Chapter 15: Outside

I laid on top of the hay bale, as Frank had told me it was, as for some reason it was a little bit hard for me to fall in to some sleep. I was not sure if it was just in my head at this point, that I was going to see cats in my dreams, or not, which it was not really scary at all, so I would not be sure as to why that would make me not want to go to sleep.

I looked over to Frank and Owl, as I saw that Owl was fast in to some deep sleep, which I was kind of jealous of if I was not going to lie. I missed the days when I was a kit, and I got to sleep a ton. It was not like that at all any more, as now a days, it was hard for me to get any sort of sleep.

I sighed a bit, as I saw Frank hunch up as he was still awake, such as I was. He was awake for a different reason how ever, as I know that he was just trying to defend his kit, which I really did not blame him for it at all. I would be the same way if I had a kit that did not have a mother.

He did not know me at all, and for all that he knew, I could be a cat that he could not trust at all, even though I knew that not to be the case, he did not know that, as I was to him, simply a cat that had come up to his home, and told him all sorts of stories to try to trick him in to trusting me.

As I kept my eyes on Owl for a little bit longer, as I was still think some sad thoughts of what it would have been like if I would have had parents, I saw from right beside him, that Frank hunched him self up, as he stepped in front of his kit, so that I was no longer able to see him any more.

I looked at Frank for a few seconds, as I saw that he his eyes squinted at me for quite a bit of some time, as I could still tell that he did not trust me one bit, which I did not blame him for at all, if I was going to be real with my self. I sighed a bit, as I then looked away from the both of them, and I just stared at the wall that was beside me.

I had a lot of sad thoughts going on through my head, as it felt like I had left so much behind at my two leg place, but the more that I thought about it, the more that I realized that it was not the case at all. The only thing that I had left back there, was simply my friend Ben, and I knew that it more than likely was a bit of a relief to him that he no longer had to make sure that I was okay, just like my parents had asked him to do.

I shook my head, as I knew the real reason as to why I was so sad. It was not that I was sad at all in fact... It was that I was afraid... I did not really like trying new things if I was going to be real with my self, and I also was a bit afraid of all of the scary creatures that were out in the wild, that I had been told about.

I heard one of those creatures begin to howl quite loudly, as I recognized the howl to be a coyote, just as Night had told me about them, as they liked to go after cats when they were by them selves, so that they did not have to fight back against their 'prey' so to say, which made me feel sick that I cat would be considered prey.

I sighed, as I shook my head at the same time as well, as I knew that I needed to just shake all of those thoughts from out of there, and not let it eat me up at all, as I kind of almost felt like for some odd reason or another, that I just wanted to cry my self to sleep, but at the same time too, I also did not want to look weak to Frank and his kit.

I shook off all of the thoughts to be best of my abilities, from out of my head, as I then closed my eyes at the exact same time as well, as I felt like that might be able to help me fall in to some sort of sleep as well, as I knew that I was very tired, due to the fact that I had walked more in one day, than it felt like I had ever walked in my life.

I was not a fat cat by any means, as I typically did not eat all that much, due to the fact that I was used to sharing it with my friend Ben. I was just simply a kitty pet, and I knew that kitty pets did not really exercise all that much at all, as they usually spent most of their time in their house, just laying in the sun that gazed through their windows.

My friend Ben was not one of those kitty pets at all, such as I had been, as he liked to go out side of his two leg nest and explore. I had been tempted to do the same as him, as I had the opportunity to do as such plenty of times, due to the fact that I had a cat door at the front of my home, but for some reason, I had just been too afraid to do as such.

Just like I had been afraid to go out side, like I was right now. Thankfully Ben had made up my mind to do so. He was a great friend, as I was not going to lie, as it made sense as to why my parents had liked him so much. I really was going to miss him, as I could say that for a fact, for sure.

I tear dripped from my eye, as I then shook off all of those thoughts that seemed to be swarming through my brain all at once. I knew how tired that I was, as I knew that I needed to fall asleep, and not be so lost in my thoughts at this current moment in time, as it would only simply hurt me even more.

