In attempt to get her toaster after it has been stolen, Aubrey accidentally entangles herself with the highest supernatural beings ever existed~ gods. 

These gods are dangerous, irrational beings, who have been banished for their sinful and diabolical acts. And they still remain atrocious in their actions when they find out the "missing piece" is hidden inside the body of a 19-year-old college student, Aubrey. This "missing piece" belongs to Kai— the highest god, the pure representation of evil who is incapable of emotions other than anger and grief. He wants to get reunited with his missing piece, which means he'll do anything to get closer to the girl. But his brothers and sisters are determined to hide Aubrey from him, so as to keep the missing piece safe, before Kai gets his hands on her.

Things start to go sideways as affection, greed and lust arises among the gods, especially when Kai's half-brother starts to fall in love with Aubrey.

The Great and Lonely: Kai

"Just wait a little, gods of Olympus." His words make her turn to him.

She turns just in time to see the true facial expression of death. She has never seen the face serial killers put on when about to murder someone however, Kai's expression seems to be worse than that and it terrifies her that she is seated beside him.

"Once I get what I want from this pretty girl," He turns to give her a smile, "You all would be dead." He doesn't stop smiling, even with his last sentence and Aubrey swallows hard.

That is one thing she still doesn't understand.

'Kai wants to use her to destroy the world.'

That is what they tell her. But, what does she have that Kai wants? She has nothing to give him. Is she to pay with her life? Is that what he meant when he said he would be the one to kill her?
