Chapter 5

Watching the blood drip down Cameron's arm Megan desperately tried to get free. The restraints were down to perfection, and she fell over on the ground from her struggles. Hearing the thud behind him Jeffery turned around and quickly lifted her from the ground.

The area surrounding Cameron was dirty and layered in cheap plastic, but Megan's area was spotless. The factory they were sitting in is abandoned and should be layered in dust. Jeffery made preparations last night to ensure his doll would stay pristine till transfer.

Once Megan was sat back up he was preparing to turn around, but heard the chair rocking. Jeffery quickly turned around catching her by the shoulder. If this was the only way to grab his attention Megan would do it again, and again.

"You're gonna hurt yourself. If you keep acting like that I'll have to put you to sleep again, but that's not good for you either. So just behave okay?" Jeffery smiled politely.

Hearing the mumbling Jeffery undid the gag.

"Let him go, and I'll do whatever you want...Just don't do it anymore, please." Megan pleaded with watery eyes.

Jeffery turned back towards Cameron seeing the same look, and a devious grin appeared.

"You love him don't you," Jeffery muttered in irritation.

Megan said nothing, and this caused Jeffery to fall silent. This is his special person so how could she love another?

"You're lying, and I can prove it." Jeffery kissed her neck.

Megan was struggling as he groped her chest, and began unfastening her blouse. The other hand was sliding up her thigh as he kissed lower. Megan saw Cameron struggling before her.

"I'm s-sorry," Megan told Cameron.

'Don't watch.'

As the uniform was popped open silence swept the warehouse. The smile and tender touch were gone. Jeffery grabbed her by the throat with a furious look on his face while examining her abdomen. There was a tiny scar, but to Jeffery, it was an undeniable flaw.

"Fifteen fucking hours...I could've been in San Diego by now, but no."

Jeffery grabbed the blade, and put it to her throat, but was distracted by their breath becoming visible. It was followed by an eerie aura that forced them both to shiver. The sounds of screeching tires and cars crashing broke erupted. Jeffery turned around and saw Cameron walking his way.

The black hair was turning white as Cameron's sclera slowly went black, and his brown eyes went arctic blue. There was a gleam in his pupil, and every step closer the air grew thinner. In Jeffery's world, he was the apex predator, but the feeling running down his spine said otherwise.

'H-how can he break the paracord?'

"Stay back!"Jeffery demanded.

Jeffery was trying to stab Megan, but his hand wouldn't budge. Looking down the blade, and his forearm were covered in a layer of frost. There had to be something wrong with his eyes, but Jeffery's attempt to touch his arm shattered it.

Cameron dashed in catching Jeffery with a right hook causing a loud crack. The force launched Jeffery into the wall shattering his back. He didn't even pay attention to the damage caused for Cameron's only concern was Megan. When reaching for the bindings she flinched from his touch.

"What's going on?" Megan asked while quivering.

"I don't know, but we need to get out of here." Cameron declared while approaching the table.

"I d-don't think we have to worry about him anymore." Megan glanced at the blood pooling up.

"Here." Cameron offered the clothes.

"Th-thank you." Megan quickly got dressed.

Cameron looked around for a way out when he noticed the damage to Jeffery. Now that Megan was out of harm's way he was trying to comprehend the events.

'How did that happen?' Cameron gazed at the palm of his hand.

As far as Cameron could see there were no differences in his appearance. The only change he noticed was a tingle in his chest, and slight pressure on his forehead. With each breath, he could feel it spreading through his body. His body gradually returned to normal, but there was still a nip in the air.

"W-what happened to you?" Megan asked.

"I'm not sure, but everything feels sore," Cameron replied.

'Finally.'

Cameron could see a set of doors at the end of the hall and rushed to exit. Opening the door the sounds of sirens were ringing from each direction, and fresh snow was seen piling upon the ground. They could see the interstate down the hill, and a pileup blocking traffic.

'How is this possible?' Megan glanced at Cameron.

"We need to call the cops," Megan stated.

Recalling his last run-in with the law Cameron was hesitant about involving them. He killed a man after all, and their explanation would seem like nonsense. If the cops thought they were lying about that then everything said after would be treated the same.

"Do you trust me?" Cameron asked.

"You know I do," Megan replied.

"Then let's go."

Cameron got in Jeffery's van and started it as Megan opened the back to get in. During the forced nap, their phones were discarded along the road along with their possessions. Being in a stolen car they wasted no time in getting out of the area. Once they were on the road it was a slow drive towards the school.

Everywhere they looked the emergency services were rushing to take action. Parking lots were being flooded with panic buyers, and scuffles could be seen at the entrance. Living in the desert at the start of May no one was prepared for a winter storm and especially one of this caliber.

"Seems like power is out everywhere," Cameron stated.

"Can we turn the heat on?" Megan requested.

Cameron turned it on without hesitation seeing her shiver, and to his surprise, it wasn't bothering him. After a long careful drive, they finally got back to the school. They ditched the car on a nearby road and were on the way home.

"How are your lights still on?" Megan asked.

"After the power went out during a heatwave I wasn't taking any more chances. It wasn't cheap but the panels are worth it." Cameron replied.