I smiled at the thought of the life that I had ahead of me, as I then rolled over a little bit at the same time too, so that I could get in a more comfortable spot, as I then felt like this was the spot that was good for me to fall asleep in. Once I had that in my head, it did not take all that long for me to lay to rest right after all of that.

I woke up, and I once again was not in the same place that I had fallen asleep in just the night before, as I let out quite a loud sigh at the exact same time too, as I knew that I was in another dream. I was not going to lie, when I said that the places that I saw in my dreams, were very beautiful. But at the same time as well, I also just wanted to wake up to a normal day rather than be stuck in a dream for so long.

I shook my head, as I then began to look around as to where it was that I was at this time, as I saw that I was in the wild just based off of the fact that there were so many trees all around me at this very moment in time. I groaned at the same time too, as I was not sure what to do, as I did not want to be here.

I began to walk around, as I at least wanted to look around to see where I was at. The last few dreams, now that I had thought about it, had taken me to the place that I was at right now, so for all that I knew, this might need to be the place that I had to go next, so that I could continue to the place that the cat that went by the name of 'Stoneteller' had told me to go.

I shook my head, as I then began to look around, to see if there was any thing that was familiar to me about these woods that I was at right now. As I looked around, as I was a little bit disappointed to see that there was nothing that I had seen before, which I felt like she not be all that big of a surprise to me at all.

I shook my head, as I felt like a bit of an idiot at the same time, now that I thought on it a little bit more. I really had only been out in the woods for 2 days, so of course there was going to be no where that I recognized, as I really had not gone out all that far at all, I had begun to realize.

I sighed, as I just stopped my self at the exact same time too, and I sat down on the floor of the woods, not so sure as to what it was that I should do now. I wanted to just close my eyes, in the hopes that I woke up to see that I was in the same place that I had fallen asleep at in the morning.

If I was going to be honest, I had not a clue as to what it was that I was going to do tomorrow, but I was sure that it would not be all that hard for me to think of some thing, as I did have quite the creative mind, as I had been told more than once. I grinned a bit at those thoughts, as I laid down on the floor of the woods, like I was about to go in to sleep, even though I was in a dream as it was already.

I began to slowly close my eyes, as I was about ready to drift of in to a new state of sleep, when all of the sudden I heard some sort of noise right near me, which woke me up a bit, as I began to look around for just a little bit of some time, to see as to what it was, as well as to see as to where it had come from in the first place too.

I did not see any thing for quite a bit of some time, which had me quite a bit freaked out, as I was not so sure as to what was going on, neither where the sound had come from. I probably should not be so freaked out, as I knew that this was just a dream, and that none of it was real at all.

That was true right? I had found the cat that had been in all of my dreams, so I was starting to get a little bit of some suspicious vibes about all of it, as to the fact that this could very well be real like it or not. I blinked a few times, as I looked around for just a little bit longer, but I then gave up after not seeing any thing any where.

For all that I knew, it could have just been a mouse or a squirrel that had ran past me with out my notice, as it would make sense if it had seen me before I had seen it. I was not really in the mood to try to hunt at this very moment, as I was not hungry at all, nor did I want to give energy to dry and hunt.

I sighed loudly to my self, as I turned my head back to what it was that I had been looking at before, as I was about to lay my self down to get some rest, when all of the sudden, I saw some thing right in the direction that I had been looking at, at first, as I jumped back at the same time as well, as it had scared the night lights out of me.

I was about to run away for just a little bit of some time, to get away from what ever it was that had come out to scare me so much, but I relaxed and calmed my self down a bit, when I got some time to at least see what it was that had come out of the middle of no where with out any sort of sound, to do a thing such as that.

I then saw just what it was, or who it was that had done so, as I saw the familiar face of Stoneteller, as it calmed me down quite a bit at the exact same time too. I sighed, as I saw him nod to me, as I then nodded back to him at the exact same time too, as I then began to wait for him to speak up to me.

Stoneteller looked at me with quite a blank look on his face for a little while longer, as if he in fact decided that he was not going to speak up to me at all. I was a bit confused, until suddenly it seemed like he then changed his mind once again, as he did in fact begin to speak up to me, as I then listened as to what it was that he had to say to me at the exact same time too.

