31 Armies of death

King Stephan argued about how he has been left out of every plan. "I don't understand this anymore. I know nothing about your plans and progress. I demand an update" he ordered. Empress Liah looked at him and slowly came up to him. "You want the crown don't you?, I bet you if you ask one more question, you'll lose even the crown of Guzatu".

"I only demand answers Liah. I need to make sure our plan is falling in place that's all" he said and sat back on his throne.

"We'll be in Darca in two days Stephan. Gather your army, we'll lead them" Liah said.

I, Kahlan, Aurora and the knights of Darca got ready for the war we knew we would be facing. Qarinah was bringing war to my doorstep. King Luther on the other hand had sent a number of army down to Darca and has been making progress on healing Torren.

"Can I ask you a question Aurora?" I asked Aurora when we were all sitted in the throne room. "Yes".

"Why did king Luther ask for me and not Torren's throne".

"Luther loves to take away what Torren loves the most. He did it before and he's doing it again" she responded.

"Did Luther come between you two?" I asked again.

"You said a question, and I already answered it, learn to keep to your words" she replied.

Kahlan and Owen were at another side of the palace. "I don't want you to get hurt Owen" Kahlan said.

"I'm a knight and I'm bound to get hurt but I promise to come back alive" Owen responded.

"Qarinah is dangerous and she can't be killed. I need you to retreat as soon as you see her"

"I will be seen as a coward if I do that Kahlan. Promise me that no matter what happens you'll move on".

"Don't say that. Ever again. You'll come back to me. There will be no need to move on" saying that she hugged Owen tightly and Owen reciprocated the action.

It was Dawn. The day Liah and her cohorts would show up. Our knights and servants sharpened our swords and polished our armors. I was really bothered of how it will end. If we win, I'll live with Luther forever as his wife, if we lose, I'll die and will never see Torren again. I was scared of the two options I had. One must come through.

Soon, armies started to match down to Darca. Liah's army. My army fought them with every strength they had but were taken down one after the other. We didn't know they were armies of death. Armies that couldn't be killed. When our knights noticed what was going on, sir Magnus gave orders and they retreated.

"What do we do now?, we'll all be killed" I panicked.

Aurora brought together some swords, she drew a star with five points on the floor, sat in it and began to chant. "Oh ye soldiers of death. Immortals, unkilled by human power, I invoke the seven spirits of the realm of Draven, you shall be down. El lardo tomenfe maritas av no cellas in comptiun morali, shine ye and penetrate" as she said those words, the swords caught on fire and after a while the fire stopped burning. "Here, this sword can kill the armies of death. Hand them over to your men".

Our men took the swords and set out to fight the armies of death. They had the enchanted sword but it wasn't easy taking down the armies of death. They were a lot and still counting. We were almost overpowered when there was a sudden flash of green light and half of the armies dropped dead and vanished into the air. The other half retreated and fell back to their evil mistress. Where did that flash come from? It was Luther. After the armies ran back Luther entered my throne room "Aurora did you really think you can put them out using some petty magic?" He asked Aurora. "Well if you had showed up earlier I wouldn't be tempted to use petty magic" Aurora responded sharply.

"I would have showed up earlier if I could. Torren would have been dead and don't even underestimate Liah, you do think she only fortified some soldiers?, Liah raised dead armies, no weapon can penetrate them and not all magic can take them down Aurora" he responded then turned to me "very soon all this will be over my lady". I looked at him in fear and swallowed hard.

Liah was so pissed at Luther. "How dare he, Luther how dare you" she quickly disappeared and appeared in my throne room "how dare you Luther. I have never meddled in your business why would you meddle in mine" she was really furious. "Liah, the moment you made an attempt on my brother's life, you meddled in my affair" Luther replied calmly but annoyingly.

"Your brother huh. You and Torren are sworn enemies so don't you dare pretend to care about him" she them looked at me "it's because of her isn't it?, she's a mere mortal Luther. Trust me you'll regret it" she said in anger as sparks or fire flickered in her hands.

"Keep your rage under control empress Liah, your magic is useless here as long as I'm concerned". "This has just begun King Luther" Empress Liah disappeared in anger.

I was so terrified. I had never seen a woman as evil looking as she. I had no memories of what I did as her magic slave so apparently, her appearance at this time is my first time setting my eyes on her. I looked at Luther and Aurora to see their reaction, they weren't scared. Not even for a moment.

"How do you do it?" I asked Aurora. "Do what?" She asked in reply.

"How do you not panic, you're brave even in the toughest situations".

"I'm not human Diana. Why would I panic?" She replied and walked away.

"How's Torren?" That was the only question I asked at that point, I've been so worried about him. "Recovering faster than I thought. You should start getting ready to be my queen Diana". My heart sank deep into my stomach.

Kahlan rushed out to look for sir Owen. As she searched through the injured knights she called out his name. She searched until she found him. He wasn't hurt. He was only attending to sir Leone who had an arrow stuck to his left shoulder. With Kahlan's help, Leone received a faster treatment.

Liah or Qarinah didn't strike back immediately but we were alert. We knew they'll be back and this time with something more powerful and dangerous.
