Helen looked to Noah for an explanation for the words which just came out of Eli's mouth but the man looked just as taken back as she was, if not more. At least Eli asking her out to dinner wasn't just shocking to her. What was this man Eli thinking? Did he think he could seduce her into selling the land to him? There was more land around the area being sold, why not just buy those? He might be lying and there just might be gold here. Maybe even diamonds.
"I would rather die than go out to dinner with you," Helen shuddered at the thought of being out with Eli romantically. She would rather spend the day listening to Isabelle talk about her celeb crushes than suffer through a date with him. She wasn't that curious to know why he wanted the land anymore. It belonged to her at the end of the day.
"Okay. Noah, get the shovel from my car," Eli ordered with a faint smile on his face. He enjoyed himself while everyone else around was in shock. What? Couldn't he make a joke?
Awkwardly taking a step closer to Eli to see if he was serious, Noah asked. "Do you really want me to go get the shovel? There are too many witnesses here for you to kill someone." There was a shovel in the car because of personal matters.
"I was joking, Noah. You know my humor," Eli said through gritted teeth patting the back of his friend. Why did they always take things so seriously? "I love to joke around, remember," He stated just so everyone who was listening could relax.
Noah cried on the inside yet again, 'As long as I've known you Eli I still can't figure when you're joking or serious. When you tell a joke it's supposed to be funny, not life-threatening.' He needed a long vacation away from Eli. "Haha, I got the joke, sir. I'm sure everyone knew it was a joke," Noah laughed trying to lighten the mood in the room. He was the only person laughing so stopped.
Helen was lost for words due to the fact that he actually had a shovel in his car. What did he use it for that he would carry it around in his car? Judging from the weird reaction from Noah, his assistant thought he was serious.
"I hope you consider coming to dinner with me. I'll admit the reason why I wanted the land was simply because I wanted it. There's nothing special about it at all. I was hoping your curiosity would accept the dinner but that failed right out the gate. I would love to have dinner with you," Eli said sincerely. He wanted to spend more time with the woman who cursed like a pirate.
"Was this the first time you asked someone out? You seem bad at it," Helen responded. He seemed like the type to be asked out rather than asking out someone. "I would've expected you to be a master seducer. Why don't I get that privilege? Entice me, Eli King."
"I do know my way around tempting women but there's a limit when the woman hates my guts. It'll take a slower pace to win you over rather than rushing into it. I would enjoy the chase if you run from my advances,"
'He sure is a charmer,' She admitted to herself feeling her body react to his words. Helen took two graceful steps close to Eli. Once she stood close enough, she got up on her tippy toes, reached up for his ear, and said, "Enjoy the chase. Seduce me as good as you can," She chuckled, easing away from him slowly. Although she couldn't stand his mouth she was still up for a little fun.
To have Eli King attempting to seduce her was pure entertainment. Helen hoped he knew the tricks he used on other women wouldn't work on her. Let's see how many tricks he could pull out his womanizer hat.
Before she could ease away any further, Eli pulled her by her waist back against his body. "It's a deal."
He couldn't help but inhale the heavenly scent of her blood. His fangs were almost trembling to come out and take a bite but he couldn't. Not with this one. For the second time in his life, there was a woman he wanted more than anything. He met the first woman at the early ages of his life but she had passed away because she was human. Eli had never told anyone about her since vampires never mixed at all with humans in the olden days. In this present day, it was okay to be involved with humans as long as it wasn't serious.
If you plan to marry a human it would mean exposing them to what you were. But vampires all believe they should never reproduce with any other species. Vampires believed they were above all other creatures. It was in their blood to be proud.
They also loved the attention and being worshipped. It was the sole reason why high society was primarily vampires. From actors and businessmen to government leaders, they situated themselves over decades to be in power positions above others, especially humans.
However, Eli King was not one to follow those rules as many had learned over the years. If he wanted to bring Helen into his circle, who would dare try to stop him? He'd rip them into pieces if they ever dreamt of harming something or someone he was fond of. There was a punishment for exposing yourself to humans but for how much longer could the secrets of the world remain hidden?
Helen coughed realizing how unprofessional she might've appeared in front of her employees by flirting with someone she claimed to dislike out in the open. He got the best of her this one time. "It's still a no to the dinner because I don't like the way you asked me. I'm also busy with the new opening for this restaurant and the land business is done. Could you please leave for real this time?"
"Sure but before I leave, do you mind if I get a drink of water? I'm parched," Eli started clearing his throat. "Just one cup would be good."
Helen stared blankly at his weak attempt to stay even longer. As long as he would leave afterward she could care less. There goes her small, small infatuation with him. She locked the door and threw away the key. "Cody please get him a glass of hot water," She told her waiter then walked off to look for her manager. She was already behind on too many things to chit-chat any longer.
Cody looked appalled having to serve the bloodsucker. It was insulting for a werewolf to serve a vampire.
"Be a good dog and fetch my water," Eli teased the werewolf who hadn't stopped glaring at him along with his twin brother. A two-on-one fight would still be a losing battle for them since Eli had always been a trained fighter. His eyes flitted between black and red to show the wolves a peek at his hidden self.
"Get the water and make it as hot as possible," Jacob spoke slowly to his brother. It wouldn't hurt the semi-immortal bastard but it was what Helen asked for.
The man said he would leave after the drink, which meant there was no reason for his brother to act out right now. Jacob also wanted to tear apart the vampire but like Cody had told him it would only throw Helen into the mix. "When you're done with his water, go outside and let go of your anger. If you continue to be angry you might transform."
"Cody! The water?" Helen questioned seeing him just standing beside his brother talking but not getting the water she told him to give to Eli. "Is there a problem?"
"No ma'am. I'll get the water right away," Cody said, cooling down. He left for the kitchen alongside his brother.
Helen reverted back to Marc Green, the manager of her restaurant, who she found. He was five foot four with a lean body, brown short hair, and brown eyes. "How is the promotion going for the opening? The ones from the poster and tv ads?"
"The responses are good but we need to gain more reactions from social media. It's one of the best ways to promote your business these days. You said it yourself, the valentine's cafe you went to was horrible but people still went because a celeb posted it. We need some of that. Unlike that cafe, we'll keep them coming for the food in the end. I've been posting pictures of the restaurant alongside the twins and got a pretty good amount of followers," Marc explained his new marketing plan. "We have to follow some of these business trends to keep up."
"So you're trying to attract the sheep of social media. Seems okay since everyone has to eat," Helen agreed to go along with it. All she had to do now was find the perfect person to advertise the restaurant on social media. Hearing commotion she looked around to find Cody arguing with Eli. Looking at the model-looking man who intimidated others an idea popped up in her head. She looked back smiling at Marc. "Let's gather some sheep."
