"Noooooo! You idiot! Why wouldn't you just take it?" I said running out of my hiding place by the electric pole.
"Oh hey! How long have you been here?" Asked Deku.
"And how much did you hear?" Asked small might.
"I heard pretty much everything." I said, before looking back at Deku.
"Why in the fuck would you refuse such power?" I repeated.
"Why? You of all people should know why Haru-chan. You taught me this. Any offer too good to be true probably is. There is no free meal in the world. Not to such great degrees. Like a pie out of the sky. Besides, I was there, you know. I saw those heroes stand by as Kacchan was dying at the hands of a villain. Just standing there." He said, rage bubbling at the tip of his tongue.
"You know who else I saw? Him. The great All Might, just cowering by the corner, watching injustice take hold. I need no power that comes from someone like him!" Deku added, pointing an accusatory finger at the man.
Small might hung his head in shame. He looked like a man shattered. That last sentence really did a number on him huh?
"Haah!" I let out an exasperated sigh.
"Deku! Why do you want to be a hero?" I asked.
"What? Why are you-"
"Just answer, Deku!"
"To bring justice to those most in need of it. To save those who can't save themselves." He replied, only for me to slap his head full force.
"Nope. I asked why YOU wanted to be a hero. Not what I told you heroes should do! So tell me why you want to a hero?"
"That...Haru-chan...."
"Go on." I urged.
"To help others. To save others. To be like ... like he was." Deku answered, pointing at small might.
"Then won't you be able to help more people if you take his powers? What matters more - your feelings towards him or the lives of those you could save with those powers? What would a hero do, Deku?"
Realization dawned on him as he thought it over.
"You're right Haru-chan. I understand." He answered.
Small might looked up at the boy, with hope in his eyes.
Deku extended a hand to the man he had once idolized.
"Thank you, for your offer. I would be honored to take it." He said, the sun shining bright on his face, illuminating him.
Small might looked up with tears of guilt and shame threatening to drop.
"Yes." He said, standing up straight, and looked Deku eye to eye.
"And I promise to make you the best hero you can be." He said, wiping his tears with his sleeve.
"But you're on thin ice!" Deku added as a last word in.
The scene was utterly bizarre to someone who knew the plot of canon.
How badly is the canon fucked for if this scene has completely reversed?
I wonder how far have the butterfly's wings flapped away?
Eh, I don't need to wonder.
I activated Laplace Junior and began deducing.
Not Much. Came the answer.
I heaved a sigh of relief.
Small changes would be made but the events would go about the same even yet.
That night I lay awake calculating my next moves.
I had to improve my power to the next level. If dealing with Lady Nagant put me out of commission for a week, how was I going to face All-for-One, who could blow her with a snap of his fingers.
This meant I had to not only get to 100 % in all three psi aspects but also get an ultimate move ready.
That left me with three choices - Zone, Almighty or Nova.
Zone allowed the user to assert full control and free mobility in a sphere of influence. That meant swimming on land, teleport in the sky or splitting the ocean itself to cause tidal waves.
No. That took too much energy and had limited application.
What if a lithosphere based psi user had to fight in the ocean? Or space? They'd be boned is what.
Next best was Nova. To become a being of thought. This was basically diet reality warping. But this was out too. It was extremely painful to train and required ungodly amounts of concentration. A simple distraction in this state could wipe me from existence. I don't want to be rubber ducky'd to death.
So nope. Not this.
That left me with Almighty, the weakest yet most varied class of power. One user had at a time used this to concentrated the sun's rays into a solar incineration beam to vaporize everything in sight. Another user ripped up entire buildings with a flick of their wrist.
A third could heal anything and at the same time kill everything with a touch.
This was it. Now all that was left was creating my own unique Almighty.
And I knew just what I wanted. An ability from a particular fantasy novel I rather liked.
From I Shall Seal The Heavens.
