In attempt to get her toaster after it has been stolen, Aubrey accidentally entangles herself with the highest supernatural beings ever existed~ gods. 

These gods are dangerous, irrational beings, who have been banished for their sinful and diabolical acts. And they still remain atrocious in their actions when they find out the "missing piece" is hidden inside the body of a 19-year-old college student, Aubrey. This "missing piece" belongs to Kai— the highest god, the pure representation of evil who is incapable of emotions other than anger and grief. He wants to get reunited with his missing piece, which means he'll do anything to get closer to the girl. But his brothers and sisters are determined to hide Aubrey from him, so as to keep the missing piece safe, before Kai gets his hands on her.

Things start to go sideways as affection, greed and lust arises among the gods, especially when Kai's half-brother starts to fall in love with Aubrey.

The Great and Lonely: Kai

AUBREY AUDIBLY HEARS CONNOR PANT. "It's not her. The longer the missing piece stays alive. If you find a way  to take it out of her, she can be freed."

Another hand slams against the table and Aubrey can tell it's Zondani. "It cannot be taken out of her, you know this!"

"I am trying to protect you and you're blindly going against me. You still haven't changed huh? You still act on your feelings without thinking properly." Zondani scoffs. "Do you know what humans are? Do you know what mortals can do? Do you know how they reason? You should know how corrupt and selfish they are especially after that human stumbled upon our village, even Kai could not fight him off."

"Aubrey isn't anything like that."

"Yes, you're right, she isn't. She is worse."

Aubrey chokes on air, feeling overwhelmed by Zondani's words.