The time comes near where you meet your greatest foes.

And oh how cold the mountain winds blow.

A life once forgotten will soon be shown.

And soon the missing pieces shall be sowed

He said to me in quite a strange tone of voices, as it sounded a lot like gibberish to me if I was going to me honest with my self. I was not so sure as to just what was going on with that cat at the current moment in time, as I saw that he had a strange look in his eyes, almost as if he was a blind cat, and his eyes were in the color white.

I shook my head, as I felt like perhaps I was going crazy, and that none of this was real at all, even though I felt that it surely was, due to the fact that I had found the cat that I had been seeing in my dreams. I still was a little bit lost as to why the cat might be so important to help me in the first place, as he just seemed to be some sort of normal cat.

I knew that it was the first step to get to the place that I had been told to go to in all of my dreams.

I just was not so sure as to what I even needed to help me from that cat. Maybe I needed to bring him with me for all that I knew, though I really doubted that, due to the fact that he seemed to be happy with his kit, at the place that he lived at right now. I did not blame him for it either, as I was nearly tempted to ask him one of these days, if I could live with them.

I knew that I could not do as such how ever, as I had to go to the place that the cat in my dreams had told me to go. He had brought me here so far, so I would not just give up on him yet. I still was a bit lost as to what it was that he had meant by the repeated fact that he had told me to follow the sun trail, but I was sure that some thing would show me what it meant one of these days.

I shook my head, at the same time too, as for some reason, I was thinking of that cat like he was in the past, even though I knew that he was in the present, due to the fact that he was sitting right beside me, and staring in to my soul at the exact same time too, which still kind of creeped me out.

I shook my head, as I let out quite a bit of a sigh to my self at the exact same time too, as I was not so sure what it was that I was doing at this very moment in time. What was I even thinking about? The cat that I was thinking about now was right beside me so I may as well go ahead and speak to him, to try to get some sort of answers out of him, though I was not sure how much he would tell me, as he seemed to be a bit of a strange, and mysterious cat.

I nodded to the cat, to let him know that I was about to speak to him. I waited to get a nod back to him, for quite a bit of some time, but sadly that was just not the case at all, as he just continued to stare at me, as if he was looking through me, and I was not there at all for him at this very moment.

I knew that not to be true of course, due to the fact that he had just spoken some strange words to me, as I knew that he was well aware that I was with him in this strange spot in the woods that I was in right now. The silence kind of freaked me out a bit, as there was usually crickets out side, on a night like this, but that did not seem to be the case at all right now.

I shivered, as I shook off all of those thoughts, as I kind of felt like I was a bit ready to give up now, as I then began to speak up to him after a bit more time had seemed to pass. I was not so sure if he was even listening to me in the very first place, due to the blank look that I saw on his face, but I kept on continuing to talk to him any ways.

"What does that mean? Where am I? Why am I here?" I asked the cat, as I kind of felt bad for asking so many questions to him at the exact same time as well, as I could tell that he was an older cat for sure, just based off of the fact that most of his fur was greyish whitish at this point, even though it was clearly no his original fur color.

I knew that older cats did not like to be asked so many questions as well, and I dipped my head as I was a little bit lost on my own train of thoughts, as well as the fact that I was quite a bit embarrassed as to what it was that I had just said to him at the exact same time too.

We both stood there in silence for just a bit of some time, as it was clear to me that he did not have a word to say back over to me. It kind of annoyed me at the same time too, as I really did not like to be ignored when I asked a question such as that one, but that seemed just like what it was that the cat was about to do to me.

I sighed a bit to my self, as I was just about ready to close my eyes at the exact same time too, and go back in to a different state of sleep, so that I could wake up and feel refreshed in the morning, after the long day that I had just had, that I had spent walking to this place with all of the strange animals and two leg places in a big field.

It was a nice place, as I was not going to lie, as I still was a bit tempted to ask Frank if I could live near there, even if I knew that I had a job that I needed to get done. Perhaps I could just ignore that, and do what ever it was that I wanted to do. Though I felt kind of bad for some odd reason or another, for even thinking thoughts like that.

