UNIT- 1 Chapter 1.1~ Father is gone

Jane, 10 and Ana, 15 years old, two sisters, happily living with father Jacob, who was an author of some best selling novels and now working on a novel named "if I were a vampires", mother named Renie beautiful, calm, sweet women with all the best motherly and a wife qualities. it was 1st June 1995, the very first day of summer vacation, a beautiful sunny day. Renie was preparing everyone's favourite meatballs and spaghetti for lunch, everyone was called for the lunch, Jane and Ana, hopped from upstairs and Jacob from the basement, it was a beautiful house, with all whites pinks, blues, reds, colourful showpieces decorated on white walls around the walls, downstairs was a big living room with the wide open kitchen setted with a dining table, on which everyone sat together and prayed and had their lunch with cheers and laughter, picture of a perfect family. Father Jacob, told them about his new novel, and his research about vampires, which made Jane and Ana very excited as they were fond of vampires and their stories, Jacob then told not to be disturbed in the evening as he will be doing some research about vampires in the basement.

It was late half past 11 at night and Jacob was still working, Renie thought to look once and ask him to have his dinner, what she saw shook her for a moment and she screamed so loud that sleeping Jane and Ana woke up and ran downstairs, finding the open gate of basement the ran into it, where they saw their mother sitting next to their father and trying to wake him up, but Jane and Ana noticed something else, their father having a locket in his hand holding tightly which was shining red as if it has trapped some rays of sun, mother then screamed, "we lost him, we lost your father, how would we survive", and Alas "we lost our father, father is gone".

"Father will come back Ana, said Jane to me, I have seen movies, and read stories dead could be brought back to life, we will bring him back", poor Jane, I hold her tight, but she was fine, hoping that he will come back, "maybe he went on to meet some vampires for his novel, said she, again".

We spent our night watching him, consoling my mother who watched Jane hopefully with what she said, but I don't believe, and I was thinking, "how I am even going to console and understand both of them that he will never come back". Granny Rossy come by 4 in the morning and asked us to live with her in Texas, but it's the mother who will decide where we would live, who was not in a condition to do so, "Jane said, I don't want to go with her, I don't like her", neither do I, "what mother would decide", perplexed both of us.
