Chapter 11 End of Volume 1: Aftermath

"A successful battle."

Anna announces this happily.

"But we still have something to do."

E.L.H. looks around and spots the eggs from the lotus. Picking up the broken armor pieces thrown off, it walks to the eggs and starts crushing them. Inside are mutated wolves embryos. Making itself way into the chitin room, E.L.H. spots a massive egg. It looks similar to the Queen, but has a much bigger head and is much more bulky and with no front arms. The size itself seems to be smaller than the Queen.

"I'll start recording and taking notes on these discoveries. It's not like humanity didn't know that the Devours came from eggs but any information is good, especially fresh information. This egg is quite large and looks to be containing a frontline siege type Devour. There are many types that look like this one, but their capabilities are only seen when their fully grown. This one is not."

Observing the Devour inside the egg, E.L.H. discovers that the chitin looks quite thin and weak. While Anna is observing the Devour and finishing up her notes, E.L.H. walks around, clearing the room from guts and crushing whatever eggs remain.

"I'm done here. We could probably benefit more if we let it be born and see what it can do, but it's a risk that we could do without right now. Kill and we can leave."

Charging a piercing blast, E.L.H. walks up to the egg and smashes it with its blade and cannon arm. E.L.H. then fires a few shots and watches as the gigantic unborn Devour is ripped apart by the shots. The lotus itself is broken. Whatever organs that were keeping it alive were evaporated by E.L.H.'s hyper blast. Leaving, E.L.H. checks its battery.

"Looks like you only have 30% left. Lucky us that you finished the fight quickly. Also, please be more aware of your surroundings. You got crushed while I was inside you."

E.L.H., carrying its ripped off armor, makes a it-can't-be-helped noise and carry on back to base with Anna.