I shook my head, as I all of the sudden lifted my head up all at once at the exact same time too, to look back at Stoneteller, and ask him another question that I doubted that he would even answer any ways. I figured I may as well try, as from what it seemed to be to me, he knew a lot more about the wild than I did.

As I lifted my head up how ever, I saw that the cat was no where to be found at all, as it seemed like he had just all of the sudden disappeared. I was tempted to freak out a bit, as I realized just now, that I was alone in the woods, and I did not have a single clue as to where it was that I was at right now, but I held my self in, as I tried to tell my self that I was stronger than that.

I continued to look for clues as to where it was that Stoneteller had gone of to, so that I could perhaps follow him, but as I looked around, I did not see foot prints of a cat any where, nor did I smell a cat any where near me. I did smell a bit of a rotten stench from not too far away from me how ever, that kind of make me squint my eyes.

It was one of the nastiest smells that I had ever smelt in my life, as it was even worse than the smell of rotten prey, which I had smelt a few times before, as there used to be some mice that lived in the walls of my old two leg place, that had died, and no one had been able to find it, and clean it up.

At first I had been excited as to the smell of prey, but as those days had gone past me, the smell began to get worse and worse, as I had to spend a lot of my time out side of the two leg place, and in the back yard due to that. I felt like because I had gone in to the back yard, it had made a lot of influence in the decision that I had made to go and live out in the wild.

I shook those thoughts off all at once at the same time too, as I suddenly heard some thing in the woods not too far away. As I listened to it, I then realized at the exact same time too, that it was a lot louder than the noise that I had heard come from out side of the area that I was in earlier.

It for sure was not fresh prey, nor was it a cat either, as it had to be some thing that was a lot bigger than all of that. I shivered a bit to my self, as I heard the noise all around me suddenly, as it kind of sounded like what ever it was, it was swarming me at this very moment in time.

It was for sure more than just one of what ever it was that it could be, as it was really freaking me out, as I was not so sure as to what it was that I should do, as I suddenly ran over to the roots of a nearby tree, that was not all too far away from me as I looked ahead to see as to what it was that was even making all of that racket in the first place.

I was starting to get more and more scared, as I heard the foot steps getting closer and closer to me, as if it was a bunch of dogs that we're heading right over to me, just based off of how loud the foot steps seemed to be at this very moment in time. I knew that they were coming right over to me as well, as I was sure that they might have smelt me in the woods, or even heard me speaking to the cat that was not even there for all that I knew.

That was when I all of the sudden heard the loud howls of the things that I had heard just last night, that Frank and told me, were the sound of coyotes, as he had told me that it was very dangerous at night, as they went after cats like me when they were alone. Of course too, it was night time, I was in the wild, and I was also alone.

It was all 3 of the things that he had told me not to do, and I was doing all of them all at once. I felt like a bit of an idiot, as I was not too sure as to how I had got my self in to this situation in the first place any ways, as I tried to hide under the branches, as it sounded like they were right up on me now.

That's because they were of course, as I saw the pack suddenly poke their heads out of the clearing that I was in at this current moment in time. I looked at them, as at first I was not nearly as afraid, as it looked to be the size of a medium sized dog, but as I looked at them a bit closer, that was when I then began to get a bit more afraid.

I could tell that these coyotes were hungry, and that they were looking for some prey such as I was to them at this very moment in time. I could tell just by the looks on their faces, that they were ready to find me. It was not just that, that scared me how ever, as I also noticed the fact that the coyotes were in a very large group.

I shivered, as I freaked out about all of that at the exact same time too, as I saw that the coyote that was in the middle then lifted it's head up in the air. At first I thought that it had been doing that so that it could howl to get even more of the coyotes over to it, but I then realized that it was sniffing in to the air, so that it could scent it's prey.

I realized at the exact same time as well too, that the prey that it was searching for, was me as well, as it lifted it's head back down, and then it looked right over to me. At first, I thought that it had a bit of a smile on its face, but I then remembered that animals such as these ones, did not have any sort of emotions, and that was why they killed innocent cats such as me.

