A few days later, the gang looked all around for answers for the mystery assailant and who he was affiliated with. Ben and Tasha looked around the alleyways, talking to people that lived in them, but they didn't know anything about it. Gabriel used telepathy to scan a 50 meter area and see if the assailant was around. Unfortunately he wasn't, and kept looking around. Quason and Harris looked in the air to see if there were any drones or bird familiars, but there were none. Everyone met back at the bar, seeming defeated.
"Damn it all, we been searching all day and still nothing. These whole 3 days just went straight to hell."
Said Tasha as she ate some fries with a steak. It seemed ironic since she was a plant nymph, and the normal stereotype for them is to not eat meat. But then again she was never normal to begin with.
"I know. It's a complete bloody mess. How in the hell is there no sign of that person. There's no energy trail, marking, and no one's seen or heard anything unusual. But how? This sort of thing never happened before."
Ben was tapping his fingers trying to piece together everything he could, even though nothing did. His brother, who was a spirit, was sleeping on his head while in the shape of a cat. Even though he wasn't in a physical body, he still felt exhausted from the searching. Harris was texting Taro who was looking around town as well, but unfortunately he came up empty, or so that's what Taro told him. He was actually in a secluded mystic space, cut off from view.
"Listen, you attacking them was not part of our deal. You honestly don't think do you? I said no stunts, we don't need this attention."
Taro sounded furious, not looking away from the hooded figure, who was actually a mazoku beast. The beast just looked at him with a blank expression.
"You've fallen for that wannabe demon haven't you? Bastard, you've been corrupted by this petty reality of fools and delusion. You are a fraud. You know as much as everyone else that we are the evolved ones, humans will die, your Overlord will have his paradise, and these ridiculous feelings shall be erased. Or you shall be. Are we clear, boy?"
The beast had a menacing aura, and it seemed to be suffocating Taro, even though he was trying to hide it. He nodded reluctantly and undid the space. His head hung low in defeat and he held his chest as tears flowed from his eyes. He was unable to forget his emotions for Harris, yet he couldn't find it in himself to disobey this far into his deception. If he was found out, he would be killed. Yet if he was asked to, he'd have to kill Harris and the others. It then started to rain and he ran to Harris's apartment, hiding his tears in the rain water running down his hair and face. Harris went in, and saw Taro all wet.
"T-taro, you got caught in the rain? Sorry, I'll dry you off. But..you'll have to get naked."
He blushed a bit and turned around from Taro while he got undressed. But then Taro got undressed and held Harris from behind, a lusty expression was all over his face. Harris was nervous, unable to move.
"I want you. Please Harris, I can't wait anymore. I want you to-"
Harris held his hands, looking Taro in the eyes. Taro looked back, then hugged him while smiling.
"Sorry. But..if you want…then we could try. I was just trying something I…well never mind. I'm eh…gonna dry off now."
Taro said, slowly shuffling into the bathroom. Harris had a large smile on his face, and went into his room to get himself prepared for a second shower.
