walking until they reached the stairs leading up to the building. Up until then, except for some of the youths respectfully greeting Blake upon noticing him, nothing much had happened.

Blake pushed open the thick, wooden door of the building nonchalantly and entered it, revealing its interior to Eric.

There were two floors in this building. The place where Eric currently stood at was the first floor, which had a large board with notes stuck to it which people were crowding around right in the center. This was the mission board, where the members of the Mercenary Group took up their missions.

Behind the mission board, there was a front desk like area in the center and stairs leading up to the second floor from both the sides.

The rest of the first floor didn't have anything special; it had all sorts of normal facilities such as a storage room with food and other essential items, a medical assistance room, a set of bathrooms, some temporary lodging facilities, a bar and dining area and other stuff which could be found in other places and didn't have anything to do with this place being a mercenary group's headquarters.

It was still impressive, though. The sheer amount of facilities and size of the headquarters was way more than what Eric had initially expected.

"This isn't really that impressive. The floor above this is way better. Let's go to the upper floor, shall we now?" Blake smiled and spoke to his son, who looked relatively surprised.

Eric did not expect the Roaring Dragon Mercenary Group to be this large and have so many facilities, that too only in its first floor. Thinking of what kind of stuff would be on the second floor, he followed his father with enthusiasm and excitement.
