At W Group HQ.
After Anderson hung up the phone call from C.E.O. Andrew William, he immediately ordered his assistant to take the Cooperative Contract they have prepared in advance. They will sign it right away.
Anderson's assistant brought two binders with him and handed them to Anderson. He immediately passes the binders over to Mel.
"Ms. Mel Tan, please check the contents of this contract. If there is something you want us to revise, please tell us so we can revise it," he said.
Mel carefully and thoroughly read the contents of the contract. But she has done in smooth and prompt manners. Mel has read many agreements before and knows how to go through contracts speedily without unchecking any critical clauses. When she finished, she glanced at Amanda, who was still checking as well.
After a while, Amanda has finally finished checking the contract. She looked at Mel and gave a sign that the agreement was okay.
"All okay, Ms. Mel Tan?" asked Mr. Anderson.
"The contract is in place. We can sign it now."
After they sign it, Mr. Anderson stood up from his chair "Ms. Mel Tan, let me congratulate you. Finally, W Group and MT Group could venture up together on this amazing project."
Anderson held out his hand for a handshake. Mel quickly got up from her chair and shook Mr. Anderson's hand with a big smile.
"Thank you, Mr. Anderson; although our company is still young, we promise to work on this mega project in the most professional way. You will not regret choosing us." Mel answered optimistically.
"We'll be looking forward to that, Ms. Mel Tan."
"Mr. Anderson, may I ask you something?" She was curious because she didn't expect them to sign the cooperative contract on the spot. She thought today was just an ordinary presentation.
"Please don't be hesitate."
"What is the reason W Group choose to work with our company? You know for yourself that our company is still quite new in this field."
He smiles at her "Ms. Mel Tan; we should sit down because this question takes a while to explain." Then he sat back in his chair.
Mel and Amanda followed.
"When we received the proposal sent by Mr. Hiro, we were immediately interested in collaborating with the MT Group. Because the technology you offer us is very advanced and unique. It is much different from the technology other companies have submitted to us in their cooperation proposals. Also…" He pauses a moment, "Our team has had several video calls with Mr. Hiro to discuss it in more detail. Did he told you about that?" he asks.
She was surprised at Mr. Anderson's question. 'Hiro didn't tell her!' She said voicelessly to herself, "Yes, Mr. Hiro, told me." she lies.
Mr. Anderson nodded with satisfaction.
"You know... today our CEO is very excited about this meeting. He's been waiting for this day to hear your presentation." Mr. Anderson lowered his head slowly, feeling sad.
Seconds later, he continued his sentence, "Before today, we were 90% sure our company will work together. And, after you finished the presentation, I reported it to the CEO, and he immediately agreed. We are almost running out of time. This project should already underway soon, so today the collaboration between the two companies, W Group and the MT Group must not delay."
Mel nodded. She was pleased to hear Mr. Anderson's explanation.
After talking about the next step, they have agreed to set up a meeting with the key persons of each company next week. Mel and Amanda immediately said goodbye and left the W Group building.
"Ms. Tan, it's lunchtime now? Do you want to eat first, or do you want to go straight to the office?" Amanda asks her when they were in the car.
Mel, who was reading a short message on her cell phone, suddenly stopped. Slowly she lifted her head to look at Amanda.
"I want to go back home!" she said. She still has important work to do. Some hackers are asking for some kicked on their bottom. She will clean up this despicable hacker as soon as possible.
"Okay, Ms. Tan." Amanda looked at the driver and said to him, "Sir, we are going to the Empire Apartment."
That afternoon the streets weren't too busy so that the car could drive quickly to Mel's house. As soon as she entered her apartment, Max greets her with his charming voice.
Max told him about the progress of the case they had worked on since this morning. She carefully listened while took off her stilettos, her coat and walked quickly to the computer room.
While Max talked to her, she sat in her command chair, her fingers typed fast on the keyboard.
A few minutes later, "Max, call Alex!" she shouted.
Her eyes occasionally glanced at her cellphone. It wasn't long before she hears Alex's voice.
"Hello," his voice sounded distant.
"Commander, are you in the field?"
Silence. Alex has not replied to her.
Her fingers stopped typing, "Commander, I'll call you later." She continued to type fast on the keyboard for a few minutes, then she stopped.
"Boss, is everything okay? Earlier, I already remove all the stolen files. There shouldn't be any backup data, right?"
"Yes, after I checked, it was clean. Unless the hacker had time to save the data on the external hard drive." Mel tapped her fingers on the table. She thought of something.
"Boss, commander Alex is calling," Max said.
"Accept the call!" She uses her ear pods.
"Mel, thank you for your hard work. We've cleared the perpetrator and the crime scene." Alex sounded very excited.
She feels relieved. "Good! By the way, what's his motive?" Mel is curious.
"We have no idea yet. X-Team's task is only to catch the perpetrators and collect all the evidence at the crime scene. There will be a special team that will handle this case more deeply. So, our job finished here."
Mel just nodded slowly without speaking.
"I have to go back to base camp; I'll call you later. Bye!" He said hurriedly.
Mel continues to work in the computer room. She didn't forget to tell Hiro that they had successfully signed a contract with W Group.
When Hiro heard the news, he was delighted and then decided to return to the city J sooner than his plan. Mel didn't argue with him; she immediately agreed.
She was too exhausted to take care of office matters. She prefers busy making programs or playing with her computer than managing a large company like the MT Group, which has hundreds of employees. Now, she felt a little sorry for her ambition.
"Mel, what has happened to you?" She asks herself. She lost in her thought. A moment later, she chuckled and said to herself, "Nah! Maybe I'm too tired with works and have been lacking sleep, so now I felt de-motivating."
Before she knew it, it was already dark outside.
Her tiring day is finally over. Her minds are excessively drained; her eyes are now feeling very heavy.
She dragged herself into the bedroom and lay down on the bed, hoping she would be able to sleep like a baby.
