AT NIGHT
BAI JU'S ROOM
Bai Ju was sitting in front of a mirror and Shufen was helping her comb her hair. Shufen noticed that Bai Ju was looking dull, so she decided to start a conversation.
Shufen:(smiles) Princess, why do you look dull? Do you want your husband to marry an ugly wife? (nudges Bai Ju) Princess, do you know that you look like a goddess when you smile?
Bai Ju: Don't you think that brother's acting suspicious?
Shufen: Huh?
Bai Ju: When I told him what happened at the tea house, his expression was like he didn't know I could fire an arrow. What he always tell me is I'll discover many things about myself and now he's telling me that me having a memory loss was to give me a new life and I should not try to dig into the past.
Shufen:(sighs) His majesty is right. Something happened while you were young, something you shouldn't remember. You should live a new life, princess. It's better than digging into the past. (sho continues to comb Bai Ju's hair)
Bai Ju:(soliloquies) What if the past haunts me?

NORTHERN WEI
PRINCE WU LAN'S RESIDENCE
The sixth prince of the king of Northern Wei, Cheng Wu lan was there playing guqin. The breeze swayed his hair as he tenderly stroke the strings. The eighth and last prince, Cheng Wu Lin came to him and suddenly held his hand. Wu lan looked at him.
Wu lan: What is it?
Wu Lin: Have you forgotten that you'll soon be getting married to the princess of Western Rong. Instead of sitting here playing guqin, you should go and learn how to become a good husband from the crowned.
Wu lan: I never told you I wanted to get married.
Wu Lin: It's already known, there's no way you can back out. Looks like you'll have to forget about miss fairy.
Wu lan: Just go away.
Wu Lin: Ooh! I feel so sad for you , brother.
Wu lan: Father told me some days ago why he wanted me to marry the princess. He is trying to use my innocence and gentility for his own motives. You wouldn't believe why he wanted us married.
Wu lin: Please, tell me why...
