One week later
Someone jumped on Ha-neul, with a foul smile," I saw you."
Ha-neul pushes Woo-young who always tries to get on his nerves off his back, "What now?"
"Yah, don't pretend. Last Wednesday, you were having a date with a L.A.D.Y."
Woo-bin and Min-hyuk laughed in wonder. There's no secret between the Trois and they never heard Ha-neul having a girlfriend, "Did you not hurt your leg but your head from last week practice?"
Ha-neul tightens his Taekwondo belt and stops in front of Woo-young, "What are you, a stalker?" and walks to the elongated blue mat.
His friends glanced at one another and back at Ha-neul. Heol! What's this? He didn't deny it. They chase after him for the tea, "Who is she? Do we know her?"
He glances at them and lets out a sigh, "You fools. I wasn't on a date. She is my sis's friend."
What a letdown. "After the club is finished, Let's hit the bookstore. The newest manga is out."
"Get your body moving already!!" Their club manager scolded them, "Don't think I don't see you!"
---After school-- bookstore---
Woo-bin's face has gone pale with his features like the famous painting 'The Scream', "It's gone!!"
"Chill out. Ask one of the workers to check if there's still more." Min-hyuk stated, looking to their right and left, "...Where are they when you need them?"
"Let's split up. Text if you find someone," Ha-neul suggested. The two nodded and spread out.
Just then Min-hyuk spotted one, "Hello, I am looking for the news manga that was recent today-."
---
The guys found Min-hyuk just as she was about to announce, "It's out of stock. Come back Wednesday or Thursday."
As Woo-bin was moping to the exit, the object the cashier was holding grabbed his attention.
"Do you need a bag?"
The lady shakes her head, "No thank you." He howled around like a monkey as he tugs on Min-hyuk and Ha-neul.
"Thank you for purchasing."
Dam-bi turned around to see what was the commotion and to her surprise, there was a wild monkey with Ha-neul and an unknown.
Not knowing how she got there, Dam-bi is now eating a hamburger with Ha-neul and his friends at McDonald's.
"Thank you for allowing me to read." Woo-bin couldn't be more thankful.
She eyed Woo-bin as she handed it over, "If a drop of ketchup touches that book. You're gonna pay triple the amount."
"I didn't know you read these kinds of genres," Ha-neul says as an ice breaker for them to talk about.
"There are corpses, blood, and foolish humans. What's not to like?" biting into her hamburger. The corner of her mouth turns downwards and her eyes shut in disgust but she was about to forces herself to swallow. She opens the bread and found the most hideous thing inside, "..pickles."
Ha-neul who was seated next to her muttered, "Such a kid."
She gave him a side look and brought her fist up, "Want a smack in the head again? I'm three years old than you."
He held her arm that has the hamburger and started acting cocky and shrugs, "Are you calling yourself old? It's just numbered anyway," Taking the pickles out for her. As he finishes, he flashes a smug smile. She gritted her teeth in anger and stated, "you eat them then." He himself isn't fond of pickles."Hah, you think I can't eat them. I ain't scared," Looking at his friends.
"Don't buy yourself time, boy." She taps the table using her index finger, demanding him to hurry.
He stacks the remaining pickles and eats them, "There!" quicking picking up nuggets afterward.
She rolled her eyes unamazed.
Abruptly Woo-bin screeched, "O-oh he didn't!!" She looks at Woo-bin, "interesting?" He motions his head in bewilderment, "Oof!"
Someone bumps into Ha-neul's soda, tipping it over. All went to seize the falling cup. They all fail but Dam-bi with her fast reflex, "That was close." giving the guys the looks, "Are you sure you guys are really in Taekwondo with those slow movements?"
"Ouch, you just got burned!" Woo-Bin laughed.
"She's talking about you too," Min-hyuk affirmed. His laughter instantly dies out, "oh..."
"I'm sorry..." a little boy said nervously thinking he was gonna get yelled at. "It's okay. It didn't spill," Ha-neul quickly responded in fear the kid might cry. Dam-bi and the little boy made eye contact with one another. "Nuna...?"
Her forehead creases when he calls her, "Jeno?"
"Min-hyuk mouthed, "Who?"
Ha-neul mouthed back, "Step-brother." They pouted their lips with awareness.
"Did you find an empty spot somewhere?" an older lady questioned, walking up to her son and turning to the group sitting by the window and notices Dam-bi. Her expression darkens as she drags her kid away, "What bad luck I have."
The boys felt the change in the mood. "What's that old woman's problem?" "Someone, you know?"
Dam-bi stayed indifferent and finished her meal. "Why are you youngsters so curious?" Staring at Woo-bin, he hands back the book he finished automatically, "Well, see ya fellas."Signaling Ha-neul to get up so she can leave.
He placed his hand on top of her on the seat. She sighs and patted his hand, "Next meal on me."
"Was she the one Woo-young saw? At the bookstore, she gives off this cool/ intimidating vibe. But she's actually chill, man. Does she have a boyfriend?" Min-hyuk scoops in after she leaves.
Ha-neul glared at him, "Dream on boy."
"She's just my type. I wonder when our next meal will be?" Min-hyuk said dreamily. They saw her watching past the glass window. Min-hyuk knocks on the window for her attention, "Bye-bye, Nuna."
'Nuna,hah?' Ha-neul scoff.
She waved back, "See you next time, Min-hyuk."
Ha-neul took his rage at his straw, bitting it until Woo-bin asked, "What are we doing next? The arcade?"
---
The evening soon sneaks in. "Don't say a word about that woman when we go inside." The woman strictly instructed little Jeno as they went into the hospital.
"But mom..."
"No buts."
He frowned his brows in frustration that he couldn't but obey. With that settled, she opens the door to her husband's mother's room.
"Oh, look who came. It's our little sunshine. Did you come to see grandma?" "Yes, I am, Auntie Kim," Jeno responded. His aunt patted his head and went to her sister, "Took you long enough." She helped her unbox the meal she made today for her mother-in-law.
Jeno went straight to his dad and hugged him. "You have gotten heavy."
Hearing children's voices, she opened her eyes and smiled at Jeno, "Did you have fun today?" his grandma faintly asked. He fidgets around to give her an answer. "Grandma is asking you a question Jeno."
"Today I saw big sister," Jeno energetically told her and suddenly realized what he did and covered his mouth.
"Big sister? You meant that Dam-bi girl," Auntie Kim nudged her sister. "Who else? Look at her having time and not visiting her own grandma."
"Must you talk like that in front of mother and she is your daughter," he scolded, putting Jeno down.
" HA, I did not give birth to her." The atmosphere turns dreary.
"That's enough. There's a kid here," grandma addressed.
