Chapter 2: Unwanted attention

"Brother, how could you choose your son instead of me? I am way more reliable, and he doesn't even want to be king! You know after the incident he has already stated he doesn't want to be king, he's happy making those useless toys of his" Markus said slamming his hand on the table. "Markus, brother he is the only rightful king and is the only one fit enough seeing that you have had a bad temper and attitude especially towards my son since the day he was born" The king said with a frown just as Easton walked into the room. "Ah my boy welcome home, how has your toy making been on this fine day?" The king smiled, getting up from his throne then hugging his son. "For the last time father, they aren't toys they are inventions which will eventually help the kingdom in these coming years" Easton said then looked over at Markus and frowned "Uncle" Easton said with a small glare. "Easton, my dear nephew, how have you been? I suggest very well. A little birdy told me about your encounter with a new girl in the village" Markus said, leaning against the table with a dagger in his hand.

"Excuse me but you and your pitiful guards have been going around terrorizing me and now you get involved in my relationships. You tried to take her away if I do remember correctly" Easton frowned walking up towards him "What? You must be crazy; well the girl was inappropriately dressed for one and she tried to attack my guards" Markus said with a nervous laugh. The king frowned and looked at Markus "is this true Easton?" The king asked. "Yes father but she is from a different kingdom where they dress differently, what is it any of your business anyways! you forced yourself upon us, seeking what, what do you want from me!" Easton yelled, slamming his fist against the wall. Markus raised an eyebrow then laughed "you're joking, you know what I want, and I will get it...Bu... But I will do it in the respectful way just as a king should" Markus smirked. The king looked to the two and rolled his eyes "Unless there is anything else important you two would like to talk off then I suggest you both take this somewhere else" The King said with a sigh.

"Tsk just like always, you'll never change, the two of you are the same arrogant idiots and I can't deal with this anymore. You know if Mother was still here, she would have gotten rid of you years ago Markus. I wouldn't have been surprised if mother had split from you. Father! You're hopeless" Easton said. The king slammed his hand against the arm of the throne and looked to Easton "Don't you dare bring your mother into this boy! I have allowed you to leave this castle and do as you please and now all I want is for you to become king just as I have!" The king exclaimed in an angry tone. Easton took a deep breath then sighed "I actually wanted to speak to you about that. Father, I don't want to be king... I want Markus to take my place" Easton said with a frown. The king froze then frowned standing up and staring at Easton in shock "What do you mean? You've always wanted to be king Easton. We planned that you were going to be king..." The king started with a frown against his old face.

Markus smirked gently and clapped "Wow this is truly fascinating. I am honored you think I would be a more fitting king than you." Markus said. "Why the sudden change of mind Easton, what has gotten into you..." The king asked. Easton sighed gently then looked at both Markus and his father "Because that's not where I see myself in the future, I just want to be an inventor and invent something that will change the world for everyone. I don't need this royal life, it's too much!" Easton said. "It must be the new girl getting to his head, maybe we should get rid of her?" Markus suggested with a frown. Easton glared at Markus and walked up to him now standing inches away from him. "You will do nothing of the sort, you keep your distance from me and my life!" Easton said.

The king grabbed his sword from his side and put it in between the two "That will be unnecessary. The both of you are dismissed! Markus will gain the throne by the end of this season. I expect that you attend this event Easton" The king said. Easton backed up and looked at the both of them "Your both mad men" Easton said then walked out the throne room.

The king sat back down on his throne and sighed "What have I done to deserve this..." The king muttered. Markus frowned then looked to the king "nothing Sir you know he is just at a rebellious age he will come around eventually I am sure of it. But may I ask why you would like to step down so early my lord?" Markus asked quite interested in his reasoning.

Easton walked around the village for a bit before seeing Alyce, He smiled happily then walked over to her. "Good afternoon my lady," Easton said with a happy smile, glad to be away from his family's dramatic lifestyle. Alyce flinched then looked over her shoulder "oh hey Easton what's up! Um wait no I mean hi how's it going sir" Alyce said awkwardly, Easton laughed then pats her head "You've been practicing?" Easton asked. Alyce laughed "Yeah I guess I have..." Alyce said, looking at him. Easton raised an eyebrow "Well you sound absolutely terrible no offence" Easton said. Alyce frowned then pushed him "Oh shut up" Alyce said then started walking away.

Easton laughed and followed after her "My apologies I was just being honest" Easton said with a smile "Pfft whatever" Alyce said crossing her arms. Easton looked around a bit then sighed "So what's today's adventure?" Easton asked. Alyce stopped then looked at him "Adventure? Really?" Alyce smiled then rolled her eyes "Well I was probably going to go on a wander around the outskirts of town to see if I can find any clues to help me get back home" Alyce said looking around "goodness you're still going about that, alright then mind if I join you?" Easton asked. Alyce then looked at him then smiled "Sure thing" Alyce smiled then started running off "That's if you can keep up!" Alyce yelled, Easton rolled his eyes and ran after her. "You know we can take horses, right?" Easton said when they eventually stopped running. They were just outside the walls of the whole kingdom, the surroundings were filled with life, the grass was tall in some areas and short in others but was full of different flowers. "Woah this is amazing" Alyce said, completely ignoring Easton's comment.

Easton huffed, "Rude but anyways, yes it's pretty great but pretty ordinary" Easton said crossing his arms watching Alyce. "Seriously? It's so pretty there's so many flowers and the grass is so green!" Alyce said with a huge smile spread across her face. Easton just looked around with a sigh, but his eyes slowly drifted back to Alyce, he smiled happily to see her smile "you don't have grass in the future." Easton said, sitting down leaning against a rock. Alyce looked at him and rolled her eyes "We do but it's normally dead or fake" Alyce said then went over and sat beside him. "Now what's on your mind, you seem down" Alyce said looking at him. Easton looked down at his hands and sighed "Oh you know just family stuff; they just want too much from me. They are just intense, you know" Easton said.

Alyce placed a hand on his shoulder and sighed "hey don't worry about it ok, I understand family can be really annoying sometimes but I'm sure they mean well right, you might be thinking about it in the wrong way, but some advice does what you think is right and not everyone else don't do things just to please everyone. You're completely perfect just the way you are" Alyce said with a wink. Easton smiled and laughed "Thanks, I appreciate your advice and your use of weird vocabulary" Easton said looking at Alyce. Alyce pushed him gently and scoffed "I take back the compliment" Alyce said crossing her arms "What?! You can't just do that; you've already said it I have already heard it therefore you can't take it back!" Easton said with a small laugh. "You suck dude," Alyce said with a small smile.
