17. Mana Well.

He tries to slide the orb of clarity inside his empty eye socket but without a mirror its proving too difficult. Alexis take the orb from him and gently pushes it in.

It's a strange feeling, it has the texture of an ice cube except its warm like someone had it in there pocket.

He looks around for a moment trying to see if there is any difference now. It takes a moment but now if he focuses on trying to look through his left eye, which is now the orb, he can see a faint glow around Alexis.

He's not sure what this means but at least his idea worked. Even though he doesn't have an eye to look through the orb, apparently it will still work this way.

Now there's another thing he wanted to do since he got another C rank core. Since he can strengthen himself, then why not give this one to Alexis?

"Here Alex, use this core."

He hands her the C rank core. She looks perplexed for a moment not sure what to do.

"You should see a blue window right? Just tap the plus sign on the stat you want while holding the core." He explains.

She does as he instructs and taps the air in front of her and then starts to fall over....

Leon quickly catches her before she hits the ground. He figured something like this might happen considering it happened to him.

It seems the C rank cores level them up far enough that it unlocks their class in one go. At least thats what Leon thinks is happening. He'll have to gather more information.

For now, while Alexis is knocked out, Leon begins wrapping up his face in bandages again. It still hasn't fully healed and will take a couple more days or even a week.

When he finishes bandaging himself he notices something very odd. If he focuses on his left eye he can still see the glowing outline around Alexis. Even though the bandaging is completely blocking his view.

Other than her outline it's complete darkness for his left eye. It's almost as If its highlighting living beings only.

"That's odd. The description didn't say anything about this."

Maybe there's more to this artifact than what he originally thought. Either way, he needs to get some sleep for now. They have quite a few more floors to fight through next.

Before sleeping he grabs the mana cube out of his backpack. If this artifact is able to store mana like a battery then he should start charging it any time he has spare mana.

He holds it in front of him and focuses his mana on the cube. It greedily absorbs his mana until the last drop. Before he can stop the process he loses consciousness.

-----------------

A couple of hours later Leon wakes up. He looks over to see Alexis still in a deep sleep. He wonders what kind of class she'll get. Up to this point she hasn't done any fighting herself.

He also has nothing to base this off of since he's never seen anyone else with a class besides himself.

Just as he's thinking about this, Alexis begins to stir in her sleep. It looks like she might be having a nightmare of some sort.

Leon holds her head gently while this is happening. Eventually she opens her eyes slowly. Her eyes are emitting a pure blue light. This goes on for a few seconds before the light slowly fades away leaving her normal eye color.

"What was that..." he mumbles to himself.

"Leon? What happened...?

"Everything is okay, you just fell asleep is all." he explains.

"Oh... I feel weird."

After whatever that was with your eyes turning into flashlights of course you'll feel weird Leon thinks. Although she might have gotten some kind of rare or unique class.

"What does your class say?" he asks.

She looks at the air in front of her for a moment with a confused look.

"Um, it says my class is called Mana Well."

"Mana Well huh? I've never heard of anything like it. What does the description say Alex?"

"Let me see.... It says that the conduits that absorb the mana in the air are enhanced so much that I will regenerate mana much faster than others."

"So you've become an endless source of mana. That's a really unique class you got there. Now you can help out your big brother."

"I can?!"

"Of course." He says while patting her head. First we'll have to find you an artifact or a spell book so you have something to attack with."

"Yay! Let's go right now!"

"Okay okay! You got all your stuff packed?"

"Ah! One second!..... Okay I'm ready!"

They both place their hands on the crystal and teleport to the next floor.

They spend the next few hours fighting their way through the different floors of the tower. Although most of the fighting is being done by Spike and Edgar. They are quite the efficient team. Spike blocks the enemies and keeps them distracted while Edgar uses his poison breath to kill them.

The good thing about this combo is that they don't have to kill each enemies one by one. With Edgar's poison breath all they have to do is round up all the zombies they can and eliminate them in one fell swoop.

With this tactic they start to climb the tower at a much faster pace then before. It only takes a total of 9 hours for them to reach the next boss floor. On normal floors the entire floor is filled with different rooms and hallways but on a boss floor the entire floor is one big room.

They both went and placed there hands on the crystal and were teleported away. When they reappeared they were standing in complete darkness.

One by one the torches on the walls lit up reaching all the way to the back of the room. Leon was looking around carefully trying to find their opponent. Once all the torches lit up he was left confused. There wasn't a boss here.

At least that's what he thought until they heard faint clicking sounds above them. He looked up peering through the darkness only to see something moving around in the darkness.

"Spike stay with Alex." Leon commanded as he walked forward with Edgar on his heels.

Alexis hopped on Spike like he was a horse. With her size being quite small and Spikes natural strength she was able to pull this off easily.

They stayed back next to the entrance while Leon and Edgar moved forward slowly. Once they made it to the middle of the room the clicking noises got louder until.....

All of a sudden a giant spider like creature slid down its web hanging from the ceiling right in front of Leon. Behind it were hundreds of similar spiders but smaller in size.

Leon quickly pulled out the azure sword ready to fight. He quickly sprung in to action lunging forward and slashing one of the spiders close to him clean in half. It was just a smaller one and there are many more charging towards them at this moment.

Just as Leon slashed the spider in half, Edgar had released his poison breath that instantly covered a dozen small spiders. They let out a loud screeching sound for a couple of seconds before Flipping on there backsides with there legs curled up and dead.

Meanwhile Spike was taking car of any stray spiders going after Alexis. He wasn't the best at taking out a lot of weak enemies but it was enough to protect her.

After killing a few of the spiders with his sword he knew he couldn't continue like this. He had to take them out faster or they would quickly become overwhelmed. He began throwing out blue energy beams horizontally to hit as many as he could.

The beams would light up the surrounding area while slicing through the horde of spiders. It seems they can fly through ten spiders before sizzling out. Even so he kept slashing through the air over and over killing large amounts of them.

Very soon the massive nest of spiders were on top of them. They tried to bite Leon's ankles but he would slice them clean in half just before they could. Edgar was fairing much better than the others. It was the perfect enemy for his ability. He was running around at a full sprint while spewing poisonous gas leaving a trail behind him.

He made sure to run in such a way that cut off a large portion of spiders letting Leon fight a few before letting in more. Some of the spiders managed to latch on to Leon by dropping from the ceiling. Although he did have his new golden armor which made short work of their small teeth. The spiders couldn't penetrate his armor so he focused on killing as many as he could with no regards to his own safety.

Pretty soon they had wiped out almost half of the spiders when the largest one gave a series of short screeches.