The coyote then began to pant a bit to it's self for some odd reason or another, as I could tell that it was trying to get the attention of the other coyotes that it was with right now, on to him. As I saw it look around at its companions for a little bit of some time, as I heard it grunt loudly at the exact same time too, which freaked me out even more.

I was not so sure as to what it was that I should do at this very moment, as I knew that I should try to run, but I felt like, for sure, that they would easily be able to catch up to me, as they were a lot bigger than me, and based off the fact that I could see that they were quite a bit skinny to, it meant that they would be a lot faster than me as well.

I shook my head, as I felt like I should at least try at the very least, but for some odd reason or another, I was stuck in this spot, as it seemed like I was not even going to be able to give my self a chance to get out of this spot that I was in right now. I shivered once again, as I saw all of the coyotes heading right over to me now.

I saw a few of them with their tongues out as well, as I knew just what it was that they were about to do to me. I was going to be their prey... I was not so sure what it was that I should do, as I was still a little bit lost on what it was that I was even doing in the first place, as well as how I had even gotten here at the same time too.

As they got closer to me, they all of the sudden stopped for some odd reason or another, as it seemed like they all had changed their mind on killing me for what ever reason. I was starting to feel a little bit relieved at first, as I nearly about to go and get up and leave, that was of course, until the one that hid lifted it's head up, to sniff at the air, did in fact run at me.

I watched in a bit of some slow motion, as there was not a single thing that it felt like I could do right now, as I just let the coyote run right at me. It all of the sudden then came back to me all at once as well, that this was simply just a dream, and that none of this was real at all.

I blinked a few times, as I suddenly did in fact remember that, as I breathed in quite a bit heavily to my self at first, as I then closed my eyes, to let all of it go away from me. It did a fairly good job at the same time too, as I suddenly felt quite a bit of some warmth, which told me that I was no longer in the cold leaf fall night.

I shivered a bit, as I remembered just how cold it had been in the first place, not too long ago, as I was not so sure as to what it was that was going on with me at this very moment. I was still a bit freaked out about the fact that I was in a scary dream not but just a few moments before now.

I was about to open my eyes a little bit slowly, until all of the sudden, I felt some thing nudge up against me, which did in fact scare me quite a bit, as I was not so sure as to what it was that it could quite possibly be. At first I was worried that the coyotes were still with me, and they had just got up on me, until I quickly opened my eyes to see as to what it was.

I blinked a few times, as the light in the room was quite a bit bright to me, as my eyes were used to the darkness of being closed. It took me a few moments to get my eyes used to the light, but when I did, I then began to look around as to where it was that I was at, as I realized that I was no longer in the woods at all, and it had in fact simply been a dream.

I breathed in a heavy sigh of relief, as I began to stretch my self up, as the fact that some thing had pushed up on me, had woken me up quite a bit fast. I stretched my self out a bit for a few moments, until I realized in fact, that there had been some thing that had woken me up in the first place too.

I looked all around me for just a few moments, as it did not take long to see the familiar face of Frank, the cat that had been nice enough to let me stay a night at his home. It relaxed me quite a bit, as I then nodded to my self, as I then began to lick my fur, to clean my self up a bit.

Frank had his eyes on me all the while, as I realized, as I then turned my head over to him at the exact same time too, and I then looked right back in to his own eyes. Frank nodded to me, as I was wide awake now, so it did not take me all that long to be able to nod right back over to him.

Frank let out quite a big sigh all at once at the same time too, as he looked up at the top of the strange two leg place called a 'barn' that we were in at this very moment. After just a few more seconds too, he then finally began to speak to me, as I then listened as to what it was that he had to say to me at the exact same time as well.

"So... Are you ready?" He said to me at first, as I was just a little bit confused as to what it was that he had been getting at in the very first place to, as I tilted my head at him. He looked at me for just a bit of some time, as he then rolled his eyes at me as if I was some kind of an idiot. I really did not have a clue as to what it was that he was talking about how ever. He then let out quite a heavy sigh, as he shook his head, and then began to continue to speak to me. "Don't you remember? The rabbit? We were going outside..."
