Final Stand

"Tch… These aren't regular creatures. They are called false rankers, they represent a set of creatures that can manipulate creatures to change their sizes. They do this because they are smart. If you saw a cockroach, you would likely step on it, but what if you step on it and your body explodes? Now the cockroach is feasting on your brains."

He stopped and said, "They are actually not rare, but people don't encounter them often. Or sometimes they are lucky enough to avoid them. Now think of yourself… If you saw a regular bird flying around, would you suspect it of being able to peck your brains out?"

Jacob listened at the horror of his words. It made sense and he believed it made enough sense.

Still, he was fighting to not get killed by the swarm.

He slashed like mad trying to kill them. He killed them less and less by the second.

Clang!

A resounding slash rang out through the chamber. It was followed by a loud collision that left Jacob in the wall. Jacob gritted his teeth once more and forced an upgrade to himself again.

The pain subsided before they were able to reach Jacob. His sword was blazing with harsh white light he sliced into a Mutant terrier. The light caught his skin and ran down its spine. It exploded and sent both body parts to the side of the room.

"Piece of shit! Come if you want to die" Jacobs felt his power on another level. The waves of Mutant terriers flooded him. He waves his sword and hundreds of lights up the sky.

He was using the doom sutra continuously and his understanding became deeper. His sword began moving through them like butter on a hot knife. Nothing but killing filled his mind.

He decapitated tens of beasts like they were chickens. He took advantage of an unorganized attack pattern to kill them.

"Hmm, this kid gets stronger like it's nothing…. Maybe I should make this more interesting." The voice mischievously thought.

Jacob continued his reign of slaughter when he noticed something weird. The Mutant Terriers started surrounding him.

Jacob never understood this. He rushed to one of them, but he was attacked from behind. They tried to pile on top of him but he swiftly cut them down and escaped.

"What is happening, why do they seem more aware than normal? '' Jacob wondered for a second before his mind concluded.

Jacob clenched his teeth, "Old coot! Do you think fighting this much is enough already!"

He never heard a response, he gnashed his teeth when he saw the Mutant terriers surrounding him.

They surrounded Jacob and stalked him tirelessly. They attacked him together from different directions. Their skin got even harder, Jacob slashed only produced sparks on their skin. He slashed erratically all around him covering all his blind spots.

Jacob swords play was majestic, ferocious and deadly.

Jacob never lost stamina, he looked like he could hold them back all day. His footwork saved him from getting pummeled each time. The Doom sutra became stronger and he eventually started slicing them again.

He took one razor-sharp reaction to decapitate a mutant terrier that broke formation and overextended. The impact sounded like a gun as his head flew from its shoulders.

Jacob was locked in.

Suddenly from the mountain around him, he could hear a cold snort.

"Hmph"

It was audible, but Jacob heard it. The whole chamber started to shake uncontrollably. The tremors shook the ground like mad. It was harder to keep his footing firm and his movement flawless, but Jacob assumed it was this hard for the mutant terriers as well.

That was his first mistake. The terriers never used great movement, they shone more in number by swarming their opponent and beating them dead.

Jacob rolled his ankle and lost his footing. The Mutant terriers all pounced on him. Jacob fell with the full force of his head slammed on the hard cosmic stone. His nose leaked blood like a loose pipe.

The other terriers swarmed him and climbed. He tried to lift his head but he was beaten back down. They all took turns beating him and hitting the air out of his chest. They beat him to a gory mess, his blood lost in the trauma injuries he suffered and dozens of times slipping in and out of consciousness.

He slipped out and never regained consciousness.

This continued for some time when a figure appeared.

"Hmph, I guess it was just a hoax. How long will I have to wait?" The old man rubbed his beard. His back was hunched and his beard fell into his chest. They looked clean and released a calm aura. His face was wrinkly, and he wore a decorated robe over his body.

The man looked at the scene of Jacob but he was blind. His eye sockets were sunken, and he couldn't see, though he knew what was happening.

"Pity…..waiting is no fun...how long will I have to wait?" the old man looked sad at the result but he never seemed sad for Jacob. The man questioned something in his head and only muttered "weird, weird guy"

He shook his head and prepared to walk away.

Jacob's body was partly flattened and he was missing a piece of his head, His head was sunken in and blood pooled from it.

Jacob's body felt each strike, it all happened in slow motion.

He saw a prompt in his face. His eyes were finally becoming unfocused, he could barely see what was in front of him.

[Will you give your body to me]

In his half-dead state, Jacob never cared. He never gave it an answer. THen the prompt flashed before him again.

[Will you let me save you]

Jacob's eyes popped out of his eye socket, though he still remembered the message. "Being saved? Who would save me? I don't even feel remorse for my family. My fiance tried to kill me, but I don't hate her. Who would I benefit if I stayed alive? If I die it wouldn't be my problem anymore. I even gained a system and still died, I'm pathetic. What genius can't save his own life."

Jacob made a deformed smile, reminiscing of a life he could have, "Though I suppose living would be all too bad". He laughed at his stupidness, talking to himself. Thinking about living at a time like this.
