YUGTO 8: Jacob's Letter [Part I: Unfulfilled Promise]

[Vanilla's POV]

Today is Saturday and also the first weekend of this school year. We are allowed to go out the University's premises then go back Monday morning. I can't miss my chance to see my family again. I woke up early and did my morning routines.

[KNOCK (2X)]

“Looks like you have a visitor. I'll head out first. Take care on your way home” Roseanne lazily said and got off her bed. Her actions sent curiosity through my veins sometimes. Hmm. “I thought you're going to help me pack my things?” I asked while looking at her in confusion. “I changed my mind. She's here, and I'm not comfortable around her. See you on Monday, Moonstones!” She said then exits our dorm using the window. Weird.

[KNOCK (2X)]

“Coming!” I said a little loud so that she can hear me. “Hello” Brianna greeted me the same time I opened the door. “Good morning, Candy Kane” I giggle while leading her inside the dorm. “A sudden nickname?” she acknowledged. I nodded my head proudly and gestured her to follow me inside the bedroom. “Text me if something bad happen okay?” I remind her again as soon as she started helping me to pack a few of my things. “Vans, I can manage myself so calm your peanut okay?” she assured me while zipping my backpack securely. “Besides, I am also planning to go home” she added, smiling at me widely. It's a relief then. I nodded my head, wearing my backpack. “Still text or update me as you can” I insist, but she just chuckles at me in return. “I'm serious about that, Brianna Kane” I strictly said, then I felt her arms wrapped around my waist protectively. “Yes mother” she joked, but peck my cheek in the end of her sentence.

“Want me to drive you home?” I offered as we both exit the dorm. I left my key under the mat in case Roseanne is not in the dorm at the time of my arrival. Brianna automatically clings her arms on mine on our way out. “Okay” said replied. We walk through the hallways like a normal student does, but met by obvious whispering from those annoying students. “Don't mind them” Brianna whispered. Seem like weekends made her confident and strong. Hope it last~ I just nodded in response. We're about to turn left to the way of her office when an interesting commotion was going on and almost of the students are already blocking the entire hallway. Great way to start my weekend, huh? Tsk.

“Who the heck freaking did this! Tell me!” A familiar guy yelled so loud early in this morning. Brianna and I exchange glances, recognizing the voice. “Jacob Triaz” I said while wiggling my eyebrows at her, receiving a light punch to the shoulder. “No one?!” He yelled again. The F he's mad about. I got curious, so I used my height advantage and tiptoed a little to have a better view of what's happening. “Can you chill for a moment, Jake?” Sahara said in boredom, then grabs the paper his holding. “What did you see?” asks Brianna while tagging on the hem of my sweater. I gave her a teasing look and smile. “Concern for your admirer?” I giggle, earning a light slap to my chest. She like hitting on me huh? No pun intended HAHA. “Why so cute, Candy Kane” I said, using the nickname I just made for her while sticking my tongue out for a second, then goes back to Jacob's show. “Calm my ass, Mendez!” He hissed. “It's just a freaking note, Jake. What the F you're being mad about. Let me see!” the impatient Alicia Perez stated while snatching the paper out of Sahara's.

“Listen” I informed Brianna and a huge smile starts spreading across my face. I'm anticipating to the note's content. It seems embarrassing for him though. I just watch Alicia elegantly unfolding the paper. “Dear, Jake” she reads the first line while smirking. “Did you miss me? You gave me this keychain as a symbol of our friendship. Still remember that promise?” she continued, but the smirk on her face is slowly fading. It turns to disgust in a split second. “I keep this like what you've told me because you promised me that you will protect Brianna right? But why did you just let them kicked-- then Alicia's eyes widen as her gazed travelled back to the guy who looks more shocked than everyone else. “What the fucking hell!” Alicia exclaimed in disbelief while looking at Jacob Triaz while Sahara almost look like she will die any second because of boredom.

“Let's get out of here” I said to Brianna then grab my baseball cap inside my bag to wear it to her head, so she won't recognize by them easily. “Stop looking at me like that! I don't know what the freaking sender was saying!” We heard Jacob said in his defense. That's right boy. Save yourself.

I snaked my arm over Brianna's shoulder as we quietly leave our current spot, but I think I had this invisible chain of connection to Sahara that she always locates me in the most UNEXPECTED time nor circumstances.

“Oy! New student” she greeted me, sounding happy which made Brianna flinch beside me as we halted. Wow. Let out a sigh before facing her while forcing a smile in her direction. “Oh. Brianna Kane STILL with you?” she teasingly asks, catching all the attentions. Here we go again. I just nodded my head, pulling Brianna closer to me. “Get used to it, girl. Kane and I are one” I nonchalantly said, receiving a death glare from Jacob. The F did I do to him? HAHA. He suddenly grabs the letter out of Alicia's grip, then walks towards my direction while glancing at Brianna, but then glare at me. Aw. No fair HAHA.

“Are you the one who did this!” he questioned me, but he also sounded like he was accusing me. Wtf. I raised an eyebrow at his direction, sarcastically laughing because of his accusation. “Hold on, Mr. Triaz. It's already obvious that I don't even give a single fvck about your group, so why would I bother to write you a damn LOVE letter? Boy, I'm gay okay? Plus, you will never be my type” I stated as matter of fact, but-- “Vanilla!” Brianna scream so loud when I fell to the floor because Jacob punches me hard to my lips.
