A very puzzled Noah tiptoed to see what was inside the box. An expensive watch or maybe a chain? He was bewildered when he saw the dirt and thought his eyes were playing tricks yet again. "Is that dirt?" Questioned Noah, double-checking his eyesight.
"Yes, it is a gift from Helen. A piece of her land," Eli said, setting the dirt aside. It was good she had a sense of humor and didn't take his joke to heart. Best believe he had other gifts set to pamper her which weren't comical. He then went back to finish up his workload for the day.
"Are you two crazy?" Noah asked out loud though it was meant to just be a thought. Who takes pleasure receiving meat and worst of all dirt? How was this in any shape or form normal?
Eli glanced at Noah for a brief moment hearing the question. He stared at Noah for a few seconds before returning his focus back to his work.
Noah already knew what Eli was mentally telling him.
"Shut the hell up."
Noah knew Eli like the back of his very own hand. At least he believed he did up to today. He would've never expected Eli to be almost excited to receive a box of dirt or to even consider dating a human.
As much as Noah believed in fated meetings he was starting to be concerned this might've been a mistake. Eli was a vampire who came from a line of royalty in the olden days and Helen was a human. It wasn't like she came from a wealthy background either to give her some boost. From a vampire's point of view, she was not worthy to be in their presence. If Eli were to seriously bring her into their circle she would be tossed around and threatened like she's never experienced.
Her bold personality could make a complete one-eighty spin and she could become seriously terrified. Noah liked the woman as she rivaled Eli's personality but did he think that was enough to bring her into their world, no. He didn't want her to experience what many other humans had to suffer, both male and female.
This wasn't just for vampires but all other creatures. It was hard to successfully live with the love of your life outside your own kind. But he couldn't put it past Eli's capabilities to pull it off. It was true as they said, whatever Eli King wanted he always took. His arrogance came from his father having deep ties to royalty. It was also the reason every woman wanted to be engaged to Eli.
Although his family had decided to step away from the positions of royalty when vampires walked among humans, the king family was still a part of all decisions when it came to the vampire community. They were still viewed as royalty in the eyes of many and this was what worried Noah.
"Eli, will you really bring her into our world one day?" He finally asked what had been on his mind. Noah wanted Eli to be happy but in his lifetime he got attached to humans and could no longer take seeing them suffer all because they were weaker. Noah did not want Helen to suffer the same fate.
"I don't know what the future holds," Eli replied, keeping his head down. He no longer cared to worry about the future. It was best to let things play out. When the moment comes for him to make the decision of where he and Helen stood, then he would start to plan things out.
"But still, what if you actually come to love her. Would you really bring her into the circle? No one would approve of her, not even your mother."
"Isn't it hypocritical we have affairs with humans and on rare occasions other creatures but frown when the relationship becomes serious? If it was so disproved why folic with them? I'm tired of hearing about the stupid rules or traits we have to stick to," Eli said leaning back against his chair. He ran his fingers through his jet black hair to keep some loose strands from lingering on his face.
"I don't know if your family has heard the rumors yet but it's being passed around some clans are planning to expose themselves to the world. They aren't afraid of any punishment. They claimed to be doing it for the future generation of our kind. This isn't going to sit well with other creatures who don't approve of showing themselves to the world but this could work out for you and Helen."
"Hmm…" Eli hummed at the idea of a clan exposing themselves. This was interesting. Rather or not his kind lived in the shadows did not bother him but he would find it truly annoying to have to deal with the humans freaking out and panicking. It was always quite the headache.
Women ridiculously screaming and men trying to play the role of heroes only to die seconds later. He massaged his temple already feeling annoyed but as Noah said it could work out in his favor in regards to his relationship with Helen, that is if they ended up having one.
The world was becoming even more dangerous day by day. Harlow city was a prime example of this with its recent kidnappings.
"Have you found out if the kidnappings had something to do with vampires?" Eli asked. He instructed Noah to do some digging and to stay updated with the whole situation. The person behind the kidnappings was not a human but a supernatural creature.
If it were to be a vampire doing this, his family would need to get involved in the matter. Not to stop it as they didn't care what happened to humans but to just know why they were doing it and if it would put other vampires in harm's way.
"I don't have any leads on it yet and neither does anyone else who is looking into the matter. There's not even a video or picture of the person on camera with the victims. Whoever is doing this is smart and might have some strong connections," Noah replied. "Is it possible to be a wolf or a wendigo? The wolves used to kidnap a lot of humans for their so-called soul mates and the wendigo did it for food."
"There's also the possibility of it being a goblin or a demon. They both enjoyed doing these kinds of things for fun."
"At this moment, it could be anyone around us. Stay alert," Warned Eli.
Something bad was cooking up in Harlow city. He didn't have any answers to what it could be but he knew the kidnappings might turn out to be the least of their worries.
