Anna predicted that Alan didn't tell the whole truth to his sons. In other circumstances, she wouldn't either, but she couldn't bear seeing that hate gaze in Tarou's eyes. He deserves to know and she deserves to rest in peace after what she has been through.
- What you said is not wrong, but it's just half of the truth. Didn't you wonder why I took such a decision?
- You just wanted to give up on your power, and run away to the human world. I know that you couldn't adapt to the land and the monsters' law, but couldn't you just endure it for us?
- How do I give up on something that wasn't mine in the first place? I'm not a monster, I was born a normal human.
Aaron became more curious to know how did his human mother possess power.
- How did you get that power?
Anna sighed:
- I met your father while he was on his sacred mission. We loved each other insanely to the point that he couldn't leave me and go back to the land. He searched for a way to make me go back with him and be accepted by the monsters' community. After a lot of research, he discovered " The Black Stone"
- What is it?
- It is a magical stone that can give power. Alan used it on me, and it did work. I possessed great power and succeeded to enter the land. We got married and lived happily, but it didn't last long. Your father didn't tell me the most important thing about that stone.
Anna stopped for a moment to wipe her tears, then she continued:
- The stone is cursed. It wasn't supposed to be found or used.
- And why is that?
- According to the old stories, it has a dark power that no one can control. And that power is the biggest threat to the land of the monsters. Alan didn't care about it. He was blind by love and so desperate to take me with him to the land.
- Why the stone is a threat? What that power can do exactly?
- An old prophecy said that the one who will possess the dark stone's power, and be able to control it, will destroy the land of the monsters.
- So, you possessed a forbidden power!
- What your father did was kind of selfish. He put our lives in danger. At some point, I realized that he didn't love me the way I'm, but tried to make me the way he wanted at any cost. I was very angry and frustrated. How can he do such a thing to me?
Tarou kept silent, but he finally decided to ask:
- Because of that you left?
- No, I didn't leave because of that. I tried to endure it for your sake.
- Then why did you leave?
Anna took a sip of water before continuing her story:
- After giving birth to you, something seemed wrong. Rage and anger started to increase inside me. I didn't understand at the first, so I tried to manage it. But it got worse after I gave birth to Aaron. I couldn't talk to anyone because we will be killed if they found out. Your father didn't do anything to help me. One night an accident happened, I almost killed Aaron. I still remember that awful night and how my hands were stained with my baby's blood.
Anna stopped talking then she reached her hand to Aaron's face and flipped his hair gently:
- That scar on your forehead, is my fault. I'm sorry. I was out of control. So I decided to give up on everything. I didn't have any choice. All I wanted was to watch you growing up, but that won't happen if I stay like that. Your father didn't understand my torture. The dark was consuming me.
Tarou remembered that incident, he witnessed how his father scolded her for not being a good mother...
- How did you get rid of that dark power?
Asked Aaron, but Tarou answered instead.
- She went to the temple. She used the holy heart. And that's how she got busted by the monsters.
